Sangwoo’s Words After The Killing

“…you’ve always been the victim and got hurt and had to suffer…”

“…at some point you needed to let out all that pent-up anger inside of you…”

“…you must have been tired of pretending to be so innocent…”

But is Sangwoo talking about Bum? Or about himself? …Or both of them?

We can see how calm and happy he looks.

Such a kind face, it looks honest, it’s not a part of his “nice” facade he puts on for the rest of the world.

This is his true happiness.

I believe that his words are his exact reason for killing. This is how he felt before killing for the first time, and probably how he feels again and again before killing, even after years.

Because of the abuse from his father he felt everything he just told us about Bum. He felt like the victim, he had to let out his pent up anger, he had to play innocent and he had to suffer… So it is just justified for him to kill. To let it out, to make others suffer. It’s his right, because he was hurt, was made the victim, but now he is strong, and it’s payback time.

This might also be a good way to understand Sangwoo’s kind of love for Bum. I do not think that his goal is for Bum to randomly kill people for the sake of killing. He wants to make him stronger - still controlled under his own supervision, with himself as the most powerful and dominant part, but with enough agency to let Bum avenge himself by making others suffer - just like he had to suffer, just like Sangwoo had to suffer.
