NELL (넬) - Slip Away
Himiko could feel her heart thumping against her ribcage, and she was so sure it was going to burst out. She put one hand over her chest, curling her fingers, trying to control her racing heartbeat, but it was no use. Could Sul hear it? Aaahh, how embarrassing…
With their fingers laced, Himiko squeezed Sul’s hand, her thumb rubbing against Sul’s skin.
"I-I… love you too Sul-chan."
The relief of knowing Himiko's happiness was equal to hers assured Sul there was nothing wrong with being friends with the older girl, and the overwhelming compassion she held by her side released all stress of being such an overworked chef and successful student.
"How about I eat your grandma's cooking tonight? I'm sure she'd be happy to have help in the kitchen since I'll be working hard tonight!"
"Y-yeah! Best friends. Sul is my best friend too!" Himiko smiles at Sul, packing away her bento neatly, placing it next to her.
She couldn’t help but giggle at Sul, involuntary as it was, Sul’s speach pattern was still way to cute. It wasn’t that she couldn’t speak Japanese, but she just talked so fast. Himiko still giggled as Sul pressed against her shoulder.
She leaned her head to the side, resting her head against the top of Sul’s. She lightly placed her hand on top of Sul’s, her cheeks still red.
"You’re improving, Sul-chan."
It was assuring to know somebody understood her well, making her fidget from the compliment. She moved her hand around, slipping her fingers between Himiko's and holds them tightly. She liked being with her best friend a lot, it made her comfortable as she was the first person to really get to know her despite being Korean.
Sul smiles, nuzzling closer with a happy sigh.
"I love you Himiko-chan."
"H-haaa!" With a gasp Himiko lets Sul wipe her blush, and unsurprisingly blushes, pink dusting lightly across her cheeks. Not only was Sul that close, but she also called her cute!
"Th-th-th-thank you!" Smooth, Himiko. Smooth.
"Yoo, we're best friends! I have to help at all times!" Sul cleans up her eating area, closing things tightly up before realizing something.
"Ah, I can speakJapanesemorenowbetter--"
...sighs, maybe next time Sul...She pouts, laying on Himiko's shoulder and pouts, cheeks red in embarrassment.

Himiko makes a small “ah” putting her finger just a few centimeters away from the sauce. She looks at Sul curiously.
"Here?"
With a giggle, the smaller girl uses her thumb to wipe the smear away, wiping it on her napkin and giggles more.
"I got it! Himiko-chan is always so cute!"
"Whmgh?"
Blinking, Himiko chewed the food in her mouth, repeating herself after she had finished swallowing. She usually wasn’t so careless about these things.
"Here?" Himiko said, dabbing the wrong side of her mouth with her finger.
Sul smiles at her actions, pointing at the other side as she leans closer, hand ready to ripe the smear from her bottom lip.
"No the other side!"
"Himiko-chan," Sul gasped, sitting across from the young girl legs crossed on the stairway of the school building. They were eating lunch as usual when she spotted a light smear of rice and tomato sauce from the baked mahi fish bento for on her bottom lip.
"You have...something on your lip." She motions her own lip, wiping the wrong side.
Snore.
Twisted. There’s so many things in this world he can describe with that word alone such as this library filled with books that not everyone’s free enough to read. Some of them exists only to be a part of the display as one cannot really consider a cabinet a book shelf with only one or two books. Like how one cannot call an item with two pages a book. It is simply compiled notes; nothing more, nothing less. He thought more about this as he raised his arm to feel the texture of the dusty wooden container, still inhaling the nostalgic scent of the stacked pages. Of course, he can simply look at the corner of his eye to watch the female do her act of apologizing but he was too absorbed with the thoughts of isolation and what would it be like to live in a place where no one but him existed.
But he whispered.
Even if he’s not interested with her being or what’s running in her mind, he whispered to her. They were apart and mumbling something in such a low tone can only prove to be worthless but that didn’t stop him from doing so. After all, even smallest of actions can change the turn of events.
"That handkerchief," he slowly faced the direction where the female was before. "…was it yours?"
The smaller girl paused midstep, realizing there was a faint voice surrounding the both of them addressing her. She faintly turned her head to the side, an unsure smile painted on her face as if she was struck with confusion.
"I don't...think so?"
She didn't remember carrying one from home, nor did she think she borrowed one from Himiko and her grandmother, making the situation even more confusing as she clicked her tongue in concentration. She left home at 6:45 am, making sure her mother's plate was proper as she scurried out of the home, making on to her 7:00 bus one mnute early. The ride to school was hindered with light traffic, but made it to the front of the school gates by 7:20 am. Gates closed at 7:25 and Sul was the second to last student in the classroom as morning exercise and homeroom announcement started.
Fast forward. Lunch time she ate what she prepared that day; two simple salmon flavored origiri with sweet tamagoyaki rolls. There wasn't need for a `kerchief as she excused herself from her classmates to wash her hands. Class ended with no problems, taking her job on sweeping the classroom and mopping around 4:00. There was no class activities today as well, giving Sul the time she needed to study intensively on her Japanese Literature themes from 4:30 at the public library near her home and finished around-
The girl looked at her wrist, 6:30. Meaning she'd need to quickly return to wash her school clothes, don her chef uniform and wait for her mother to pick her up to rush hour tonight at precisely 7:15. She stops thinking, shaking her head and bowed. "That...definitely is not mine, sorry for wasting your time."
There wasn't any more time for her to waste she confirmed, turning back to the near exit of the aisle and pitters her way to the door opening.
