He decided to take a walk to clear his head, maybe that would give himself  some more inspiration for his writing. He took his phone and notebook with him.

As everything was crashing, he actually felt like he was crashing with it. Like it was taking him down with it, almost like if he can;t hide it anymore, he shouldn’t be there anymore. He knows, as much as he will hate the outcome, he would want his friends and family with him if he survived it. He wished he could survive this, he honestly really did.

She had the power to move the stars on her side. She was a witch second most power to only the most powerful coven in existence. She was not going to let him die. She reached back into the archaic spells her parents had passed down to her. Spells written mostly in latin that required more energy then basic spells. She recalled seeing one in a book, one she’d memorized. A steady stream of latin escaped her lips on whispers. In her mind she envisioned him in the best way she could. All of the happy moments. His face glued into her mind. Blood dribbled from her nose, but she didn’t stop. 

He was going to live, even if she had to give herself to ensure he had the chance.

He just continued to try and write, he could barely fill a page at the moment. But he was quicker to text back then he was to find an idea for his songs.

Pen scrawled on paper scribbling down notes in long hand, probably faster than anyone else in the room could do it. In between slides her attention turned back to her phone. 

{text: moonmoon} Still. The first few hours are going to be miserable.

{text: moonmoon} Is it really much of a secret? I mean come on.

{text: moonmoon} Having trouble over there? Anything I can help with? Please. I could use a distraction.

Things were real now and they needed to be sorted out and he needs to come to his senses. If he wont come to them, his family is sure to make it happen. Everything was crashing and it was his own fault. He could barely keep his eyes open anymore.

The ambulance pulled to a stop and the EMTs unloaded him rushing him in to the hospital, She wanted to stay with him. But she knew that until he was stable. If he got stable. She wouldn’t be able to see him. So she climbed from the vehicle and turned to walk away. She needed to go find something witchy to distract her for a while. A hunt. She wasn’t one to usually hunt demons. In fact for the most part she stayed off their radar. But the pacifist wasn’t feeling like much of a pacifist and instead just wanted to lose herself in something other than the emotions she felt like she was drowning in.

But unlike what her mind screamed at her to go do. She moved into the hospital, to take a seat within their waiting room. An undeniable fear eating away at her insides. She should probably call his friends, and maybe her coven. She just really didn’t want to be alone.

Austin didn’t really have much planned for the day except for trying to write some and find a new song. So he just sat with his guitar, notebook and phone by his side. A cup of coffee sitting on his bedside table, going cold as the time went on.

Despite wanting to return the texts, she waited until she was safely in a parking spot on campus before lifting her phone again. She offered a smile at no one in particular.

{Text: moonmoon} It is important. But most of my teachers are boring. I only really like Prof. Mason and Prof. Cochran. And they teach my last two classes of the day.

Austin was fighting to try and stay awake, afraid that if he closed his eyes for a long period of time, that it would exactly be that. A long period of time, in which they would never open. Slowly he’s coming to the realisation that he has to do something about his issues and that they were going to be aired out if he survived this bump that has happened.

Her attention turned back to Austin and she dried her eyes, blinking back more tears that threatened to fall. She took his hand in hers, and hoped that her gods would hear her prayers once again, and give him strength, her strength. She hummed a few bars of a song, not anything she’d written by any means but still relevent. “I don’t want you to leave, will you hold my hand? Won’t you, stay with me----Cause your all I need. This is love, it’s clear to see, so won’t you stay with me.”

Austin didn’t really sleep last night, though that wasn’t something that was uncommon for him to do now. He had been playing on his guitar and writing a bit. Maybe he could get out a new song, not like he hasn’t gotten out a song with in hours before. When his phone went off, he smiled a little and decided to send one back.

She gathered her things and locked up the house before heading to her car and slipping into the drivers seat. She left her phone sitting in the passenger seat as she turned the engine over and pulled out of her parking spot heading off to face the day.

He let out a soft sigh and gave a small nod of his head. “Okay…” Austin licked his lips and averted his eyes to the ground. “Yeah, okay.”

It was early and Astra really didn’t want to be up, but she was. She was making her way through the motions of preparing to go to class. After the awkward ending to the night prior, Astraea had decided maybe she should just put it behind her and forget it ever happened. So after she was dressed and ready she picked up her phone and sent him a text, with a dorky picture of herself.

He was trying to steady his breathing, trying to make sure it was right but he wasn’t even sure what breathing right was anymore. That’s when he remembered his family, oh what will happen? Will they find out? These question entered his head quickly, but disappeared just as they came. Austin could somewhat feel what was happening, and tried his best to give response when it was needed.

She was an idiot. For letting this go on this long. Even though she’d built up her inner defenses to protect her against a situation like this. It was here, and she was crying. She was afraid of losing him. She was more than just fond of him. She was in love with him. She could barely hear the EMTs talking, helping him, the only thing she could hear was her own thoughts. He’d get help. It was going to be impossible for him to avoid it now. His family would ensure that he got help. And if they didn’t the doctors would be obligated to. She trained her eyes out the back window, it was better than watching him struggle to hold onto life while she was unable to do nothing.

Biting his lip a little he, probably should of either kept his mouth shut or said something else but he didn’t feel like he needed to be fixed in anyway. “Yeah? Should you, or you want too?”

“I promised the twins I’d be home in time for them to talk to me before they go to bed. And I have classes tomorrow.”She needed to build her walls back up before they completely crumbled. She heard the stories of how this ended, maybe she should brace herself for the impact of his addiction killing him. “I’ll text you tomorrow, okay?”

He let out a tiny sigh. “What if I don’t want this fixed? What if it doesn’t need to be fixed?” Yeah, the performer was in denial of his issues. And very much liked to ignore them and pretend that they do not exist or are not even a problem at all.

“I----”She tried to find the words to combat his denial. But none of them would come. She grew silent. She sat like that for a few minutes before she finally spoke up. “I should go.”

He blinked a few times, taking his time to reopen them each time. “O-Okay. A-Awake.” He huffed, he couldn’t go anywhere he was only still young and he didn’t want to go. Not on these terms anyway. “I will stay.”

“You better. I don’t know what I’d do with you.”She steeled herself, buried her emotions the best she could. Even though she was close to crying. “I love you.”The words fell from her lips before she had the chance to stop them, then the medics were banging at the door. She bolted over and opened it letting them in. Directing them to the living room, she carried herself numbly towards the bathroom to retrieve the bottle. Which she handed off to the EMT. As they carried him out.  She followed after them, slipping into the back of the ambulance.

His tongue ran out across his lips as her words hit his ear. “I…But…”He couldn’t think of anything to say in response. He’s been using since he was seventeen, it wouldn’t be that easy to just give it up and make himself better. Not when he doesn’t speaks of the true reason as to why he even started in the first place.

“I know  it’s not something that can be fixed easily. I know you’re not going to get better immediately. But I want you to know that I am here for you. I’ll help you.”She took a deep breath. In the time that she’d known Austin she’d grown particularly fond of him. All she wanted was to make sure he was safe.

Austin gave a tiny nod, Good, Breathing is Good. He thought. He tried to remember how much he took, generally he takes like three, maybe for depending on how he was using it. Trying to count on his fingers he only got up to six before trying to do it again.

The sound of sirens grew closer. The paramedics. She closed her eyes and thanked the stars for granting her the help she needed. The help he needed. “It’s okay.”Her hands took hold of his, stopping him, she’d seen enough to know that he’d obviously taken too many. “Just focus on staying awake, okay? Stay with me.”

“It is really wonderful. I do half of the work on my stuff. I can not take full credit there at all.” Austin spoke with a light smile before he went to take a seat next to her on the couch. “Yeah, you are. I keep the people good for me in my life. And you sure are good for me.”

“I’m scared for you, and I know this is probably not the conversation you want to have right now. But I want to keep being good for you. I want to help you---”Her hand extended taking his into hers. “I want to help you get better, to overcome your addiction. For your sake, and for mine.”

He could hear her voice, but his head was feeling heavy and he wasn’t sure if he was able to get out a response. Austin was losing most of his control, and feeling. Letting out a huff he tried to move his hand towards the bathroom where he stored the bottle of oxycodone that he used. “I…I’m breathing?” His words more of a question as his voice came out in a light whisper.

“Austin, yeah, you’re breathing. I need you to tell me; how many did you take?”Astra asked, taking a deep breath to steady herself and calm down. She’d have to go find the bottle after the paramedics arrived. She wasn’t going to leave him alone. She had to keep him conscious.

He let out a light hum in response, “That is very nice.” He replied with a light smile as he tried tried to regain his smile after the little falter that it took.

“It’s nothing special. Nothing like what you can do. I’m more of a poet, though I’ve never really been able to put good beats to my words.”She shrugged, moving to take a seat on the couch. The solar system faded from existence. “I want to be something good for you, Austin.” Now it was time for the fall back into reality.
