I donât know how to talk to my friends anymore
literally I feel paralyzed
I donât know how to talk to my friends anymore
another night of listening to lord i need you in the dark with tears streaming down the sides of my face heheÂ
âI have almost never worked with an abused woman who overlooked her partnerâs humanity. The problem is reverse: He forgets her humanity. Acknowledging his abusiveness and speaking forcefully and honestly about how he has hurt her is indispensable to her recovery. It is the abuserâs perspective that she is being mean to him by speaking bluntly about the damage he has done. To suggest to her that his need for compassion should come before her right to live free from abuse is consistent with the abuserâs outlook. I have repeatedly seen the tendency among friends and acquaintances of an abused woman to feel that it is their responsibility to make sure that she realizes what a good person he really is inside - in other words, stay focused on his needs rather than her own, which is a mistake. People who wish to help an abused woman should instead be telling her what a good person she is.â

if i lay in bed will that mean i'm succumbing to my depression again
bell hooks mentioned going through a time in her life where she was severely depressed and suicidal and how the only way she got through it was through changing her environment: She surrounded her home with buddhas of all colors, Audre Lordeâs A Litany for Survival facing her as she wakes up, and filling the space she saw everyday with reinforcing objects and meaningful books. She asks herself each day, âWhat are you going to do today to resist domination?â I also really liked it when she said that in order to move from pain to power, it is crucial to engage in âan active rewriting of our lives.â
I feel like I don't have a future
I say this a lot and I'm saying it again (hopefully to keep myself accountable fr this time), but I really need to start consistently working out. I'm sad that it doesn't come from pure/non-shallow intentions anymore... whereas I previously wanted to work out specifically to be and feel strong, now it comes from a place of sheer desperation to not hate my physical self. and maybe I'll have healthily exercised for months on end and my body still won't look any different, but at the very least I'll know that I wasn't just sitting around and doing nothing. I just need to focus on setting myself in motion before worrying about anything else right now
this summer was everything i didnât do. summer just haunted me, i mean. if there is anything i must take to heart from these few months of all the things i didnât do, itâs (ever so relentlessly) donât waste time. make art once a week no matter how fucking shitty it looks or you feel, write everyday whether itâs a day recap or how sad youâll be when the simpsons will end once the voice actors all die, donât stop reading the science section of google news, donât skip the just one hour of calculus daily, and i guess most importantly: never allow yourself to wake up and breathe a little despair. because when a little settles, the rest will rise so suddenly like a wildfire, burgeoning through your lungs and youâll end up walking with worse posture, flinching when somebody speaks, forgetting your potential to grow, forgetting all the things you can do during the time it will take.
