We are so excited to see how many people voted on our poll, and are ready to announce the official dates for the Hollanov Big Bang 2026!
Sign ups will open on January 1st, and run through to February 28 for Authors and Betas and May 31 for Artists. The full schedule is below the cut at the end of this post.
We recommend everyone interested in signing up familiarise themselves with our rules and our FAQ! The most important thing to note is that for authors signing up, they must have already published a completed fic (for any fandom) over 12,000 words. There are no prompts and no set themes, outside of the inclusion of Hollanov, authors have full artistic liberties to write whatever they please (this includes taboo or DDDNE content).
A Big Bang is a great way to interact with other people in the fandom, and for authors can be a big motivator to completing a longer fic that they might not have otherwise!

I have a couple of heated rivalry fic prompts for everyone to use and enjoy!
(Before anyone says to make the fic myself I have exams and will maybe think about it after break) this is purely for motivation!!
Okay before we begin most of these will be POV outsider bc I love that tag or can be combined with POV outsider...

1) Jane and Lily
I feel like we need to do more with Jane and Lily bc the fact that they're in like a super secret relationship and their code names are literally just their actual names but feminised is mind boggling. So I want them to play into it more.
Like ofc everyone in Ilya's team knows that even though he seems like a fuck boy he's actually smitten for his long term romantic partner named Jane. Like everytime he smiles at his phone in the beginning it's "Who are you texting" "Jane."
But at some point his teammates just stop asking and assume every text is from Ilya's mysterious girlfriend Jane. Also everytime he bails on his team they're just like "oh he must just be at Janes." Like that shit makes total sense to them.
On the other end of the spectrum it's Shane in the locker room and a teammate is like "Oooohhh who's Lily?" And then Shane has to akwardly explain his 11 year long situationship not so relationship situation to his team without giving himself away or making it seem like he was a total prick. Like "Oh Lily's is uhm well Lily is Lily I guess" "Is she your girlfriend?" "Uh... it's complicated? Kind off? Maybe?" And the team is like wow we did not know you had game like that Hollander.
But at some point both Shane and Ilya have like an expectation to keep up with their fake girlfriends so they get like weirdly into it? Like they just start calling instead of texting one day and Shane picks up mid team hang out "Hey Lily what's up?" And then Lily turns into Lils and it just becomes normal to call Ilya Lily in front of people. Or he's kind of pissed at him and suddenly it's Lily Rose. So like the team doesn't know who tf Lily is but they know weirdly specific facts about her and like try to piece togheter when his "relationship" with this girl started but they can't get it right (because they miss the important information that Lily is a man and also Ilya).
And Ilya's teammates get check up on Jane from time to time and Ilya finds it amusing to embarrass Shane without letting people know it's Shane. So everytime Shane gives Ilya marks the rest of their team is line "Oh Jane must have been feeling it yesterday" and Ilya just rolls with it.
But like one day they're both calling eachother in company and saying Jane and Lily to eachother like it's normal business but at what point does hiding the yaoi just become yuri guys bffr...
But then 2 players from both teams come togheter and start comparing notes and you would think that they would figure it out but no, actually the conclusion they have is that "Wow I think Shane's girlfriend Lily is cheating on him with Ilya's girlfriend Jane.." and they don't care about the gay yuri but just about the fact that their homeboys are getting cheated with. And then they try to to tell Shane because Ilya is lowkey scary and he's just flat out disappointed. Because what the actual fuck do you mean? That's just stupid. But then he probably goes with it and has a very public breakup with his girlfriend Lily while Ilya decides to "stay" with Jane. And then a year later Shane just "goes back" to Lily and they pretend like that wasn't a thing.
OR at some point they get outed (I mean I haven't read the book but I'm assuming they get outed bc that's just how those stories go) or they go public with their relationship and everyone in the team is not angry about the gay part but... are you both cheating on your girlfriends that you seemed to love so much? And they just laugh in their faces because omg there is no way.
And then they realised that when Ilya said that he knew how to long distance it wasn't a joke and then they finally come to terms with it until.... wait how long has this been going on?
2) Shane speaks Russian??
Okay for this thing I want to give you my fun headcanon that Shane is like the most humble polyglot of all time and that he's like a total language nerd as a hobby. Because let's be honest here, Shane is Asian Canadian and Yuna seems like the type of girl to send her son to Chinese school every saterday until he is 80 years old. And I don't even know what kind of Asian Shane is. But so Shane is just really good with languages, he knows English, French, his language of origin that I assume is Manderin but could literally be any other East Asian language... wait I looked it up and it's Japanese. So he's fluent in English, French and Japanese but he picks up random languages pretty easily.
So one day Shane is like: "Omg I have the best idea! I want to know what Ilya is saying to me in the bedroom in Russian, let me learn some Russian words." And originally he was just gonna search up some dirty Russian words but then he fell in a rabbit hole and now he's like 2 years into learning Russian and is basically fluent. Like he can understand everything, he can read most of it only the way he pronounces things has a really big accent and his writing looks like a dislexic 5 year old. But it was never meant to get this far, so not only can he understand Ilya in the bedroom he could talk back if he wanted to. And then it could be like some cool reveal that Shane learned Russian for Ilya but EVEN BETTER there could be so much good outsider pov moments involved.
Like imagine Shane's team gets a Russian player and Shane can just talk in Russian to him and everyone is so confused because why can you just do that?
Or they go to Russia for some game (idk if there is a competition in Russia outside of the Olympics but bear with me) and there is some miscommunication and Shane wips out his half assed Russian pronounciation and starts fixing everything in Russia.
Or even better, Ilya and Shane are now the only people in the NFL who know Russian so they just start flirting in public in their "secret" language. (Even better if the Russian transfer oc over hears this and just assumes everyone knows they're a thing and goes with it).
SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES!!
...I know this was only 2 prompts but I've been yapping for over an hour so you're gonna have to do it with this, sorry for the over use of like and basically, sorry for any spelling mistakes and happy writing!!

I have a lot of faith in the Schemer’s table because if you told me that the weird eccentric socialite museum owner who never takes off his cursed mask, the anti-bourgeois shit talking Dean of a university, a spick and span arcane guard and ex child solider, and the guy who’s two great loves are his theater company and his family were secretly orchestrating a complex political plot together? I’d say you were crazy.
Legitimately one of the funniest things in hindsight about episode 1 is that Bolaire, ancient sentient god-killing weapon, talented actor and curator, Hal’s best friend of at least several years who adores him and his family, has absolutely no idea how old Shadia and Hero are.
Shadia is twenty-five. Hero is old enough to discuss business with Hal in her summation of how she’s doing. They are both fully-grown adults! But Bolaire shields them when the party gets intense. He tries to defuse the tension by teaching them a valuable lesson about social gatherings, the way you would for very small children.
So either Bolaire met them when they were much smaller and has forgotten that they age, or simply cannot read ages particularly well and, when introduced to them, went “Ah yes, my dear friend Hal’s children. I know children. Children are tiny. Hello, Tiny Children.”
And both Shadia and Hero have simply been too polite to ever correct him. Perfection.
