Thank you so much to everyone who participated. i've loved seeing every single piece of art and fanfiction made for the event. It's been so amazing seeing so many people care enough about bats to make something in support of these wonderful creatures.
Over the next couple of days i will be going through everything to double check that everything was reblogged to the event.
If something of yours has not been reblogged yet, please send a dm to @qwerty-queer so that i can make sure it gets shared with everybody.
Art requests are also now CLOSED. Thank you to everyone who sent in an ask! i'm still working my way through them, and it may take awhile to finish them all. If you don't see yours posted right away, don't panic. i need a bit more time, as i will be taking today off from making any art, just so that i don't completely burn myself out after all this. Thank you for your patience. When all the art requests are finished, i will post a screenshot for the collected amount of donations that i promised to the Merlin Tuttle Bat Conservation.
Super shout out to @glitchstrikr for helping me organize and run the event. Their advice and support has been instrumental to getting all of this working.
Thank you so much to all of you, whether you donated, made fanart, wrote fanfiction, sent art requests, or just liked or reblogged things. It genuinely means so much to me. <3
And as always, if you're able to, please consider donating to a bat conservation group! i'm including a couple of other groups that i saw some people linking, so check those out as well!

It's the final day of the @vsmp-bat-conservation-event...
So no fun fact today, it's more of a lesson. This is something anyone can do even if you can't donate, making your land bat friendly! You can do this by building bat houses, gardens, lowering light levels, and providing water.
So for the final day I provided a design for a bat house based on Vampires SMP (layout)!
Of course be careful of what shade of colors you use as you will need lighter shades in hotter climates and darker shades in colder climates. So make sure to do the proper research for your area.
And do not use paint on the internal panels, use a stain instead as paint can fill in the groves.
Here are some further resources for bat houses and bat gardens. I really suggest checking them out!
As always, donation links under the cut, donate whatever amount if you can. Goodbye, everyone!

Quite easily... Day 6 of the @vsmp-bat-conservation-event!
Hey, could my final paper not take all day to do *cries*
I will provide a fun fact that matches tomorrow's prompt (because I have something special for tomorrow):
While the majority of bat species can purr, some can even sing! These songs are ultrasonic and can't be heard naturally by humans, except for the song of the greater sac-winged bat (Saccopteryx bilineata). It can be heard from over one hundred meters away.
If you are able, I highly suggest that you donate whatever amount that you can, every little bit helps.

I am totally not late today, I don't know what you mean...
I will provide a fun fact that matches today's prompt:
Bats are not blind! Their ability to see entirely depends on the species, some can even see better than humans. Some fruit-eating bats don't even use echolocation!
If you are able, I highly suggest that you donate whatever amount that you can, every little bit helps.

i have made a new au entirely because i really like the. five minutes where Doc is pretending to be a vampire and Avid is pretending to be human and they're working together and i wanted More Of That. Owen is also here. because it amuses me.

Thank you so much @cree-churr for making this graphic, it was a lovely surprise and is truly appreciated.
Firstly, i wanna say thank you to everyone who's expressed interest so far. It's exciting to see so many people willing to help out.
Secondly, i want to clarify a few things about how all this would work.
Essentially, this would be a week-long event where artists and writers participate by posting art or writing short stories relating to bats in Vsmp! Everyone who participates would need to include a donation link to a bat conservation group. i will be creating a sideblog for the event, and anybody that participates would need to either tag that blog or use a dedicated hashtag, so that i can find and reblog it.
At the moment, i am currently looking at April 12-18 for this event, since International Bat Appreciation Day is on the 17th of that week. i know that puts it over a month away, but hopefully that'll be enough time for people to get ready (i know i'm definitely gonna need time to prepare some of my own art ahahaa)
i considered setting up a charity fund, but i personally don't feel comfortable handling money in any way. That means all donations would have to be made directly to the conservation group(s). The downside to that would be that there won't be a specific monetary goal, and we wouldn't know how much got donated in the end.
HOWEVER. To incentivize participation, on the sideblog i will be taking art requests. For each request that is made, I WILL DONATE $5.00 (capped at $500). That means even if you're not an artist or writer, and donating is outside of your means, you still have the opportunity to be involved in a meaningful way!
Additionally i've seen several people wanting to help with organizing things. i don't know how successful this event will be, but i may need help running the blog, as i have a full-time job that prevents me from being as terminally online as i'd like to be. Mod duties would mostly involve reblogging things and ensuring that everything has a donation link. i really only need one other person i think. If you're interested in being a mod, please send me a dm. If you're somebody i'm already somewhat familiar with then you're much more likely to be selected.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to send me an ask or dm!
Reblogging and spreading the word is super helpful.
i'm gonna go ahead and tag everyone who's directly expressed excitement in the tags or comments or said they want to participate:
