This Woman’s Tale Begins With:

Charlise Reid grew up in a household that was in a constant state of happiness. She had what everyone considered to be the perfect parents, the perfect sister and the perfect dog. They also had a cat and two bunnies between them. The only thing Charlise could see which didn’t fit this perfect portrait was her powers. At first, Charlise thought she could hide what she could do from her parents. She was so excited about the gift she has been given, though she didn’t know how or why she had come to acquire them. Charlise really loved that she had been given the chance to live a life different from what she had ever imagined, but when rumours began to spread the people with special abilities were being locked up, she figured that keeping it quiet was the only way she was going to remain outside of prison, but it didn’t work. The woman was found out by her mother and father who, against all of pleading, called the authorities. They yelled about how they had never felt so betrayed and how they could’ve lived 1000 years without knowing about her “disgusting” powers. She took in every hurtful word that the people she trusted most thrust in her direction and was put into a facility where they kept mutants. It was supposed to be specifically designed to withstand the powers of the people it was meant to keep in, but Charlise broke free. She was determined to find a safe place because as of that moment in her life, the woman was a fugitive. On the run and in constant fear, she happened to stumble upon Leviathan. It’s her sanctuary as much as it is the students and she has no plans to leave. Finding Leviathan only happened a few months after Charlise began running, and for this she is thankful. Years of her life could have been spent running and hiding if she had missed it. She was met with nothing but love from the staff, especially Celeste Owens. An understanding that she will be kept safe was made, but out of the goodness of her own heart and her willingness to make a difference, Charlise offered to help out around the school as much as she can.

Charlise has the power of self-detonation and reformation. She enjoys putting on a show for some of the newer kids and, despite her excellent control of her powers which leads her able to be detonated for as long as she needs, she still happens to explode when her emotions are heightened (like when she gets mad). She always quickly reforms afterwards and continues as if nothing has happened. The first time she ever managed to detonate, it frightened her as nothing else ever had, living her generally sheltered life. She had no clue what was happening as her body formed and she didn’t know how it happened or if she would ever be able to control it, though it wasn’t exactly at the forefront of her mind. Her other power, a newer one she has adapted since being in Leviathan is plant manipulation. She was a little confused at first because the three powers didn’t go together, but she figured that it didn’t matter and she had no choice on the matter. As she developed it, she started to spend more time outside teaching her pupils about plants and herbology. Using her powers was just a fun bonus she had. She enjoys being able to be in a sanctuary such as Leviathan and explore her powers without regret or terror filling every inch of her body. Being around the students and being around the teachers has helped Charlise to open up and accept herself as well as the people around her. She is still amazed everyday by what she sees and she knows that she can trust the people around her to keep her safe.

Charlise has had her fair share of self-loathing and doubting, especially after everything that she went through with her parents, but she has grown from the experiences with her family and her past has made her strong. Her relationship with her sister seems to her to be non-existent (similar to the relationship she has with both of the people who brought her into this world), but she does often wonder about her. There could be something there worth salvaging, as she isn’t even aware if her parents will have been honest with her, or if she even cares about the powers Charlise has been given. She has some powers which are rather unique and she enjoys teaching people all about what it’s like to have them and how to use their own powers. Sure, she was stuck with teaching English (which she never even found herself exceptionally good at) and being an inside and outside teacher when it came to nature ethics, but she enjoys it and she likes doing what she can to keep Leviathan running. Seeing the faces of students when a flower ‘accidentally’ sprouts up and whacks them in the face if they annoy her is her favourite thing to do. The woman just enjoys it here, she’s told the people who need to know about her past and has been promised a place that can keep her safe. This is her home now and if anything happens to it, she’s willing to defend it and the people around her. To make this closer to a reality if anything should happen, Charlise has taken up practicing on her own to get her powers in tip top shape and completely under her control. She is over hiding who she is, mutant and proud.

{Jenna Wilkins is a Seventeen year old student. Her powers include Elasticity. She looks like Zendaya Coleman and is Available}.

