✨ About ✨ Rules ✨
Haven't drawn a Braixen in awhile
"UUHHH, SORT'VE." Mari shrugs, mildly disappointed. Turning to stand side-by-side with Nicole, the rider lifts her gaze skyward towards the canopy where she had fallen from. The sunlight, even dappled through the leaves, is enough to make one squint, but there is a low-hanging mist in the air that's more noticeable from up above.
"The fog is a bit too thick to see properly. Not that I'm aching to find out for myself or anything. It just gives me a better idea of what this place probably was." Mirroring Nicole, Mari plants her own hands on her hips.
"Apparently if you know where to look, there are exposed parts of the old wyrmways you can find. They're everywhere but most of the trees have all but swallowed them up. So weird."
Not that Mari often thought about these sort of things, but occasionally they tickled her fancy, especially when she was reminded of the ruins back home on Hakolo. She wondered if Wyveria was any older or younger than the ancient peoples that had established the temples in the old Island Guardian's territory.
She turns back to friend then, brow raised. "And what are you doing out here by your lonesome? I thought you were with Alma and Nata."
“So. . .goin’ from ground might be better. Especially since tree coverage an’ apparently fog.” There’s a quick glance through bits of the canopy, a soft squint, before her gaze turns back to Mari once again.
It makes her wonder what they could see.
Going from the ground was just going through it. They can’t see from above. . .
While Mari openly told her it wasn’t a necessity, just a curiosity, it was infectious. Now Nicole was curious too. What would these wyrmways lead to?
“Tha’ is weird. . .” Budding curiosity coming in a murmured agreement, from her hips to folded across her chest, she reaches up and begins tugging on her bangs in thought. Flight didn’t work and walking was just as blind being directly on the path.
Maybe their Monsties would be better to lead that expedition if they truly wanted to go. A thought, but maybe. After all they would be better suited to warn them of approaching dangers.
Ideas interrupted as Mari calls attention to her own actions, and she lowers her arms once more. Sheepishly, she smiles then looks over at her accompanying Monstie.
A soft shake of her head as she turns her attention back to Mari. “They’re at base. Mizuno had onna them annoyin’ itchy scale problems. Took care o’ tha’ an’ then he wanted me ta brush him afta he scratched up agains’ some rocks in tha water. So we were jus’ kinda chillin’. When ya literally dropped in.”
ཐི ( ᶠᶸᶜᵏ ᵧₒᵤ! ) ཋྀ ︶꒷꒦︶ ๋ ⊱༒︎ At first, Aluin gives an exaggerated CLAP --- truly impressed by her power and feeling SAFER already --- but they are true opposites --- a fact that has slipped Aluin's mind, and within a few seconds, the light starts to tingle his undead skin, ALLERGIC to the sun and most things ( TRULY ) Divine as a little shadow bat made from DARK corruption. But he WOULDN'T DARE say Nicole's light burns him, nope, he likes it there for both of them.
So he tries to act nonchalant while trying to very slightly shield himself from it with his hoodie ; zipping it tight with one hand hood up ; stubborn about letting go of Nicole's hand for even a moment.
❝ I'm...COLD. ❞ He feels the need to lie so as not to cause worry, and hopes she will forget that he doesn't feel the cold like Alois or humans do.
Now, in his little happy hoodie of protection, he pulls her forward, and thanks to the light, it is easy to step around the broken glass, wood, and other obstacles. However, thanks to Aluin's extreme curiosity, he had to stop and look into several rooms. Each is just as run-down, dusty, and broken as the next, with some old equipment and chairs thrown around the place.
❝ I don't understand GHOSTS --- why live in the place you died? And if you can fucking throw things at people, why not try picking up a little ? ❞ Silly complaints when kicking around some rubble to get through the hallway.
❝ I guess they can just go through all of this shit, but come on, they can't like the mess. Why not hunt somewhere FUN --- like a McDonald's playpen --- or a pizzeria with animatronics? Nicole, you look like you would hunt a Disneyland. ❞
She doesn’t even think of the fact it could harm him. The fact that it could be anything other than a mimicry of day.
So it’s when he mentions he’s cold, she gives a gentle tilt of her head. It didn’t feel wholly cold to her. But then again, they weren’t the same species. Maybe he really was cold, and all she could do was step closer to him. Just in some attempt to share body heat with him.
Just to make sure he doesn’t freeze over before they find anything.
“—I don’t think they got a choice. Ghosts tend ta be where their memories are strongest, as far as I know. An’ wha’s stronger than tha very visceral memory o’ where ya died?” All she can do is give a tiny little laugh at his complaint. He was right and wrong all at once.
But she’ll explain that later. For now, she’ll let him have it.
“Okay animatronics would be horrifyin’. Why not a toy factory? Somethin’ softer an’ cuter.” And she can’t help but shoot Aluin a glare. A faux, playful one. But still. “Disney? Seriously? Ya couldn’ even give me Universal?”
There's a very needy Aluin snuggling his cheek into Nicole's as he softly hugs her. "You will ALWAYS love me, right? No matter what? Unconditionally? I heard that is what mothers do."
-- @babiibats
Affection wasn’t uncommon between the triplets and Nicole. In fact, it was surprising to not see at least one display of affection.
For now though, she’s absolutely caught in the trap of Aluin’s embrace. The way his cheek is nuzzling into hers. It was clear something was wrong.
The thing about affection is when a person receives enough of it, they start noticing the little things. Such as the desperation in Aluin’s grip on her. The way he’s nuzzling her not necessarily for care, but for comfort more than anything else.
And her answers are all but answered when he asked his questions. Well, she thinks her actions should have spoken for her by now. Nicole has seen the worst of him, or at least something close to the worst of him. And she’s still here, isn’t she?
Her arms come to wrap around him. Stroking his back gently, just trying to offer a little more comfort than he had before. “Yeah, I’m here. And I ain’t goin’ nowhere neither.”
ཐི [+..••] ཋྀ ︶꒷꒦︶ ๋ ⏻ㅤ The slight touch got a curl of the corner of his lip, but it was short-lived once the confidence was found to look her in the eyes. His stare is soft as one of his fingers playfully "boops" her on the nose — while in his mind -- cursing himself for not being BRAVE enough to ACT. There are wishes to be more like Aluin ; so SCARED of pain, he can rip the band-aid off so no one else can... but Alois knows too well that comes with its own issues just watching Aluin, so he sighs, unsure what to do.
He's sure Nicole wouldn't mind a KISS or a HUG-----such acts, all of them do as she is part of the family. But she is specifically PAID to watch over him ( so weak he could fall and not get up ), so it feels like there's extra distance between them despite MAYBE being the closest. It feels WRONG, like hitting on a service worker, but his crush grows healthier and STRONGER every year ; like a flower blooming in the spring.
Seeing no other way forward, he does decide to take a page out of Aluin's book----with some difficulty--- lifts Nicole like a princess playfully.
❝ Thou canst not comprehend the power I hast. Thou should'st be bruised for one. LIVE, PLAY. The day is yours, be spoiled for once. ❞ His arms and legs, they are shaking like a baby dear...even if he tries to act like a confident knight.
The little boop of her nose did garner a smile from her. It was so cute! And at least Alois was seeming to have fun from it.
His sigh brought questions, she knew she wasn’t exactly good at this kind of game. She was far better at taking orders rather than giving them. At best, the most she should be able to hope for that he just enjoys being with her like he usually does.
Alois does manage to surprise her though!
When she’s lifted off her feet, carried in his arms almost akin to a princess, her brain literally short circuits for a moment. Her arms come to wrap around his shoulders, just for support in case his arms falter under her weight. She can feel him shaking, and absolutely does not believe he’ll last long.
“The power you have? I know you’re one of the strongest folks I know! But maybe…maybe don’t break yet arms tryna hold me up, yeah?”
˚₊‧ཐི 𓆩 🜲 𓆪 ཋྀ ‧₊˚ ︶꒷꒦︶ ๋ ⊱༒︎ There's a little pout while she twiddles her fingers in contemplative silence, truly trying to comprehend Nicole's words. Amber feels as if she's always left in the DARK around her family ; people always just say things so she doesn't worry----- AND this could be one of those times... Uncertain how to voice her concerns, Amber nods and tries to accept that all of this is fact and just not PRETTY WORDS for her ears.
❝ I wasn't trying to judge you... ❞ Is mumbled, eyes now falling to the ground. ❝ You're a QUEEN... Nicole, a QUEEN. I just want you to live like one. ❞ And she refuses to let her brothers treat her any other way----or even her very own father.
