I WILL ONLY ENGAGE WITH MUNS AGES EIGHTEEN AND UP. While I have no interest in writing smut or nsfw whatsoever regardless of my muse, I am entering my thirties and with each passing year I find it more awkward and uncomfortable to write with younger individuals.

This blog is free of any sexual / suggestive nsfw! My muse is a minor and regardless, smut has never been my cup of tea. I am also tentative to shipping and romance. "WELL I WASN'T JUST GOING TO STAND THERE and wait to see if you could weasel yourself out." Mari reaffirms, arms crossed over her chest as she turns her gaze onto the younger. The girl seemed to be only a few years younger than her, maybe a bit more, but no younger than the average tween.

Behind them, two older boys, roughly Mari's age, are scurrying away like canynes with their tails between their legs. She scoffed at how quickly they turned tail, but honestly for the other's sake? She doesn't mind that they didn't put up much of a fight.

"At the very least, I wanted to even out the playing field." Then she drops her arms from her chest, head canting slightly with subtle concern. "You okay? Did they hurt you? Aue . . ."

HAVING A ROUGH NIGHT? Ratha leans slightly on his side some more, and extends his wing into the air. He knows some human body language at this point, and that people perceive this as a welcoming gesture. That was the exact intent.

He has done it a thousand times for his Mari, as she him. A comforting companion to rest beside . . . to be their guardian.

"WE'RE TRYING TO FIGURE THAT OUT." Mari replies as her copper gaze wanders towards the pit in the distance. A few days ago, a venomous pink light had radiated from its depths, and its vibrating hum could be heard from a mile away. After felling the monster that had been driven mad by it, Mari witnessed the pit fall quiet, and its hush has remained since.

"Ever since Loloska though, I swear I . . . I hear something. A presence, and it makes me feel nauseous, like some heavy weight is suddenly bearing down on my shoulders." She murmurs. "Whatever the case, I'm pretty sure whatever the culprit is . . . isn't my Red. Things just don't line up enough for Ratha to be responsible at this point."

     Hibiscus. That's easily doable. But he's drawn in further for the way she speaks of her home. It sounds tropical. Warm and bright. And with two seasons that informs much of the planet's axis tilt, all of which will be helpful in locating it.      But while useful in that regard (and noted for such research) it's less so for the reason he asked. Yet even still, her initial information can be a starting point.

     ❝Even muted browns and greens can be lovely in the right environment. But there's always a warmth inherent to vivid colors.❞ She and her friend are both valid in their preferences.      Hands are cupped forth, a golden light forming between, and when it dims a flower can be seen blossoming like a timelapse. Per her minimal description it's certainly something tropical; vibrant green stem shoots forth to a vivid blue center with wide, neon orange petals spiraling around in a tall cup.      Yet before final growth it seems to slow to a crawl, Dan Heng gesturing with it toward Mari. ❝Am I anywhere close at all?❞ What aspects to adjust? Change entirely? ❝I can do hibiscus but I'd like to try your more unique native flora.❞

SHE INHALES, SILENT BREATH HELD as its taken in with awe. No longer fearful or even the slightest bit confused by his gifts, Mari has accepted Dan Heng and his powers as they come. Those copper hues of her gaze light up as she looks upon the flower which gently spirals into existence from between the older's palms. Mari finally exhales in a small, transfixed sigh.

"You never cease to amaze me, Dan Heng." Says the rider, a subtle shake of the head done in wonderment. Then, a trickle of a laugh, light as a bell. "Hehe. You're getting there. It's like if you took a tiger lily and mixed it up with something else."

Now that she thought about it longer, more names started to pop up in her head. "There's also stargazers, I think. Not native to where m' from but I've seen them in drawings. They're described as 'looking like the heavens' when they open up."

Seeing as Dan Heng enjoyed hearing about her homeland, Mari felt comfortable rambling a bit. "There's a lot of animals that have adapted to look like plant life, y'know? Back in Terga, there are these tiny terrestrial eels. The locals' call em' wigglers. They've got these funny frills that make them look like flowers."

"RIGHT, HANG ON A SEC." Mari waves off Arven's otherwise clear anxiety, hand brushing past a nest of thick ferns and soil. The beat of a heart is faint beneath the cover, but given that she had become attuned more and more to the native species around here, Mari couldn't quite tell if it was a nest of pokemon . . . or something else.

The ferns finally clear with the gentle sweep of her arms, revealing . . . eggs with earthy shells, still warm. Mari feels herself bristle, shoulders shivering at the evidence of fresh life.

Their surroundings told of danger, but not quite like that of a pokemon's. The terraformed earth and rended trees told of something far larger, far more monstrous. "Arven, do you know anything that lays eggs like these?"

Already, she fears something far worse: these eggs weren't native.

The felicid had forgotten he called out to Ratha upon finding this horrific scene. The Narcagua’s corpse had no scent of blood on it. In fact, it looks like nothing had even fought with it… aside from the sharp, crystalline spires jutting from its body that entranced Airin.

So, he jumps a mile high—flipping on a dime when he hears Mari and Ratha approach. " ...I did not do this. "

INITIALLY, MARI DOESN'T RESPOND. Rather, she hops off of Ratha post-haste, swinging her leg around and letting herself fall to the earth whilst her mount slowed into a trot. Purposeful in her steps, she jogs to Airin's side to investigate the site of the ruin.