This Woman’s Tale Begins With:

Jenna had a normal life at first. There was nothing special about her or her family. Her parents divorced when she was nine, she grew up with her Mum and stayed with her Dad in the holidays, and neither one of her parent's was very well off. Jenna has no siblings, and being an only child should mean you’re spoiled to death. She was spoiled with attention and love, but her material needs were very small and this kept her very grounded - she is someone who isn’t tempted by material things and very conscious of what she needs in terms of being mentally and spiritually healthy. She struggled a bit through school, not being naturally smart, but applying herself where she felt she could. She was good at gym and drama, and was confident enough without being arrogant. When she was 11, her Mum signed her up with an agent, and this took a financial toll on the family that they both prayed would even out. Jenna was in a few ads here and there which really helped to keep her and her Mum above water financially, once the debt to the agent had been covered. Slowly, she got bigger roles, being extras in tv shows, movies - until she was 14 and her overwhelming acting talent was discovered. She was signed and became the lead of a TV show. Now at 17 Jenna Wilkins is famous - she's been in movies upon movies, continued her own TV show and made a lot of money. She’s enjoyed the spotlight and tries not to think to hard about it or let it get to her - her natural ability to keep her head out of the clouds has really helped her in becoming famous.. She started with nothing and everything she has achieved, she did with her will power and need to have something in her life, as well as with the support of her mother..

There was something, however, that no one realised until Jenna became famous. She was a mutant. During filming, Jenna's arm went flying and it was then and only then that her elasticity powers were revealed - not even she knew about them. Anyone present was paid to keep their mouths shut by someone unknown to Jenna (she has much time to speculate on this now) and Jenna herself was immediately moved to Leviathan. No one outside of the institute has any idea where she is, and those inside have been sworn to secrecy - but obviously at the hands of a mutant who has made it literally impossible to tell anyone. Jenna is safe here, and she knows that, but she equally knows that there is a lot of controversy around her which could mean she will never appear in another movie. Normal humans have not adjusted to the fact that some people are different, which means it is likely Jenna has already retired. Luckily, she has made enough money to last a few comfortable life times, so while it does leave her sad that she can’t continue her passion, she doesn’t have to worry about survival. It hurts her to know that she can’t go out and do normal things anymore. She has had to change her non-physical appearance to be accepted in the school let alone outside of the school. She used to read the articles about her whereabouts but she knows that she can’t let it all get to her head, even though the fact that she can’t leave the institute leaves time for many thoughts to eat away at her. She’s been trying for years not to let stuff get to her and now is not at all different.

For someone as big as Jenna is, with as many fans as she has, she is surprisingly down-to-earth. One thing she doesn't like, however, is people constantly fawning over her when all she wants is people to treat her normally. For this reason, there are many people she can’t get along with. People like Pixie Dallas who are nice at first but are really thinking about personal gain in terms of friendships really get under Jenna’s skin.  She likes people who are calm and realistic, people who she can hold a normal conversation with and bond over similar interests. Jenna is only a resident at Falkland so she doesn't teach, and she doesn't attend classes, but she is around campus a lot as she can't go outside. She likes making friends with the surprisingly few people she gets along with and is always up for helping someone out. All in all, Jenna is sweet, but confident in herself, and she likes to socialize, though it an sometimes be hard to socialize as a peer rather than as a celebrity. All she really wants at this point is a chance to contact her parents and tell them that she is okay. She is a little worried about having to act without her publicist telling her what to do and can be unsure of actions, spending hours rehearsing what she will say or do later in the day, though she also tries to see this as a chance to let loose. While still settling in, Jenna has no idea about the turmoil between mutants.

{Pixie Dallas is a Seventeen year old student. Her powers include the Manipulation Of Air, Fire, Water and Earth. She looks like Maia Mitchell and is Available}.

This Woman’s Tale Begins With:

Pixie Dallas was 10 when her mother ran away to find her ‘purpose’ in life. Sadly for Pixie, she took Pixie with her. Being an only child, it was easy for Pixie when it came to adapting in awkward situations. throughout all the boyfriends her mother had, Pixie had always kept tabs with her father. When her mother ran away and took Pixie, it was without her father knowing. She said she would be back in 10 days. Seven years later and Pixie had had it with her mother; her mother was not the most reliable person in the world. As Pixie grew older she started to realise that she could just leave or get her father to pick her up and despite trying to help her mum, Pixie was over it. Returning to a normal life was going to be hard for Pixie, but being with her father was not. They spent many days in the sun and running around travelling, going to elite schools for the ‘free food’ and playing around trying to regain the time they had lost. Growing up was easier with him and Pixie knew that her mother was fine as the texts, calls and letters kept flowing between the two. As Pixie grew up in Orlando, she knew that she was safe and adapting into the normalness of her new life well. Being a photographer’s daughter was a great time for her as she was his model and muse. What happened at one photoshoot would scar her forever, but she knew what was happening,

