language is a human construct. humans are the building blocks that compose language. in order for language to change "naturally" (which i assume you mean as without conscious effort but. yk) people must change the way they use it. except for a few outliers, people don't just un/subconsciously start using language in a way nobody else has used it. those "random people" wanting to be called xir/xem are the evolution of language.

I do feel like pronouns should be used “without effort” because that’s the point of their use. Language should be simplified as it evolves not become more complicated.

ok well first of all medicalizing transness is ableist for probably a few reasons. but the one i meant was that mental disorders are, by the DSM-V, undiagnosable unless they have significant and noticeable harmful impact on the persons life. (not due to bias, such as transphobia, but inherently. also personally i think this criteria is bs but i digress.) saying transness is a mental disorder, with the above being true, means that being trans is inherently harmful to the person/their functioning. (writing this out i realize this sounds more like transphobia than ableism but. anyways.)

also saying you need dysphoria to be trans (while also transphobic) is ableist because of the nature of dysphoria. first of all, a lot of transmeds define dysphoria as a diagnosable medical condition (which you need to be professionally diagnosed with), which is......icky. a lot of psychiatrists are reluctant to diagnose people with stuff that behaves like dysphoria when they have other conditions (such as autism for infantilization reasons, or depression bc confusion with dysmorphia), which is ableist bc it blocks ppl with those conditions (who lack access to a good psychiatrist) from the transmed definition of "transgender"

(not to mention some people dont have dysphoria or experience a disconnect from it due to mental conditions or their symptoms, like alexithymia or depersonalization or brain fog)

Anything has the capacity to be used in homophobic ways if you misuse it in that extremely specific way, but the SAM is not homophobic by nature. But I do think there is a lot of nuance to the SAM that goes ignored. For example I am aromantic and asexual, so my attraction is not split. But the ace community would and often does demand I identify as aroace. Which I find dumb. Obviously people can identify as aroace if they want, but it should be alloaces and alloaros using it.

I agree with the majority of this ask, and it is kinda dumb that people are telling you to identify a certain way (not okay btw! let people be lmao. unless they're like.....a pedo or something, don't get weird about their labels! just leave them be!), but a little bit at the end bothers me.

You said that it should just be alloaces and alloaros using the SAM. While it can be very useful for those groups, and shouldn't be forced on anyone else, it can also be useful for other people. I, for example, am technically on both the aro and ace spectrums. I use the term aroace when talking to people who don't know these things very well, and I use a different, more specific term using the SAM when talking to people who do.

Basically, as I've said before, the SAM is opt-in, not opt-out. Some people don't treat it that way, but its original intent was to be.

Hey, anon. Idk if you're even going to see this, because it was sent so long ago, but I'm going to respond as if you will.

First off, I'm so sorry that that happened to you. That's messed up, and nobody deserves that.

Second, that's...not what bi lesbian means, or what the SAM means, depending on how you mean this. It's just...not. Bi lesbian means a whole ton of things depending on how the person intends its use, and I recommend looking further into it, but the most important thing is that these meanings ONLY apply to people who use the bi lesbian label. Same goes for the SAM.

Now, some people will not use it that way. Some people will say that bi lesbians or homoromantic bisexual girls or anything else of the nature means that all lesbians can and do have attraction to men. That's on them, not the people who use that label.

Also, just because someone can be attracted to someone (solely based on gender) doesn't mean they are, and even then, rape is never justifiable. In the same way that men rape straight women and women rape straight men, any rape is not okay, so even if lesbians can be attracted to men, it's not okay to force sex onto them.
