Monthly Gem Challenge: Benitoite
Just like last month, we’re giving you an unusual gem and challenging you to design a gemsona based on it! You can go as in-depth with your character designs as you’d like: come up with their personality and backstory, or just show what you think they’d look like. They can even be a fusion if you prefer; the choice is up to you!
This month’s gem is Benitoite. If you already have a Benitoite gemsona, you can still drop them in the MGC tag, this month is for all Benitoite, old or new!
Gem Meaning: (Note: You can use the gem’s meaning to help you come up with ideas for your gemsona, but it’s not a requirement). Benitoite is a gem that’s said to encourage happiness and joy.
Cool Facts: Benitoite is an extremely rare gemstone, and it’s also the state gem of California. When it was first discovered, Benitoite was mistaken for a variety of sapphire. It’s a barium titanium silicate mineral that’s typically blue in color (though it can range in color from blue to nearly colorless, as shown below). Evidently, it has a brilliance rating comparable to that of a diamond’s!
