H E lets out a garbled “ FUCK ! “ at the sudden sound of her voice, was eating sloppily anyway, but the shock coursing through him makes him jump and more or less choke on the very food in question, bending slightly to catch what fell out of his mouth . A mess . But as shock ebbs away it is replaced by horrible EMBARRASSMENT, and he quickly wipes his mouth, tries to look presentable, tries to look like he wasn’t stuffing his face .

      the female has no issue with him helping himself to the delicacies prepared by skilled hands throughout the day    ;    more food than needed, with the belief that they’d be feeding a lot more than  THREE.    ‘   my apologies, hadn’t intended to startle you as such   ..    ’    sets about retrieving jug of filtered liquid, soon filling the cup in her hand   ––   soft smile bursts onto pink brims at his questioning, finishes pouring her drink before turning to face him.        ‘    i have a child who refuses to sleep anywhere but my bed   &  a husband who tolerates it, have you ever tried to drift off while a two year old has a fistful of your hair   ?    ––    it’s certainly not ideal.    ’    yet instead of insisting the boy return to his own room, she allows it to happen   ..   for no reason other than it’s a beautiful scene to wake to.     ‘    tell me, is it only hunger keeping you awake   ?    ––    or something less simple to fix   ?   ’

                       arthur allowed his eyes to moved from the rim of his glass as the blonde entered the small room, used by his family as an office. he had started drinking a little earlier than usual today and was mildly displeased by the disruption - especially as he realized what the reason for her visit was. a large gulp was swallowed HARD before he hit the beverage back on to the table in front of him.       ‘just  f i x i n g  it grace.’         green hues left her small face and slowly danced down the woman’s body, following her soft curves shamelessly. it took a moment before he managed to conduct his attention back to what she was saying and almost immediately a sly smirk slid onto his features.            ‘is that a threat now? I think I see why tommy has found such a liking in you now. & it’s hardly vandalising, just adding a few things only fockin’ SHELBYS know about.’

      shoulders visibly tense at the realisation that a straightforward answer WON’T be provided  ;  steely gaze remains on the features of the other, unimpressed by syllables that fall from liquor stained brims.     ‘    i’ve witnessed your mathematical capabilities, mr shelby and i highly doubt you’re fixing any of  MY  mistakes    ––    i take offence to the idea alone.    ’    book in mention is flattened onto the desk in front of him   ;    covering the current pages he’d been scrawling on    ––     ‘    this here, this circle around the second tuesday of every month, what does that mean    ?    ––    if a payment is due on this date i’ll need to be aware of it.    ’    hopes her excuse will fly with the elder, but question isn’t posed as a result of her attempting to do her job correctly, it’s fuelled by curiosity    ––    the same curiosity which will get her into tremendous trouble if she doesn’t learn to curb it.    ‘    now, why would i ever threaten you, mr shelby   ?    ––    also, if the request isn’t TOO much to ask, i would kindly ask that your eyes remain on my face while you speak to me.   ’
