This topic seems relevant to my GARP as the way we perceive words and the meanings behind them is very important to communication and will have to be considered in more detail as digital assistants inevitably become more advanced and conversational.Â
Have not been able to find much in the way of gendered marketing for the Bixby assistant. However, I have found that the hashtags were inside the actual bixby settings menu and not included in any marketing, it also seems from this photo that the female option is pink/ red and the male voice is blue which obviously links in to typical gender stereotypes regarding colour.
Get more things done with your personal voice assistant. Bixby learns and remembers what you need to do. Push the Bixby button and step into the future.
Official marketing page for Bixby assistant, default colour to match the default male voice seems to be blue however there is no mention of the assistant being gendered at all in the current marketing strategy.Â