Being surrounded by nature was something that Pixie had always loved. To feel the elements like they were in her hands was a magical feeling and at first she told no one, but her father figured it out. Pixie had found out she was a mutant when the wind changed, when the lightening flickered and when her mother came in full force on a photoshoot that her father had organised. As her powers shone through, Pixie’s mother continued to yell and soon it was blasting lightening through the sky. As a bolt hit her mother, who had upset her and her father, Pixie knew it had been her. She was scared as she waited for the doctors to say her mother was okay. As she spoke with her father, the girl learnt that her father had powers too; his was to do with water manipulation and plant manipulation. Knowing this, Pixie didn’t feel alone and she didn’t mind when he handed her the Leviathan Institute contact card she’d need to call for a viewing of the school. As her mother healed, Pixie was shown through her new school and settled in quite nicely. It wasn’t until her father left that her powers started to play up again. Pixie knew it was a long road to recovering the control of her young oblivious self, but she knew it needed to happen so that she would be ‘safe’ around the people she loved. She kept in touch with everyone as her new adventure begun.

After her mother came better, Pixie made her final move to Leviathan with her father’s help. It would be weird not having people she knew surrounding her but the girl would soon manage very well. The happy-go-lucky Pixie Dallas fit into her knew learning pattern well. She was always good at adapting, but learning about other’s powers excited her as much as learning about her own had. Pixie had high ambitions of being a professor or something to do with a school as soon as she stepped foot on the school’s soil. Being able to help herself and learn about her powers was one thing - but to help others would be beyond her wildest dreams. The atmosphere was always so supportive in the school and it’s something that’s helped Pixie thrive since she’s arrived at Leviathan. Having a dorm mate and being around kids who can do the same and slightly different stuff she can do shocked her. This whole school is new to her, learning, watching and knowing became important to the flower child who cared little about what others thought of her. That attitude alone has helped her fit in at Leviathan and having element controlling powers makes her a hit with the younger kids. With her good looks and incredible powers have made her very popular among fellow students at the school, and this is beginning to go to her head. Parts of her mother’s personality are beginning to shine through in the way Pixie treats other people. She only hangs around with people she deems cool enough, and their powers must be able to benefit her in some way or be incredibly powerful. She doesn’t intend to act this way, but her natural prejudices towards wanting solid ground beneath her feet means she is concerned about her reputation and how the people she associates with reflects on her to the rest of the world. She can be cruel without meaning to and can make you feel as if you are less even when she isn’t trying to. She wishes she could be sure what side she’d be on if this whole mutant thing comes out being a big conflict, but she isn’t. Leviathan has given her refuge and helped her to build social status, but her need to be on top probably means she’ll fuss around and pick whoever looks like they’re winning.

{Heath Bartley is a Nineteen year old student. His powers include the ability to Manipulate His Own Size. He looks like Dave Franco and is Available}

This Man’s Tale Begins With:

Heath Bartley is the youngest of a set of all-boy triplets. Growing up, Heath was known for being the runt of the litter and not getting a long too well with his brothers. At first, everyone suspected jealousy and for Heath there was a little. His two older brothers would bully him and were by far superior in ways that Heath could never be. Their elite status on the football team as well as with their school friends and peers got to Heath and he knew that he couldn’t compete against them - so he never tried. Rather than being a kid who went and hung out with his friends, he became someone who studied harder than most in his classes; his academic agenda became the only one he had. If he couldn’t get to his brothers in ways that people would recognize as their own he would become the academic of the family. With the hard work that Heath put in he became a star pupil and started to enjoy his success in a field that his brothers could not get through. Heath became the brain of the three and he enjoyed rubbing it in. The three seemed petty when he looked back on it, but he couldn’t waste an more time on them. As he grew up, the three drifted apart and they only talked momentarily if they bumped into each other on the street. As Heath’s powers developed, he realised that he had been one of two triplets to get the gene. His oldest triplet brother decided not to pursue a career or powers and become a drug addict by the time of 18. His other brother a sports star with no powers and was jealous of Heath and his brother. 

As Heath found out about his powers, he decided to take the opportunity to enroll at Leviathan. Having a school who had ‘abnormal’ people such as himself and learning was somewhere that Heath’s heart yearned for. Being one of two triplets with powers, he had sort of hoped that he and his brother would take the opportunity and the step together - this did not happen. Heath separated himself from both brothers so that he could focus on himself. He was beyond upset to find out what had happened to his oldest brother, but he decided that this was his own doing. Heath didn’t speak of his brothers anymore. Growing up, Heath thought that his powers were just growth spurts; little did he know that he could control his growth and make himself certain sizes whether he was growing or not. Coming to Leviathan he has started to delve more into the power that he does not fully understand. Manipulating his size seemed a little lame to him at first but now he loves it. Being a kid who was always smaller and pushed around, he loves to stand up for the underdogs. If he sees someone being bullied his body changes faster than he can reach the bullies. Heath found out his power as he stood up to one of his brothers. Growing in height and mass size was a huge thing for him and it still kind of freaked him out. Heath needs to learn how to control himself and his power.

Because of his past, Heath does not get along with people who think they're better than everyone else. He has adapted to his surroundings rather well and knows who is to be made friends with and who he should stay away from. Making a group of friends was easier for Heath at a school of misfits. He met Garret and Avery before anyone else and quickly fell into a group that got him in trouble and kept him safe through whatever happened. As they enjoyed being in school as well as causing trouble, Heath adapted the crafty side he never knew he had. Recently, Heath has been able to become a fast thinker and rather than just being academic, he finds it easy to cause trouble for others. Having shrinking ability has made his tricks on people a lot easier. Of course he gets a long with most people but having Avery, Garry, Connor, Hale, Ellery and Laney has made his life a whole lot more fun. He is easily fooled and enjoys being pranked by his friends; he also enjoys how they don’t take crap from anyone and help the little one. As a bunch of misfits and people who don’t fit in, Heath has embraced this and has been helped by his new friends to stand out. Heath would never have thought that being at a school for Mutants and having friends was in his future - yet here he was; still doing well in school and having the life he had dreamed of. He keeps in contact with his parents, but he can’t talk to his brothers without getting upset. His new friends are the family he chose and he’s happy with this decision.

{Colton Quinn is a Thirty Two year old Professor. His powers include many kinds of Enhanced Fighting and Weaponry Skills, Physical Duplication and Precognitive Danger Warning. He looks like Jensen Ackles and is Unavailable}.

This Man’s Tale Begins With:

Colton Quinn grew up with his mother in the Falkland Institute. He never really enjoyed it here and he especially hated the way his mother treated him. Everything that had happened to him in his life was because of his mother and he knew he could never outgrow or run away from the problems she caused; especially when she ran away enough for the both of them. He had come from a house where his father was murdered (by his mother) into what he thought seemed like an insane asylum, but he soon realised he too had powers and started to see things differently. Colton knew the truth about his father and his mother and he knew that it was a mutant related issue that got in between the two. Colton watched his mother kill his father and the two ran to the Leviathan Institute for shielding. Being around adults and grown up content his whole life, Colton changed rapidly and adapted to the new situations presented to him; with this, Colton grew up a little too fast for his own good and once he hit 18, the kid was out of there and joined the military. He rose in the ranks a little too fast for people to believe and they started to realise something crazy was happening with the kid. His powers developed and the kid left the military at the age of 25. He hated what happened to him next, but he moved back to the Institute and began to try and fit back in. Being around his mother and people again, he's not used to it, but he's also not the military man who is stuck in the past. He acts normal and talks about none of his past.

Colton's powers have helped him a little too much in his life. They developed just before he reached the army base and was soon taken to a scientist to be tested on - against his own will. The forced interaction and giving of blood, etc. screwed with him but other than that he seemed to keep developing in ways they couldn’t understand. Once they found out about his mutant powers, he was stuck there for longer than he wanted and the harassment he endured seemed to be redundant to him after a while. He ended up becoming the seamless robot that they wanted him to become. It hurt him a lot, but he was able to adapt with ease and switch off his emotions long enough to kill a few hundred people. It took him a while to find his way back from that dark place. He was aware of his powers then and using them to leave didn’t have much of an effect on him. He merely called it survival. The kid doesn't talk about it, but he knows how to use his powers. His powers include physical duplication, enhanced fighting and weaponry skills as well as precognitive danger warning. He never used to have precognitive danger warning but it grew on him when he was very wary and alert after the military. Colton helps people like him to experiment with and train their powers. Being a fighting machine, Colton tries to keep it down a notch and not show off just how good at using his powers he truly is. Colton goes out on missions all the time for the school and secretly enjoys taking students he know can handle the pressure, with him. He seems to be a crowd favourite with the outcasts and a few others around the school, but other than that - he has no enjoyment for his job.

With his winning charm and personality, Colton is a rather judgmental person. He understands from the accident with his father's death, that people can change faster than he can change his clothes and he's not up for it. He’s become a very wary person; meaning that his new powers are coming into his life a lot more than he thought they would. It makes him a perfect candidate for the team of Hunter Warren, Max Gorth and anyone else who decides to come on the rescue missions. Colton sometimes shuts himself off or away from people; but when he's around people he's sarcastic, witty and usually flirtatious. Colton has high standards for his woman, but he enjoys a little fling here and there; whether it be a student or a teacher. Colton's easily a lot different from most of the other teachers around.He treats the students like they're people and knows how to bring their powers out of them. He gets in trouble a lot because whether it be winding them up for them to be their best or calling them out - he gets results and the other professors find his methods a little insulting. Colton comes across as an asshole, but people don’t know the really him and only the few who do, know why he is the way he is. He's not really a teaching kind of guy because he didn't want to take after his mother; but now he's here and teaching. It's weird for him but he doesn't really care either way. The only thing he truly cares about is his mother and keeping people away from her. It stresses him out that after everything that has happened with Gwenyth (he never calls her mum but mother slips out when he’s being sarcastic) she’s still allowed to teach at somewhere that’s meant to be a safe place for kids who were just like him.

{Jennifer Birch is a Twenty Seven year old resident. Her powers include Healing Blood. She looks like Tatiana Maslany and is Unavailable}.

This Woman’s Tale Begins With:

Jennifer was born to a navy seal and his new wife. Her dad was a hard worker while he was at work but he never brought his problems home - once he was at home it was family time. Her mom was laid back and had become accustomed to how much moving her family would be doing with her husbands job. In any town they lived in she would pick up a small job to bring in extra money but nothing that she would have to make a lengthy commitment too. They had a healthy relationship even though they hadn’t been together for more than a few years and it was clear they were meant for each other. The addition of their first child to turn their couple into a family was exactly what they needed to take everything to the next level. As a baby, Jennifer was quiet and calm and rarely cried. She was always cooing and giggling, playing with toys and as she grew older remained stable and fit in easily wherever she lived. When she was nine, her brother Christopher was born and they were closer than any friends either had while growing up. The years around his birth were the most stable in Jennifer’s life in terms of living situation as they stayed in the same house for around five years. In this time Jenn was hitting puberty and was at her most vulnerable, when she was really moving into being a young adult and her personality could be easily manipulated. The fact that they stayed for so long was good for her in feeling supported and she made a lot of friends that she became very close to. In these years Jenn picked up cheer leading as something appreciated in many high schools and something she could use to make friends when they moved again. She had a knack for it and became very close with the other girls on her team, though he was never intent on following it up as something she was passionate in. When it was time for them to leave and move to another navy seal owned home there was many tears but Jenn moved with her family and didn’t kick up a fuss. Chris, on the other hand, had developed a rebellious streak even as a young child and Jennifer and the rest of her family had noticed. Chris felt especially betrayed by how willing Jenn was to leave because they were so close but as soon as they left and he realised it was the reality of the situation, they were back to being as close as ever. When Jennifer turned 18 her father decided he was going to retire from the navy and take up a more peaceful job at home so they could settle down somewhere and live as an average family. He opened up to his family about his career in the special forces of the navy seals and Jenn realised why they had moved so much. It wasn’t just to be closer to work; it was to protect the family from anyone who could possible be seeking revenge - and little did they know, people were.

Things were calm for years and Jenn began to assume that her father’s stories were over-exaggerated  to make her see the situation as a serious one. When Jenn was twenty two she moved out, returning home each holiday and many days in between to see her family with whom she had always been very close. Her father’s birthday in her twenty third year was eventful to say the least, and one she would never forget. Her immediate family was there, along with her father’s parents and her uncle. At dinner, two men broke into the house and shot wildly throughout the dining room, hitting everyone besides Jenn’s grandmother who escaped into the kitchen. Jenn, her body wildly scraped by bullets but not directly hit, moved as quickly around the room as she could. She moved first to her brother who was closest to her, holding his head in her hands and blood from her forehead dribbling into his mouth. When she got no response from him she moved to her other family members as her grandmother called for an ambulance. She went to the hospital with them and her brother was admitted with no visible sign of injury except for emotionally. Her mother, father and grandfather died that night, while her uncle made a slow and painful recovery. While in the hospital a young paramedic intern passed her a note with only a phone number on it an she tucked it into her pocket and forgot about it. Once everything was calmed down and Jenn had paid her respects to all of her family members she found it again and as curiosity took her over, she called. Leviathan Institute picked up and Jenn realized the person in the hospital had recognized her as a mutant. The girl had identified her as a mutant with healing blood and the reason that her brother was still alive.

Jenn, after a discussion with Chris, moved to Leviathan institute full time. She chose not to go to school, even though her academia has always been incredibly important to her, especially on the science side of things. She’d already been through high school and a huge chunk of university, and her power wasn’t one she needed to learn how to control, just one she needed to discover the extent of it’s usage. This has made her want to research more into the mutant gene and why it effects the people it effects and how ti works. She isn’t a very good fighter yet, but she is trying to get her combat skills up. Her quick reflexes and athletic ability was built up in cheer leading and she is using it to her advantage. Jenn is often sent with mutants on rescue missions when needed as she can help to keep team members alive. She performs check ups on them once she gets back and fixes them up accordingly, though she often only uses her blood when it comes to the last resort as she doesn’t yet know enough about it to trust it. Her blood comes out when it’s life or death or something that needs to happen quickly, but if  med team can be used, she’d rather use the tried and true methods of healing. As for the war, she is yet undecided but she isn’t even considering choosing yet. Her biggest concern is the safety of everyone involved but she knows her past will heavily influence her decision once it comes down to it.

{Lincoln James is a Thirty One year old Professor. His powers include Speaking With and Summoning The Dead. He looks like Gabriel Macht and is Unavailable}.

This Man’s Tale Begins With:

Surrounded by mutants and their powers from a very young age, Lincoln James knew that he would one day be a mutant with ‘extravagant’ powers. Lincoln grew up in a town near Leviathan Institute and knew all the things he possibly could about how to look after yourself and the war that raged on between humans and ‘his kind’. He had no time for humans and people who had small minds. Being brought up in the hostile environment of a mutant orphanage, Lincoln knew of the darkness that scared humans could inflict on mutants. He had once had human parents and that was enough for him to know that he was probably going to be alone for his life. finding other people like him at the age of 5 made him feel safer and soon he was one of the mutants. His mother left him at the orphanage when his powers came through and from there on out, Lincoln made sure he tried to find out the details of why he was left as well the people who did this to him. Being five, his investigations didn’t get very far, but as he got older, he became aware that the lady who left was in fact someone who had been close to him in his life and not just a figment of his imagination. The powers came full force every time he remembered something painful and it didn’t take long for Lincoln to become 18 and leave the orphanage to build himself into a real adult. He had Leviathan Institute once he left the orphanage and from then on out, he continued to help out around the orphanage and mentor the kids who wanted his help. Being a student and someone who spent his spare time at the orphanage helped him to become a fine man who was able to see things through another’s eyes. As he grew older, he studied and was able to be the Institute’s Guidance Counsellor.

Powers came naturally to Lincoln and they are the reason that he lost his family. He does not consider this to be a bad thing, despite what people say. Lincoln has been able to communicate with the dead since he was a very young boy. If you were to speak to his biological parents, they could tell you of events as a child that haunted them to this day; but Lincoln won’t. He has learnt throughout his life that he can also summon the dead. The defining moment in his life was at the age of four he gained an ‘imaginary friend’ that stayed with him and protected him. He called him his guiding light but his parents soon realised that with the bumps in the house and the dark things that happened to them, their son was communicating with the dead. They tried the priest, the demonologist and wherever else they could find but were left with no other option then to rid themselves of him. They heard of an orphanage for ‘weird’ kids and left him there. Lincoln has grown to know a lot about his powers thanks to the Leviathan institute. Being an adult he has become close with the other professors of the school and is aware when the time to use his powers are. He has always been haunted by ghosts but has found ways to let them know that they can move on. He studies about demons, ghosts, etc and though students think he’s crazy (occasionally) Lincoln has moved on from this. He is in full charge of his powers and despite letting himself slip to see certain members of his family who have since passed, he is able to move away from what plagues him.

