hello people of Tumblr! I have a small project I am starting!
(Tagging @dip-n-sippy because she said i could. YOU BETTA REBLOG THIS-/silly)
About a year ago, I made a Fake lost media story for the funny and because I can!!
Now, revisiting the story and seeing the message it had, I plan to remake it!
"House Of Children" was the story I made on the R/fakelostmedia subreddit a year ago, and if things work out, hopefully it'll become it's own series here on Tumblr!!
And for those who don't wanna go searching for the original story, here it is for you, plus a piece of concept art! (Remember, it was made a year ago, it's not the best)
Please, enjoy!
As a kid, I remember watching the normal kids shows for kids my age. "Bubble guppies", "Phineas and Ferb", "Odd Squad" , even a few animes like "Glitter Force". Normal right? Well, I watched those mainly when me and my mom finally got our own place, but before we had are own place, we lived with my grandparents.
Now, my grandparents had SO many VHS tapes, mainly of old Disney movies, (and some good stuff you can't find on Disney+, like the house of mouse) VeggieTales, and other old cartoons. I honestly loved watching these, because I felt so cool for use the "old school" method.
My mother and grandfather worked all day, so it was just me, my grandma, her three dogs, and the grumpy cat. Most of the time, me and my grandmother would bake, play card and dice games, or work in her garden. But when my grandmother needed to get something done, she let me hang out in my room and watch those cartoons on this old T.V.
I honestly would just watch VeggieTales or Popeye, maybe Felix the Cat if I felt like rewatching the one tape we had of it, but there was one random set of tapes of some general cartoon show.
It was about this group of siblings (I think there was around 7 of them?) living on this remote farm land by themselves, no parents or any adults, which as a kid I thought was cool (kid me just thought about all the ice cream I could eat when alone).
I remember that the oldest sibling was only being around 13, and the youngest being 3-2 years old. The show followed the content if a normal kids show. Episode starts, something happens, they fix the problem, lesson learned. Normal, right? Well there was some weird things about.
Like I said, no parents for most episodes, they only showed up for one episode (I'll talk about thar one later, just wait).
But there was also other weird things. For example, there are 7 kids, right? I remember a few of their names, like Gabriel, Stacy, Megan, Christian, and that 3-2 is year old being Micah. Surprisingly, the oldest (the 13 year old) never got a name, only ever being called "Big sister", and the last kid was barely a focus in episodes that I never learned his name.
Another thing I noticed is that they absolutely REFUSED to speak about their parents. Like, I remember a one off comment where Micah was asking Megan and Christian about their parents, and they quickly shushed him, telling him "we're not allowed to talk about them, big sister said so" which I found weird.
Now, that episode I mentioned, the only one where the parents show up? Yeah, that was the second to last episode actually, it introduced a new character, a 8th sibling, and the only reason I remember her name is because it was literally the name of the episode, "Plain Baby Jane".
The episode starts normally, the kids are doing some chores, and playing when a car pulls up. It was a good car, for animation standard. The parents stepped out, in like the shiny clothes shows draw characters in to show there "rich rich".
Their faces were never shown, and I don't think they ever spoke, but the 13 year old talked to the parents while all the other children were holding a baby, who they were told who was their new sibling, Jane.
The youngest, Micah, immediately doesn't like the baby, calling her a "Plane Jane" (hence the episode title, clever production studio people). They spend the whole episode trying to find ways to get rid of the baby, so they all talk about ways that the baby could leave.
The whole time, you could actually see "Big Sis" arguing with the parents in the background, the whole thing animated (which I always found so cool to this day, props to the animators!)
The episode ended with the kids about to leave Jane in the woods near their house, but is stopped by "big sis" before they do, the parents driving away quickly.
I'm unsure why the parents weren't there or not watching any of their kids. I always felt weird after watching this episode. But it was the very last episode, it always scared me as a kid, and it's where I think I got my fear of abandonment.
