“you know. as great as all the news has been lately” there’s only a slightly sarcastic tone in his voice. “i could do with something a little better. like news that we’re going for drinks and it’s all paid for. or maybe we’ve adopted a puppy.” it wasn’t that he was weighed down by everything - having multiple missions was nothing compared to what they faced in the past. but every now and then a small break could be warranted couldn’t it?

     JOHN HAD QUICKLY learned that being in jack’s presence could often lead to terrible things. perhaps terrible was a bit of an overstatement - they were mischievous at the most. ( although maybe that was his developed bias coming into play to defend her. ) although more and more he was starting to think that maybe it didn’t matter how he behaved - after all he was technically AWOL. for all he knew the public’s opinion on him had changed and there was no point to trying to play good and nice anymore. ---- but of course old habits were hard to kick, even with HER  influence.

    “DON’T give me that look” his comment falls from his lips as he sees her gaze, a telling expression already on his features. he definitely had not been thinking of the ways they could desecrate the so-called-holy monument ( though from everything he had gathered it was all just hot-air ) and he certainly wasn’t going to stand around and let jack realize that he in fact had been.

                                      “we should keep moving.”