The air is dense with a fading mist that glittered with crystal fragments. All around, they linger like pesky gnats, some flaking off of the spires and carrying with the breeze. It's a quiet atmosphere; solemnly quiet, for no birds sing or cry or so much as take to the sky.

Either they had all fled, or they weren't lucky enough to do so. "I'd be shocked if you did," Mari finally comments, kneeling at the head of the fresh Nargacuga corpse. Strangely, there was indeed no blood, nor flesh rendered or fur missing. In fact, she might say that it looked like it had none of these features to begin with.

. . . It was as if, it had been frozen—turn to crystalline stone. Tentative, Mari reaches out towards one of the spires, and lets her fingers brush against its surface. She watches as more crystal flakes off like birch bark into the wind, falling part at her touch.

"What in the . . ." Instinctively, Mari could feel her shoulders bristle from under her cloth and pauldrons. As she rises to her feet once more, the rider drinks in the sight of the spires, which had erupted from the ground seemingly in waves.

"It doesn't even look like it got the chance to realize what was happening. It had to have been quick," She remarks.

“Can you hear that?”

While the young High Elder would've normally asked questions of "who are you" and "why are you here" would normally leave her lips... A startling noise has her pausing and glancing off in the direction it came from. It sounded possibly like a Malefic Ape- No wait. It sounded possibly bigger? It was only for a split second though and there's no sounds of anything approaching that she can see.

Did she perhaps hallucinate it? But only the other could answer that.

"YEAH, I HEAR IT . . ." Her voice is low and soft, almost a whisper. From the disruptive sound of another somewhere in the midst of this divine landscape, vibrations came forth, and Mari could briefly feel them crawl up her legs and into her spine. It was a feeling that sent goosebumps—that made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

. . . Unfortunately, however, she could not tell what it was. The beasts of the Loufu were an entirely different breed from what she was used to—often infected by the influence of Yaoshi, ginkgo leaves spreading from faults in their frames. She was not attuned to them like she was the monsters of her homeland, and after having learned of the presence of mara, she's grateful that she wasn't.

She shudders to think of what she might hear, if it were otherwise. Maintaining an air of duty, the rider stowed away her typically cool and blase manner of speaking in favor of something more befitting the situation. "You're Lady Bailu, yes?"

She clears her throat. "I'm with Lieutenant Yanqing of the Cloud Knights." Whereas the younger had come here on swift order, Mari had chosen to accompany him out of a sense of duty, despite being outside the Cloud Knights. Aside from having a vested interest in the Scalegorge Waterscape, she felt she could apply herself to the situation.

"He came here on account of an anomalous occurrence . . . we were both told to find you."

As I replay MHS3 for the second time, I'm seeing how chill most individuals outside of Azuria and Vermeil are with riders, even among those who view them as 'transgressors.' The stigma is no longer because they happen to ride monsters, its because their ancestors have committed actual misdeeds (the Rift War)

I think Mari would see how Corbin reacted so positively to meeting the Rangers and be delighted and relieved. Amazed even, to see how far other communities have come from how riders used to be viewed, even two hundred years after the Rift War.

It would be a little disorienting, sure, but ultimately she'd feel glad to be able to put her distrust of hunters and outsiders behind her, especially when she learns that Ena has become a councilor for the Royal Scriveners.

         “Really?” Spoken almost with disbelief as she glanced skyward into the canopy. By all accounts, there were a lot of things for them to climb. But also a lot of places for them to slip and fall.

         “Well. . .I’d rather keep my feet on the ground ‘er in tha water where I have more control.” At least if she got knocked off of Mizuno in the water, she wouldn’t be in danger of a free fall to her demise.

          Or in this case, falling from high up and being saved only by the grace of the flora around them. Once free, she gives the rider room to stand properly. Her hands coming to rest on her hips, weight to one side, and she looks back up once more before looking to Mari.

         “—Did ya see it? Tha outer bailey of Wyveria?”

"UUHHH, SORT'VE." Mari shrugs, mildly disappointed. Turning to stand side-by-side with Nicole, the rider lifts her gaze skyward towards the canopy where she had fallen from. The sunlight, even dappled through the leaves, is enough to make one squint, but there is a low-hanging mist in the air that's more noticeable from up above.

"The fog is a bit too thick to see properly. Not that I'm aching to find out for myself or anything. It just gives me a better idea of what this place probably was." Mirroring Nicole, Mari plants her own hands on her hips.

"Apparently if you know where to look, there are exposed parts of the old wyrmways you can find. They're everywhere but most of the trees have all but swallowed them up. So weird."

Not that Mari often thought about these sort of things, but occasionally they tickled her fancy, especially when she was reminded of the ruins back home on Hakolo. She wondered if Wyveria was any older or younger than the ancient peoples that had established the temples in the old Island Guardian's territory.

She turns back to friend then, brow raised. "And what are you doing out here by your lonesome? I thought you were with Alma and Nata."

"EH-HEH-HEH!" HER GIGGLE IS LIKE THE CHIME OF A BELL, gentle, short and full of delight. That faint little gurgle has not gone unheard, and as her little salmon friend squeaks out those little words, Mari holds him up proudly. "Oh, you're sooo freaking cute!"

She brings him to her face to nuzzle his nose with the scarred bridge of her own. She was going to spoil this thing to the ends of the earth if she can, just like she did her monsties. // @shibemuses - continued.