❝ So Aluin is disabled? But, I am allowed to be mean to him, right? ❞
Amber wasn’t a gamer. And it would honestly take a gamer to understand it all to begin with. She could sit here and explain herself to the vampire until she was blue in the face, but she has no belief that it would actually work. Short of making Amber sit with her and get a first hand show of just how gamers talk. . .
Nah.
She wouldn’t do that to her. There was a level of toxicity in the speech that would make her think Nicole hates everyone around her. When no, there’s just a level of aggression needed.
“. . .” Like her brothers, Amber in her own way also loves Nicole. And all the ginger could do was step forward, and kiss the vampire on the forehead. “I know. And I thank ya. I promise ya they do treat me right.”
As she spoke of Aluin and his very own stubbornness, she could only stare for a moment before shaking her head. “Listen. Wha’ happens between yall is between yall. I ain’ involved in any bullyin’ so long as nuffin’ turns physical.”
Nata is feeding Ratha a helping of Kunafan naan and cheese, with Mari supervising. One might watch as the razewing so cautiously takes the bread from one end into his beak, ever so careful to avoid snatching Nata's fingers in the process. Once Nata pulls his hand away from the monstie companion, Ratha hangs onto the bread for a moment more, before taking the rest into his mouth and swallowing it down.
"Yup, polite until the first bite. Then he just horfs it down." Mari comments, hands on her hips. Nata cannot help but giggle.
-- @rathalascendant
“He’s a good boy. An’ someone spoiled him. So now he got no qualms about beggin’ fer food ‘er doing that.” Nicole can’t help but laugh, as if she wasn’t part of the problem to begin with. As if she didn’t help Ratha get to the level of spoiled he is.
And as if she didn’t do it to her own Monstie too. Mizuno has learned the ‘pout’ from Ratha and he’s it to great effect.
“Don’t worry though, Nata. He’s good about not bitin’ folks who don’t deserve it.”
It's Mother's Day, so the triplets are leaving her so many little flowers and chocolates around the place like a treasure hunt.
-- @babiibats (feat. Aluin, Alois, and Amber)
". . ." Needless to say, she's very confused by the sudden influx of chocolate and flowers.
The first few pieces, she assumes are just left behind carelessly.
But the more she finds, the more she collects, it's becoming more evident to her that these were done deliberately. They were left too neatly, nothing was crushed, the flowers were arranged with great care. None of the wrappers on the chocolate were torn. . .
And they were all in spots that she frequented.
With a gentle exhale, she gives a fond little shake of her head. At least the triplets care. With any luck, they'll indulge her and share in the little treats with her. And maybe help her arrange all the flowers she's been collecting.
HER BREATHING WAS UNEASY, like a child that had woken from a nightmare. Bright light shined past the lids of her eyes, almost blinding and making Thea groan with displeasure. So still she had laid upon the bed, like a stone that had gathered moss . . . and she felt like one too.
As she shifted in the bed, frowning instinctively at the dull throbbing in her skull, Thea heard the sound of a small ungulate's curious snuffling and oinking near one of her ears. "Pookie . . ." Immediately, Thea crossed her arms over her stomach and cradled it, anticipating that the poogie might bounce onto her (He'd woken her up doing so before.)
But amidst the rustle of bedsheets and Pookie's snuffling, the girl heard a voice at the other end of the small room. She might have anticipated that it was Kora's, or Ogden's, or even the Captain's. It wasn't.
In fact, it wasn't familiar at all.
With a sudden jolt, Thea shoots up from the bed, making Pookie squeal in surprise. "Huh?!" Eyes the color of fresh spring grass widened, finding an older girl standing nearby at the doorway. She appeared to be in some sort of barracks, with warm sunlight streaming through a tall window.
"What happened?! Did I pass out?!"
@gamenu liked for thea!
A raise of an eyebrow, and she finally sits up from being hunched over her sketchbook.
“—I reckon ya did, Kiddo.”
Pencil down, standing with a stretch, the ginger walks over and sits on the edge of the bed. Now that the kid was awake, she could probably get a better idea of what exactly happened.
“First thin’s first. Yer Tobi Kadachi is safe. He’s in tha stables righ’ now. We found all three o’ ya tagether. He was curled around ya, tryna keep ya safe, it seems. An’ yer little Poogie here, Pookie? I heard ya say. Makes a phenomenal model.” A compliment here and there. Just something light hearted to hopefully put her more at ease.
With a soft tilt of her head, the ginger tries to get a better look at her new pink companion. “Wha’s yer name? I’m Nicole. Friends can call me ‘Nic’.”
ㅤㅤ ︶꒷꒦︶ ๋ ˚₊‧ཐི 𓆩 🜲 𓆪 ཋྀ ‧₊˚ Amber stops her dance with one final dramatic SPIN around Nicole --- mindlessly dragging decorative heels amongst shattered pieces of the disk for the last time. It was already broken ; there's no point in not dancing on the remains she thought ----- despite being fairly ignorant of the FACT that someone ( likely Nicole ) will have to clean that up... ❛ I don't watch ANYTHING like that... but I still live in the VAMPIRE DEN with my family. My ears are sensitive, you know... and some of the noises I hear. I expected from Aluin, but Alois... ❜
Pale cheeks inflate into rose balloons ; little demons on her shoulder are singing SECRETS that were not hers to share. Granted, those sounds she's complaining about from Alois's room are MISUNDERSTOOD. Anime already has questionable dialogue from time to time, but gamer dialogue was something she didn't get at all.
SUCK IT. Fuck you. Ahh, yeah, you like that. He's one shot! Call me Kitten, and I'll heal you. ADS -- FRAG -- G R I N D I N G
❛ I swear I've heard you say bad things for Alois on the computer-- ! ! Are you telling me you do that for F R E E ? NICOLE-- get paid!! ❜ She pays no mind to admitting eavesdropping when question about the disc.
❛ He's REALLY OLD. I thought there's a saying --- can't teach old dogs new tricks -- or something LIKE THAT. Doesn't it mean old people can't LEARN... I was told it's not NICE to make fun of people's disabilities. ❜
“I—“ Okay, now she sees how Amber could absolutely misconstrued all of that. After all, she wasn’t a gamer. At most she played little phone games on Nicole’s phone at times. But nothing more than that. And even those didn’t exactly hold her attention for too long.
Another exasperated sigh, and she shakes her head. “I understand how bad tha’ sounds. I absolutely promise ya, it ain’ nuffin’ like yer really hearin’.”
There’s no real way for her to explain it either. Other than gamers are weird and say things most normal people don’t grasp in many capacities. “We. . .say weird shit all tha time. Most times though, unless yer playin’ tha game er at least watchin’. . .high key chance everythin’ said is gonna be outta context an’ way worse.”
A tiny pause, then she gives a tiny laugh. “I swear, bein’ old ain’ a disability. Bein’ stubborn might as well be though.”
"TRYING TO GET A HIGHER VANTAGE POINT!" Despite her predicament, Mari simply grins from ear to ear, welcoming the help as she briefly pauses in her own work to offer that smile to her friend. Trying to sit up better, the rider begins cutting through branches one by one, and with their combined teamwork it doesn't take more than thirty seconds for her to pull herself free.
Brushing away the brambles that still nicked the fabric of her gear, Mari sweeps her shoulders clean. "Ah, I don't need to call on the monsties all the time just to get a view. Despite the size of the trees, the Scarlet Forest's not all that big. Some of the wudwuds say you can see the outer bailey of Wyveria from here."
“Really?” Spoken almost with disbelief as she glanced skyward into the canopy. By all accounts, there were a lot of things for them to climb. But also a lot of places for them to slip and fall.
“Well. . .I’d rather keep my feet on the ground ‘er in tha water where I have more control.” At least if she got knocked off of Mizuno in the water, she wouldn’t be in danger of a free fall to her demise.
Or in this case, falling from high up and being saved only by the grace of the flora around them. Once free, she gives the rider room to stand properly. Her hands coming to rest on her hips, weight to one side, and she looks back up once more before looking to Mari.
“—Did ya see it? Tha outer bailey of Wyveria?”
︶꒷꒦︶ ๋ ࣭ ⭑꒷꒦ Those sheepish cheeks hang down with matching eyes that gaze at the floor. Alois looks ASHAMED of himself. Silence falls upon him for a moment when thoughts race through his mind.
HOW DOES HE TELL HER HE WANTS HER TO COMMAND HIM TO KISS HER FEET ---- ??? How does he explain that he wants to give her a back massage? GIVE HER A BATH ---- treat her like a Q U E E N . He would do ANYTHING she asked of him. The troubling thoughts make his voice come out weak.
