Henry winter: a saviour figure

In relation to religion, henry winter would be a godlike or savior figure. When richard was dying during winter break at the warehouse he swore he saw henry, even though henry is supposed to be in italy. Later, in the epilogue, francis says he saw henry while in the the hospital after attempting. I believe camilla said something about seeing him aswell but i don’t remember for certain. Then, at the end of the book, richard saw him once again while on the cusp of death. Every character stated that they saw henry while teetering on the edge of afterlife, similarly to how many state they ‘saw god’ or ‘the light’ when they were faced with death, or how many say god ‘saved them’, like how henry saved richard from his imminent frozen death. This paints henry as a savior figure in its own twisted way. Even after death henry still has control over the group, appearing as the protector like many view their deities. Though the motivations are selfish, only rescuing those to in debt them so they are easier to control, like how under christianity, followers must strive to live a life without sin because jesus died for them, and how henry sacrificed himself by committing suicide to protect richard, camilla, and francis from charles and the police, though it was only an act of ego.

How does TravNat get boring “nothingburger” allegations when their one full sex scene happens immediately after Natalie fakes Javi’s death to force Travis to grieve, while she hides the bandage from the wound she used to smear blood on his brother’s pants to sell the lie, and Travis hallucinates his past abuser as a holy figure standing over them because sexuality and spirituality have fused in his mind after his assault, as he battles between two misguided but desperately clung-to forms of comfort embodied by his abuser and his girlfriend, faith and pragmatism, all while Jackie’s body (the girl Travis lost his virginity to and the girl Natalie quietly envied, resented, and admired for years) burns on a funeral pyre outside (which is implied to be slowed to a roast by some supernatural force because of Nat and Travis’ sexual act) before they cannibalize her together immediately afterward?

this may be a lukewarm take but i don't think travis wanted to know how many people nat had slept with bc he was sexist. was he sexist at times? yes. but i think more than anything he wanted to know if it was her first time, because it was gonna be his. knowing he didn't have to measure up to anyone else or to too many other guys would alleviate some of the pressure. he also wanted to know it meant as much to her as it did to him. did he go about the convo the wrong way? ofc he did. he's a teenage boy in the 90s. even a teenage boy right now would probably fuck that up. teenagers are notoriously dumb
