Happy Father’s day~!

Why don't I post more often? Work. Lots of work.

So honestly this blog of mine was going good at first. Then I hit the roadblock of classes and working. It gets tough to balance both of those and a gaming hobby. I still keep up on all the huge news about PlayStation and areas in the industry. I still play my games, I have finished the first 2 God of Wars from my God of War Saga, Dishonored, Tomb Raider, Wipeout 2048 and still have a backlog of about 11 games waiting to be played and another 4 needed more progress made. Doing this blog on my own just tends to get difficult. Maybe someday soon I will be able to work on it more when school slows down.

OK so instead of posting all 4 videos that Sony has released over the past few days, I am adding a link to the site that has them all. I am going to assume this is also the site that will have a live feed of the PlayStation Event come this Wednesday. You can also sign up to get an email when it is ready to start. I think they have run out of things though so I am unsure if they are giving Tuesday as a break or have a sneak peak tomorrow. Just be ready!

Thoughts on Sony's PlayStation Announcement

Frist off, I don't believe it will be named Orbis. While I like the name (it's catchy and different), Sony will follow tradition and call it the PlayStation 4. Second, I really like the fact Sony is holding their reveal outside of a major event such as E3 and Gamescom. Each of the big 2 companies (Wii U is already out so lets avoid Nintendo) deserve to have their own reveal conference and let E3 show off the games this year.

Now the conference for this is suppose to be huge, even getting it's own teaser trailer (see video below). I have read that there will be a lot of people going from the gaming industry (IGN is who I really noticed so far), and rightfully so. What the actual console itself will look like I have no idea since no photos have leaked. However, the power of it has through the dev. kits and it is reported to be more powerful than Microsofts next-generation console.

Sadly, I have read that since the chipsets has been made by a company who did not work on the PS3, backwards compatibility will be unlikely, which is definitely a "must buy launch day" killer. My PS2 library was huge and newer PS3's could not play it, so I steered clear for a long time. Now that my PS3's library has passed the 70 mark, it would be hard to upgrade and leave all those behind. I do believe though that with all the online integration, trophies, PS+, and backlash from the PS3 not having it (emulation was not possible either), I cannot see them ignoring it without a good reason other than profit.

I did read on IGN that the new controller is not a dualshock. Don't flip yet though if you love your dualshock though. Rumor is that it is still the same size as a dualshock, but with a touchpad where the select, start and PS buttons are, helping to integrate social media and things like that. Rumor is the system will record the past 15 minutes for video sharing, which can be pretty cool and cheap since you wouldn't have to be recording gear. I can see this kinda backfiring on Sony though. Remember what happened the last time they tried their own controller (*cough*boomerang*cough*). That thing failed and the SixAxis was put in it's place, only to fall flat..ish due to light weight and no rumble, thus bringing back the dualshock we come to know and love. I am sure it will have better PS Vita integration too, for those of you that have one like me.

So this is my little rant. Am I excited for the PS4? Yes, I am. But Sony has to do it right. No huge price tag. No "ship 200,000 units" only. No network outages. No screwing people over. If Sony really wants to take back full control of the Console Wars, it's now or never. Win, or go home with heads hanging low and pockets empty, knowing you let down your fans.

GTA San Andreas on PSN

So GTA San Andreas is finally released on PSN. Good? Yea, but also sneaky. Why? Because the price was originally announced at $10 to go with most if not all other PS2 Classics, but now is $15. Yea, it's only a whole $5 but thats not the point. It is not a HD remake, no trophies, no extra anything. Just plain old San Andreas. It may be one of the better if not the best GTA's because of it's size and everything that can be done, but it's still an 8 year old game that with it being $15 is only $5 less than GTA IV. I can just wait to play GTA V this spring and save my $15 for that.

Do you think the price is reasonable?
