“mhm.” she responded, smiling as she held onto his hand tighter. it was so easy to be with him, hard to imagine the days before they met. the pain, the hurt the emotions, it was all worth it, their cluster stronger than ever, her family – their family.
she kissed the top of his head, shaking her own. “i don’t think it’s sad.” they all made it out alive and that counts for something. but as long as whispers is still out there, they would never be completely safe.
“you’re stronger than you realize, love.” the fireworks were going off, the beautiful colours painting such a pretty and nostalgic picture, but her eyes were still drawn to him. constantly in disbelief that they’re in the same place.
“not as much as you, that’s for sure. i wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.” his ear itched--a weird quirk of his whenever he felt like he was being watched. a smile later and he was off her lap, passionate pulls forcing his love below and in front of him instead of the fireworks.
“you know, i was feelin’ a little off today, but you definitely turned me on,” laughed him in a hush as he cradled her close as he hovered over her, gentle fingers prying the little hairs that did so much as dare to obstruct her face from his eyes.
one kiss, two, three, on her lips and anywhere else on her skin. hers. in his hands, skin to skin. he could feel her warmth, the goosebumps on her flesh. every inch, head to toe, she was real. and she was right there with him. alive.
