I Commend You
Requested
Ezekiel strolled through down the hall, towards the annex, a slice of extra-cheese, double-pepperoni pizza held between his fingers. “Jenkins,” he called.
The double doors that separated the annex were closed, but through the glass Ezekiel could see Jenkins at his desk. He was sipping from a cup of tea, his research spread out in front of him.
“Mr. Jones, I am working,” he said, as the doors opened. “I closed those for a reason.”
“And I am here to work too,” Ezekiel replied, a casual ease in his stride. “Is the door fixed?”
“No, not yet,” Jenkins sighed. He walked to the globe, the wires were a fried mess.
The others went through the door three days ago, the globe went up in flames, and there had been no word from anyone. The only two remaining were Ezekiel and Jenkins.
“I tried tracking their phones but got nothing,” Ezekiel announced, abandoning his pizza. “They’re definitely off the grid. I have a notification set up, incase something changes.”
Jenkins paused, looking at Ezekiel for a moment. “Very well, Mr. Jones,” he said. “I’ve been looking through things that could’ve caused the globe to–what did you say? fry?–and so far, I have nothing for certain. Any known artifact that could’ve caused it are in the library or are known to be destroyed.” Jenkins took a moment to think over his work. “I believe they were pulled into another world–alternate universe, pocket dimension, something like that. I can’t tell for certain without further readings, but that is the only thing I can think of that would cause something like this.”
“So how do we solve that?” Ezekiel asked. “What do we have that can track and take us to the others?”
“We have a few things, actually,” Jenkins said. “The Looking Glass…that might work. If we can find a way to bind that to something used by them–any or all of them–it might create a strong enough portal that we could at least get a mark on their whereabouts, and maybe let them through.”
Jenkins walked to the card catalogue. “The mirror is in the hall of mirrors, naturally, but we could use the Eye of Wotan to strengthen the mirror’s power.”
“Where do we keep that?”
“I’ll get that,” Jenkins said. “You get the mirror.”
**
Nearly half an hour later the pair were hooking up wires between the artifacts.
“I have Cassandra’s notebook,” Jenkins said, holding up a small black journal.
“She dropped that on her way out,” Ezekiel nodded. For the first time since his friends had gone missing he felt real fear. “They’ve been gone for so long…”
Jenkins let out a deep breath. “Mr. Jones, if there’s one thing I know about our friends, it’s this: they are alive. They’re strong and, more than that, they’re intelligent. Spending precious time worrying about their safety is something we cannot do. Focus on the task.”
Ezekiel swallowed the knot in his throat and did as he was told, his hands working quickly to connect the items.
A few minutes later, the mirror was shimmering and on the other side were the three other librarians, and their guardian. The four, without hesitation, ran through the mirror–crashing into Ezekiel.
“Thank god!” Eve cheered. “What took you guys so long?”
“The door was–is broken!” Ezekiel said, pointing at the crisp globe.
**
In the annex, hours later stood Ezekiel and Jenkins. Ezekiel was packing up his things, readying to leave.
“You did well today, Mr. Jones,” Jenkins said, not looking up from his now tidy desk. “I commend you.”
“You too, mate,” Ezekiel smiled. “See you tomorrow.”

You have to tell them.
It had become something of a ritual to them that Jenkins brought him some hot chocolate before he went to bed. So today. Ezekiel was not feeling well. Eve had come back slightly beaten from her job. Nothing bad at all, but the thief always painted the worst. The dark circles, that made his non-existent or bad sleep visible, he was fortunately able to hide with make-up. The older man looked at him now and Ezekiel sighed heavily as he accepted the cocoa.
“What are you looking at, Jenkins?” He asked tiredly and sipped at the cup.
“You have to tell them …” he first left open what exactly he meant by that.
“I have to tell whom what?” The dark-haired one asked, avoiding his gaze.
“You exactly know what I mean …” retorted the caretaker, trying to catch his eye. Yes, he knew it, but that doesn’t mean that he would reveal it so easily. Then, after all, it was not who he was.
“I have no idea …” he said and pulled a face as if he did so.
“We both know that’s a lie … You may be a good liar, but you forget that I’ve seen many come and go, so I think I can read people relatively well …” how he was always able to stay so calm, was a mystery that Ezekiel partou wasn’t able to solve.
“All right … It may be that there is something that bothers me … But that’s my problem and not their …”, the librarian sighed resignedly, running his hand through his hair. However, his counterpart did not want to let it stand that way.
“ So?” He asked, taking a chair and sitting down opposite him, his hands folded into his lap.
“Well …” why did he even think about telling him? Either because he was tired, or even if he did not want to admit that to himself, because he hoped that talking about it would be good.
“It’s about the time warp … It’s haunting me, do not let me settle down … "he began to tell with a sigh.
"I’ve seen them die so many times … Could never do anything but watch and try to prevent it next time … Eve … Cassandra, Jake … I’m not as good as they’re. Eve the born Leader who is brave and strong, who regularly saves our asses. Jake who is strong and clever, who can speak dozens of languages, and the wonderful Cassandra … sometimes a little over the top, but incredibly lovable and a math and science genius. Flynn and you are also so much better than I. All I can do is steal … And suddenly I have to take responsibility and I’m responsible for the health of three people and I can not do anything to stop what’s happening. Ever and ever again they die in front of my eyes. Aint it clear that I do not want to think about it or talk about it? But I can not do it, I can not get the pictures out of my head and have to think about it every day … But you know what worst is? I’m just worried. Every damn single once … "the cocoa in his hand had stopped steaming now and he looked up wearily at the older one.
"I can not say I know how you feel Mister Jones, because even though I’m immortal, I’ve never been in a similar situation …” he confessed sympathetically but not compassionately.
“However, I can imagine how bad this must be for you … But listen, it will not get better if you keep trying to handle it all on your own, isn’t it?” He tries to talk well into his conscience. He just did not want that wonderful young man in whom there was so much more than anyone else suspected, so tormented. He put his hand on his knee.
“Promise me one thing … At least try to talk to the others about it.” He tried again while he slowly got up to let the other sleep.
“Jenkins … I promise … But can you do me a favor?” Ezekiel asked and you could feel the barely noticeable uncertainties in his voice. As much as he tried to keep his feelings to himself, this seemed to be a hopeless task this time.
“Do you stay here for the night? Please …!” Jenkins smiled softly and nodded. He would do him the favor, why not? So he sat down again, before the other slid a little to the wall and lifted the blanket, gave him a look, which was statement enough and on which the caretaker sat down to him and said nothing when the thief nestled against him, barely that he seemed to have fallen asleep. He needs rest and taking care of them was his job. At least he tells himself that it was everything it was about.
Jenkins is soft for Ezekiel Jones and its very endearing

consider Ezekiel assuming Jenkins would never like him back so he keeps it to himself forever and then some magic reveals it, how do you think Jenkins would react?
First of all, poor Ezekiel my precious baby I can totally see that happening to him…
And second of all, I feel like Jenkins would be totally thrown for a loop. Bc he’s attractive and he’s been around the block and everything, but he’s old and a little bitter and then here’s young, intelligent, confident Ezekiel who has feelings for him?? Honestly I think he’d probably think it’s some sort of trick or mistake at first, depending on exactly how the magic revealed it. I can imagine Ezekiel being compelled to say it (maybe in front of anyone, that would probably be really humiliating for him, especially with Jake laughing his ass off about it) and Jenkins thinking it’s a joke or the magic making him say something ridiculous until he realizes that somehow it’s true. So he hunts Ezekiel down wherever he’s hiding and licking his wounds, and starts on some speech about how Ezekiel has a lot of promise as a Librarian and there’s no reason a little magical compulsion should change things, Jenkins is perfectly able to forget that the whole thing happened. Except now that it’s in the open and Ezekiel knows Jenkins isn’t going to mock him or anything, he doesn’t want to hide his feelings anymore. Besides, who wouldn’t want to get all up on that if they had the chance? And of course Jenkins can’t resist once it’s offered even though he’s pretty sure Ezekiel would be better off placing his affections elsewhere (though he knows better than most that that’s not always possible). So Ezekiel gets his man even though he never thought he would, and Jenkins is just as surprised as anybody.
Hi, hello! I have a request, if it inspires you. Hey, I gotchu ;) I meant for this to get to you a lot sooner than it did, but hopefully the fluff in the end will make up for it. I really, really hope you enjoy, friend!
In other news, my new goal is to slowly take over this fanbase with rarepairs until the end of my days.

I've just done another rewatch of The Librarians, and due to a combo of the show, fandom, and myself; I find myself needing to read some Jake/Jenkins, and was wondering if you'd be willing to write some? Perhaps something h/c-y, or just some general domestic-ness (in or out of the library, whichever is easier). Whether you decide to or not, I appreciate you taking the time to read this. Have a good day.
Hi there! I gotta say, this is probably the most endearingly written request I have ever received. I read it, an idea formed, and then it got stuck in my head so I couldn’t not write it.
It was so much fun writing for a ship that I haven’t before. I did this as more of a fic, but if you want more (like h/c-y stuff) feel free to come back :D
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this cute little blurb :)
