Rhys being happy with the final mix
The Even More Final Mix
After we were happy with how the three projects were sounding together we recorded all the tracks from our final mix session into one track.
The project really came together here, we where very pleased with the results
Rhys and Luke Cracking on
Rhys' arm looks dead weird
The Final Mix
We bounced out the 3 sub projects Foley, Dialogue, and Background and put them together in a new project. It took a few bounces to get the levels right, but we got there. In the final mix session we used some automation to fix problems along the way. We also had some last minute jobs to do: • I added a synth, originally a Blue Man Group sounding tube hit, to the gunshots. Beefing them up abit. • Added in the intro sounds. • Added some ADR recordings here and there
CrunchTime pt.3
During the day we all took turns to work on the 2 pro tools Macs. Me and Rhys had been going back to back, taking it in turns to do one edit each. This ensured productivity regardless of attention span. As we listened back to the foley edit we realized that we needed a sound for bodies rolling. I managed to find an early recording me and Rhys had made, where we were handing the mic poorly. I actually used the part of the recording where you can hear the mic being shifted in my had, turned up a bit and it sounded like bodies shifting along the floor! *remember to always keep your old recordings!
CrunchTime pt.2
We’ve made a lot of progress individually. I can’t help being annoyed that I left my mic and usb hub at home.
Being unable to record new foley led us to re-using existing recordings on the tracks. To be honest everything is sounding good so far.
Rhys had been using Audio suite to process the clips. This saved space on the hard drive and ram, and also on the screen. If we had a track for each processed clip we'd all have RSI from scrolling!
*remember, if you think it might be useful, bring it!
CrunchTime!
With little time left we got together to see where we were all up to.
Luke had prepared a dialogue edit, Rhys had done foley editing since the foley session, and I was well on my way with the background track
After I was happy with the Background I checked with Rhys what was left to do with Foley. He had just begun to add reverb it, and it was sounding good!
When we listened to each other’s work we all quickly realized problems the others had missed. A fresh set of ears (or eyes) is always helpful!
*remember, reverb makes everything better
The Flat Set-up
We grabbed Rhys' Telly out of his room and managed to setup quite an efficient dual monitor set up
Foley Moley!!
Went into Uni today with Rhys and Luke to do a foley session. We double booked so we had an 8hr slot, leaving us 4 hours to be productive if it took us 4 hours to open the session again!
Jokes aside we had a great session. Splitting up the session into 3 distinct sound types, Impacts, Footsteps, and Specifics. Me and Rhys acted out a fight seen, taking a character each and performing the sounds we saw.
Foley Apparatus Included:
•My Adidas Trainers, to create leather noises. •Some piece of metal, to make swinging sounds of punches. •A Lettuce, which Luke bashed to make brilliant Punch impact sounds. •Pretty much every piece of clothing we had
Dernt Killim Rigbeh
Went into uni today with Luke today to have a look at the Files given to us from the director, Richard Halliwel We spent 3.30 minutes of a 4 hour session simply opening the project. Faff:Productivity ratio at an all time low.
Film Mix Module
Been given a 10 minute piece of film to do sound the sound for as part of my 2nd year assessment at Uni. I have two group mates Rhys Noble, and Luke Warren. Looking forward to working together, and interested to see how our skills and ideas well come together!
