I finally completed this after 10 thousand years. 😃👍

Played around with my layers again and I'm indecisive so here, have them all.

I got humbled real quick trying to paint a galaxy. And color/shade in general 💀 Still don't think I did very well but I refuse to work on this any longer, I've already been on and off working on this for a month. I need it done, NOW!!!

Personally, I think that it’s extremely unlikely for a person who wants to conquer all of humanity to have good intentions. However, the character writing of LOGH is so strong that Reinhard does feel like a believable character. One of the reasons I do like him, despite disliking militarism and imperialism, is the contradiction in his personality between desire to control and desire to let be. He wants to be the emperor, the final authority in all matters of state, but on a personal level, he is resistant to using force. He gains his position through violence, but once he has it, he keeps his touch light.

There’s a moment from the OVAs that really stuck out to me. Reinhard was talking to Hilda about his relationship to Emil and said something like, “I was only ever a younger brother.” And Hilda thinks to herself, “I see, he wants to be an older brother.” From the novels, there’s also a description about how shitty Reinhard and Annerose’s father was, and how Reinhard came to identify the emperor with him, making his rebellion rather Freudian... But Reinhard doesn’t become a patriarchal ruler in the traditional sense—he feels more like a big brother than a father. He saw harm being done to people and had no power to stop it, and decided to take steps to change that. He exercises authority in ways which could be seen as tyrannical, but it truly does arise from concern for human life. Of course, this side of his personality is very much in conflict with his wild and battle-thirsty side, but that’s just good character writing.
