âIt is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon menâs hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.â

I would love to know if anyone has an opinion on past lives and cultural appropriation? Say if someone remembers a life as Mambo or an Indigenous Shaman... would it be wrong to continue the practices and interact with the deities that they recall from that life if they were no longer a part of that culture. say, born chinese or white instead?
.
âHello. I have lived my entire life as a white person in a society where Whiteness⢠is treated as the default and often-times superior racial category, at the expense of literally all others. However, I believe that I have had a past life as a member of another culture. This is unverifiable and relies on things largely taking place in my imagination, but shouldnât I be allowed to continue the practices that my OCâ I mean, "past selfââ got to take part in? Even if there are more legitimate routes to gaining such access to this culture I feel a connection to because of my roleplayingâsorry, I mean my âpast livesâ? Thatâs not appropriation is it? I mean, I just feel entitled, as a white person, to a culture which I have not earned rights to in this lifetime, and Iâm unwilling to approach this culture appropriately, largely because I had a dream or two where I think I may have had brown skin and therefore must have been the priestess of some miscellaneous tribal religion. Thatâs not so bad, right?â
I apologize for participating in tarot without doing proper research
I have recently been informed that many people of Rromani/Roma descent consider Tarot to be a closed practice to their culture. Some Romani people have disagreed but as a white person, it is not my place to judge what is true or not.
What I know now: Oracle cards are not considered by anyone to be cultural appropriation or a closed practice. I have divination options available to me outside of Tarot.
Me using Tarot & benefitting off of the same âG**sy stereotypesâ that hurts the Romani people today is not kind. I donât feel guilt for using Tarot before & I am not saying that I know for sure the origins of Tarot. I do not speak for the Romani people or anyone besides myself. All I know is that I do not want to contribute to a culture of cruelty so I will be abstaining from Tarot while I learn & listen more.
2.5 million Romani people were killed in the holocaust & much of their culture is still disparaged & discriminated against today.
I apologize for all thoughtless appropriation that may have happened in my blog, and for the CA that definitely happened. I know better now, and I am so grateful to the people who have taken the time to educate me.
A Note on Cultural Appropriation
If youâre not Native American, its not smudging its smoke cleansing.
If youâre not Native American, its not a spirit animal, itâs an animal guide, patronus or daemon. (And no itâs not a totem animal either.)
If youre not African American or Afro-Carribean, itâs not a voodoo doll itâs a poppet.
Yes, youâre not wrong in pointing out that i just gave you a list of synonyms. No one is saying that these CONCEPTS are inherently appropriation. But specific terms carry their specific ties. Know what ties are for you, and what arenât.
infuse magic into your daily life. sing to your plants. speak loving words to your cosmetics. laugh and uplift your mood with happy thoughts as you cook. place protection over your clothing, home, and car. say positive affirmations as you do your self-care. live with mindful intention.

I went and picked some blackberry stems today to makes some Witchâs Whisks and tonight Iâm going to bless and cleanse them and cut all the thorns off under the full moon đ
In traditional English witchcraft a Whitchâs Whisk was set alight and blown out to smoke, just like a sage wand. The whisk is then used to âdance and weaveâ around the outside of your circle. The intent was to make a boundary for sacred space. The dried blackberry stems are cut and bound together at one end with traditionally red twine for power and protection but you can use any color twine to represent what you need it too. Sometimes the end bound is also covered in a matching colored wax for extra for intent.
The smoke of the whisk was used to exorcise evil entities and negativity, cleanse and consecrate a space, ward off misfortune and banish illnesses from the house and its inhabitants.
A chant which is traditionally associated with blackberries is the following. Chant it three times, knowing that you are invoking the energy of Brigid, the Goddess of Fire, healing and protection along with other things. The same chant is used for healing purposes.
