Welcome to Clones for the Holidays, a prompt gift exchange featuring the galaxy’s favorite copy/paste boys!
Here is how the event is going to work:
You create a Wish List with prompts, genres, favorite clone characters from Star Wars: the Clone Wars
You will also provide a creative preferences profile so that I can match you with someone else’s Wish List
On October 26th, you will receive a Wish List in your Tumblr inbox. You will then spend the next approx. 4 weeks working on a fill that goes with one (or more) of the three prompts your giftee provided on their list. You will also take into consideration their favorite clone characters and preferred genres.
During the week of December 1st, you will submit your fill to the event blog (more details on this to come!) and it will be posted as a gift from you to your giftee on the event blog!
The below Google doc will have everything you need to learn about the event and get signed up!

@galactic-gift-gathering prompt ‘decorating the Christmas tree’ for @fiveminutetrash
Tried writing something again, because I had fun last time. Hope you enjoy! (In a world in which Tech is alive and they all live happily ever after on Pabu, yay)
The tree
Hunter held his intertwined hands palms-up in front of him, crouching down painstakingly on one knee.
“Alright, let’s get this thing up.”
“Woohoo!”
It was Omega adding the finishing touch to their tree, even though any of the others could have reached the summit of the ‘towering’ pine, him included. Regardless of how his brothers would jest at his less than average stature, he was by no means short. Or so he liked to think.
In any case, this particular evergreen was stubby, looming at the rather unimpressive height of five and a half feet. There had been many ‘finer’ specimens in the forest they had visited during their search, but Omega had insisted, emphatic as ever, they should take the ‘defective’ tree, as she had put it.
Defective, like them.
He had just managed to restrain Tech from informing her of the tree’s lesser age or the like, in favour of allowing the sentiment to remain.
And as he boosted his big little sister to allow her to reach the uppermost branch, he knew he had made the right decision.
“There!” She grunted, having landing on the ground with an ungrateful thud after hopping from her perch on Hunter’s calloused hands. She stood back, hands on hips, admiring her handiwork.
“It goes great with the garland,” she noted contentedly, nodding at the sparkling orange and white seaglass draped haphazardly on the midmost twigs and wrapping twice around the body of the tree.
“Yeah! Bit wonky though,” Wrecker looked deep in thought, his head cocking to the side to match the tilt of the tree.
He hadn’t noticed that. Perhaps the tree was defective. He smirked.
“What’s with you?” Echo raised an inquisitive eyebrow, and Hunter, deep in thought, belatedly realised it was directed to him.
“I, er… I was just admiring the beauty of the tree, that’s all. Can’t a man smirk to himself without people starin’?” He challenged.
“No.” He adjusted his goggles. “Unless, of course, you are Crosshair.”
“And why am I allowed such a pleasure?” Crosshair, right on queue, drawled from the rocks behind them on the beach.
“I am merely stating that those of us with an inkling of intelligence would know not to question your smirking,” he shrugged.
Hunter wandered over to the rocks, allowing the banter to fade into white noise, along with the sounds of the sea and wind. The tree branches flapped around in the breeze, the glass glinting in the sun. Omega’s final addition, a piece of wood he had himself carved into the shape of a star, topped it off beautifully, if he did say so himself. The slight lean of the pine had him smiling in pleasure.
It wasn’t perfect, but neither were they.
He surveyed the scene amusedly and decided, for the second time that day, he had made the correct decision. But not about the tree, about their home. Pabu.
He watched his siblings gallivanting around, poking fun at each other, and laughing together.
Never before in his life had Echo been nervous to see Fives. His twin’s presence had always fostered security and comfort, but now Echo’s heart was beating anxiously as he awaited Fives' arrival at the medbay.
They hadn’t seen each other in a year and Fives had spent that time believing Echo was dead. Echo knew how reasonable his brother was, but he couldn’t imagine the pain Fives had experienced in the wake of the Citadel. As much as he hoped Fives had made his peace with his twin's death, Echo also hoped he hadn’t. Echo hated to think of his twin hurting, but at the same time he couldn’t contain the anxiety that told him Fives might not need him anymore.
But Echo also knew Fives well enough to know the guilt he would have endured; irrational remorse for an event that had been out of his control. What if all of that overwhelmed him, once he saw that Echo had been subjected to? Echo had been tortured and marred beyond recognition. What if Fives blamed himself? If he even recognized Echo at all.
Would Fives even still see him the same way? Would they be able to regain the bond they’d had? Or had that been lost at the Citadel?
The sound of the medbay door swishing open interrupted Echo’s spiral of thoughts.
Fives stood in the doorway. His ARC armor was the same as Echo remembered, but now duller and battered from use. Fives’ face was mostly the same; the same goatee, Aurebesh five tattoo, and standard haircut with a couple curls loose over his forehead. But his face was as worn as his armor. Dark circles lay beneath his eyes, and the bones of his jaw and cheeks looked sharper, as if he’d lost weight.
Fives stood frozen for a moment; likely taking in Echo’s new appearance, as Echo was taking in Fives’. Then suddenly he rushed forward.
Echo was sitting up on his hospital bed and made to stand to greet his twin, but he was still adjusting to his prosthetic legs and couldn’t stand in time. Fives barreled into him, nearly knocking him backwards onto the bunk. Fives hugged Echo tightly and Echo quickly returned the embrace, resting his forehead on the familiar perch of Fives’ shoulder.
“I’m so glad you’re alive. I missed you so much,” Fives said shakily against Echo’s shoulder.
“I missed you too.” Echo’s own voice was quivering now. “I’m so sorry I left you alone.”
“You, di’kut,” Fives chuckled. “Are you seriously apologizing for getting blown up?”
“Maybe?”
“Well, don’t.” Fives lightly smacked the back of Echo’s head. Then suddenly his voice dropped to a whisper. “Just promise you won’t leave me again.”
“I won’t, I promise.”
Echo sighed contentedly as they continued to hold each other. So much had changed since they last saw each other, but not everything. Fives was still his best friend and that was all that mattered.