The cartoon only had eight episodes, then like every other typical creepy cartoon, it got canceled. The last episode title was just the name of the show, "House of Children".
This episode starts like any other, the kids are doing their normal, chores, playing, whatnot.
The problem this episode was that Megan got lost in the woods. Everyone is freaking out and wanting to look for her, but "Big Sis" tells them no, that going into woods, or they'd all get lost.
The whole thing is getting to an all time high until Micha suggests to call the cops. Every older sibling just looks so uncomfortable at the suggestion, and tell him no. (Now that I'm older, i think it's because they were literal children living all alone)
Because everyone wanted to go into the woods, "Big sis" locks all the doors to keep the kids inside. The episode after just felt so unnerving because everyone just seems so anxious and upset. One of them even started pulling out their hair in worry.
The episode gets to this boiling point when "Big Sis" finally does unlock the doors. The children all run out to the woods, leaving "Big Sis", Micah (who was scared, so he stayed), and baby Jane from last episode.
"Big Sis" sighs, and brings Micah inside, finally calling the police. Micah is asking why she's not looking for all their siblings, and she just states "I don't honestly care all that much".
And with that, the episode ended, and every time I watched this episode, i would start crying and running to my mom or grandma, yelling "please care about me!" Like some dumb kid. (I was a dumb kid)
Sadly, I haven't watched this show in years due to my grandparents moving to Texas and selling all of their VHS tapes, but yeah..Still creeps me out to this day...
hello Fliqpy, did your nap go well? Must've, Your being so obedient/ref
(Mod here, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE THIS REF LOL)
(He doesn't say anything -- not really, anyhow. In fact,it almost looks as if he's spaced out entirely.)
(After a minute or so,he just silently leans over and presses his face into citrus 's hands, letting out a low purr from his chest. How..strange and out of character.🤨)
hello everyone! Citrus here! Surprised this isn't a myth post? Me too
I would've made a post sooner, but I was on Florida on Father's day, so this is a bit late!
However, tumblr has shown itself to be such a caring platform for me, so I feel safe sharing this about me.
I grew up without my father. Not because he was dead, or because he couldn't be around me, or not even because he had a new family, that would've been easier to understand.
But my father divorced my mother due to their own problems, then stopped seeing me once I was five, because I was born a female.
I am now almost 18, and it still hurts to this day.
But the craziest thing?
Now because he has sons, his youngest daughter gets all the love she could ask for.
And while I am jealous he loves her, I'm honestly so happy he learned to love a daughter after abandoning me and my older half sister.
So, father, this song is for you
And happy father's day everyone
Yes, this art is mine. I made it a younger me and current me lol. I think she'd be happy to know what I know
before you throw tomatoes at me.... blame @dip-n-sippy for this, it's their fault
Growing up with a crimal split personality father wasn't too hard, but it still did something to ya.
Griz, Panda, and Ice bears weren't treated as criminals for being around their father, of course not, but it would change once they were adult.
So Their mother and father did the hardest thing, and let them go. Once they left home. They left themselves, to keep their kids safe from prosecution.
Panda did the best out of them, easily taking the world by storm with fashion and content and trends. In toontown he thrived. He lived the life his mother dreamed, being a mama's boy, after all.
Griz did... alright? He did odd job and spontaneous things for the thrill of it. It was how he was, he always had the most energy.
But for years, the two brothers didn't hear from their triplet, Ice Bear.
Until one day, a worker from the Department of Justice came by.
Apparently, their brother was too much like their father, immediately joining the military. Even if there was no war, They were always dealing with something. Searchers, Collectors, any threat that the stars saw as beneath them.
Ice Bear was always quiet, but the silence he had once he came home to his brothers was worse than anything. It took Panda and Griz moving in with him and helping him with life for him to pick back up his small bit of talking.
Griz was understanding. He always prided himself on being the big brother, on being the one to help... but all Panda could really see was this version of their father whenever he came home from work....
