King and Lionheart - Ave/Garry
Grabbing her bag and rushing out of her dorm, Avery barely even had time to tick of a checklist in her head to make sure she had everything she needed. She would never want to make Garret wait, though it was something that happened more than she cared to admit, thanks to her bad time management skills and her poor planning. She took off down the hallway, half running and half jogging, pushing straight through a wall and into the small courtyard outside of the student dorms. The rain was beating down, so Avery pulled her jacket up and over her head. The denim was almost immediately soaked and stuck to her arms, but she kept moving towards the other side of the courtyard where there was a small shelter.
Once she was beneath the small sloping roof, she shook her hair out and saw it was already soaking. With a small grunt and a roll of her eyes, she stepped back out into the rain and marched towards the residents area. Water splashed from beneath the steps of her boots, kicking water up both the front and back of her jeans, which were now dripping and stuck to her. A shiver ran down Ave’s spine and the girl grabbed both sides of her jacket and pulled it closer to her. Muttering to herself, she remarked that ‘we might as well not even go to the pool, I’m already dripping.’ She continued to make her way across the institute’s grounds until she found herself inside the building in which Garret lived. She searched the halls for his room and when she found it (Room 32) she stopped, and wrung out the parts of her shirt she could reach. After a few flickering attempts, Avery managed to flash into invisibility and as she knocked on Garret’s door, she grinned.
Garret’s eyes flicked from his video game to the phone he held in his lap. “Come on, come on, come on, come on..” He mumbled under his breath as the controller started to feel the rapid taps of his thumb on the square button. “no, no, no, n- Shit!” He threw the controller on his bed and flicked his whole body backwards as the screen showed his score on the new Crash Bandicoot game. His sigh emanated through the now quiet room and he brought his phone up to face. Clicking the home button the screen lit up to show the time. “Nearly four.” He mumbled to himself and raised his body up with his elbows. Rolling off the side of his bed, Garry ran his fingers through his hair and made his way slowly over to his draws. Humming to himself, he opened the draws and fumbled around before managing to find the board shorts he had hidden. Despite the rain he knew it was gonna be a good day; Avery was gonna be there and that was all he needed. Hearing a knock at the door, he chucked his stuff into a bag and opened the door pulling Avery into a wet hug. His face scrunched up as he let her go and looked down at his shirt.
His eyes fell on how soaked she was and he shook his head. “I get your little fashion pact you’ve made with yourself but it’s pouring down out there, Ave..” He chuckled. “Take it off and I’ll get you a more.. Waterproof jacket.” His eyes rolled as he went to his cupboard and fished around for a bit. “Do you wanna get warm by the heater before we go so you don’t die or are you fine?” He raised an eyebrow as he chucked the jacket at her tiny body. Shoving his shoes on his feet, he looked around and grabbed his keys. His eyes met hers and he pulled a face as he headed over to the bed. “Ready when you are,” he chimed as he pushed the phone into his back pocket and looked over at her. His eyes looked her over and a small smile appeared on his face. His jacket was twice the size of her and although he had seen this sight before, it never got old.