❛ I... could... I-I could. ❜ He has to clear his throat and fight against his racing heart. A little blood drips from his nose. ❛... I could... carry you around... or... Simon Says. ❜
Nicole can’t help the confused tilt of her head as she watches him. Waiting for an answer, and wondering what could have elicited such a reaction in him. No matter what, she’s patient. She can wait.
And it seems waiting has its rewards, because she did get an answer. Or something akin to one.
It sounded like more than anything, Alois simply wanted to play games with her. Not necessarily video games, but those of childhood. Because what was Simon Says if not the game version of their little bet?
Reaching out gently, she dabs at his nose with her sleeve, cleaning the blood off of his face. “Well, I got two legs that ain’t broke. So ya don’t really gotta carry me. . .but we can probs play some games ‘er run some drills that involve contact, if that’s what yer worried about.”
︶꒷꒦︶ ๋ ࣭ ⭑꒷꒦ THERE WAS NO WAY IN HELL he was going to let Nicole l e a d the charge into a demon-infested building. Sure, she is no mere mortal, but she is his SWEET AND CARING MOTHER. She will not come to HARM -- after all, she did not survive his father's tyranny for so many years just to be KILLED here because Aluin wants to do something STUPID. Thus, he VERY gently takes her hand, and yet he moves her to the side so he can enter first, firearm in hand.
❛ Found it. ❜ He refers to holding her hand as making him "happy" while stepping a foot deeper in cautiously. Abandoned, old, dusty, with far too many spider webs to count. For an abandoned Asylum, he oddly thought it would look, or even feel, more special. Aluin can not smell nor detect GHOSTS ; he can, however, smell the Demonic rot coming from the basement.
Something AWFUL is here : something AWFUL HAPPENED here.
The vampire thought they were rumors, but there might REALLY be a portal to H E L L . Here's hoping he can keep them in the upper levels.
❛ This place is kind of fucked... Shit--- maybe we should have brought some equipment, like an EMF... Any ideas? ❜ Aluin didn't really have a PLAN ; he just wanted that Necronomicon that was hidden here by Alucard, and he's all action, no BRAINS.
❛ Oh--- You're going to need a flashlight. If you need to, you can borrow my phone. ❜ He can see in the dark just fine, but he worries for Nicole... and for the batteries in both of their phones in case of emergencies. Nicole has to make it out NO MATTER WHAT.
She wasn’t entirely sure what they’re looking for. But all she knows is that this place was bad news. It still wasn’t going to stop her from wandering around. From seeing what was what. Especially since Aluin was accompanying her now.
With her hand now in his, she let him take the front and move in first.
“Hm. . .” This place seemed really wrong. Not wrong enough to turn around though. The innate human curiosity along with the subconscious feeling of knowing she’ll be better off than what most think is the sole thing keeping her going in this endeavor.
But his idea of a plan. . .they probably should have a contingency plan. But they’re just exploring, right? What else could be needed for that?
Instead of taking his phone, she held out her hand, a small ball of light coming to form in the palm, and floating just lightly above. It was enough to illuminate the hall in front of them. “—I’d rather ya save yer phone battery. If we need ta make a call, we need all tha juice we got.”
Divine light, it should keep some of the demons away, with hope.
Not that she knows. To her, it’s just a mimicry of daylight she can conjure. “Lead tha way, Aluin.”
❛❛ You look like you need a hug. Come here. ❜❜
-- @mebuku
“Haha. . .that obvious?” She can’t exactly hide how she feels often. Nicole is not good at it for someone who wears her heart on her sleeve.
All the same, she walks right over to Hikaru and leans against him. Resting her head on his shoulder and lazily draping her arms around his abdomen in a loose hug. She’ll hug tighter when he hugs her back, of course.
ふわふわひらひら。・*
"UHHHH . . . NO. I MEAN, OTHER THAN MY PRIDE BEIN' WOUNDED, SURE . . ." It's not the first time she's ended up in a bush like this, and it probably won't be the last. But, at least she'd landed on her backside rather than her head. Reaching to rub the back of her head sheepishly, Mari offers a lopsided grin.
"Give me a sec' to grab my carving knife. Sorry to uh . . . drop in on ya like that . . ."
“Nah, me and Mizuno are always happy ta have some company.” She can’t help but give a soft laugh as she reaches for her own little pocket knife.
Flicking the blade out, she begins to help cut Mari out of the brush. Her own lopsided smile as she works, and she can’t help but pry. “An’ how did ya end up here, huh? I know Ratha ain’ drop ya. So wha’ were ya doin’?”