As an adult, Lincoln was able to find solace at the place that gave him a roof over his head and a love for helping people. If he is not at the Leviathan Institute he is at the Orphanage that housed him growing up. Luckily for Lincoln, he found a young girl who loved him enough and adopted her so she would not have to go through what he went through, and would have a family with him and with the mutants at the institute. Tabitha Rhodes, his adopted daughter, was found by him at the age of three and has since been in his care legally. He has enjoyed raising her and has watched her grow into a lovely young woman. The two are very close and don’t mind being seen together or having lunch. He has filled his own life with love and adoration for the people around them both. Leviathan has been the little home he had always wanted. Being the Guidance Counsellor was a step up from something that he didn’t know was possible. Being in the world of mutants has helped him accept himself and move on from his biological family to help grow and expand on his little family. Lincoln also enjoys going to the nearby town, Leavensworth, that houses the local pub and museum. He’s a very artistic man for someone who can talk to the dead and knows an awful lot about everything going on around him in the way of war and crisis.

This woman’s Tale Begins With:

Tabitha Rhodes was very young when she was dropped off outside of a mutant Orphanage. She never knew them and in her heart, she didn’t want to know them. Nothing made her curious or made her want to jump on a plane and find them. Being only 3 months when she was handed over, Tabitha remembers nothing about her birth parents, she is okay not knowing them. Tabitha was 3 years old when she was adopted by a 22 year old man named Lincoln James. From a young age she had a strong connection with him and the two are inseparable. Lincoln raised Tabitha in the Leviathan Institute where he had a job as a Guidance Counselor, on his weekends he hung out with her and helped out around the orphanage. Tabitha loved being raised in the massive school. She enjoyed the huge oak desk that her father got to sit at and she loved running around yelling the words to Elvis that had been sung to her when she couldn’t sleep. Tabitha grew up under Lincoln’s care and although they never legally changed her name she went under Tabitha James. Her school records were under it, doctors, etc. Tabitha chose to take his name when she was 10. She sat Lincoln down and asked him very calmly. At the time they could not legally afford the change and she was fine with that. Tabitha just enjoyed the little things like taking his name, calling him dad and even when she’s sad she’ll still ask him to sing Elvis to her.

Mutants surrounded the girl growing up and she was always fascinated to see a new person show up in the school. Everyone knew Tabitha and she knew everyone. With Lincoln at work, the girl got along with the teachers, and people behind the scenes alike. She knew a lot about different powers and was excited to find out about her own powers. She had had them for as long as she could remember and Tabitha didn’t know what her powers were until they started developing at the age of 2. Her whole body would light up on fire and everyone would be terrified of her and she learned to accept it. Lincoln helped her keep her powers under control and she hadn’t burst into full body flames for years. The tantrums stopped when Lincoln came around and so did that side of her power. Her powers were still wild and she liked to think she was unpredictable but she also learned how to partially control it. Tabitha had learning difficulties and it was hard for her to concentrate for long periods of time. When she was diagnosed with ADHD, she found it easier on the medication she was prescribed. Her mind kept roaring and so did her pyrokinesis, but she was able to slow it down a little more as time went on. Tabitha is able to study for a certain period of time but enjoyed sitting down with her father to do it. Now that she’s a resident, she has more time to learn control and her dad comes to help her whenever he’s free. She enjoyed being a student at the school, but eventually she realized studying the history of mutants was hardly helping her to control her own powers. She graduated the courses she took with better marks than she had expected, and is now focusing all of her time and energy on things that make her life better and easier, like her passions and her powers.

Growing up in such a fun environment has helped her focus and calm herself to a level that she finds okay for others. Tabitha always worried about her ADHD and as it wasn’t diagnosed until schooling she feels like she fell a bit behind. Lincoln has been supportive and helped out as much as possible with her. his one wish for her was that she get a job and try to be attentive in it so Tabitha went out to the nearby town of Leavensworth and works there every few days. She spends the rest of her time agonizing over how to calm her pyrokinesis and tame her mind. Neither work too well, but she is putting in the effort needed to be what she considers a good mutant. With wars waging all the time in the mutant world, Tabitha isn’t sure if she wants to choose sides. She’d never double cross her father and imagines he’ll choose the right side for the both of them. So far she has found most of his decisions to be fair enough. The arguments don’t happen and haven’t happened since she was little. Growing up with only him, they have developed ways of communicating that don’t involve arguments and she’s forever grateful for everything he has provided her with, as his love and support allowed her to have a small yet precious family, and she couldn’t have asked for more. She ensures that she’ll get him back and he has always told her ‘maybe when I’m old and can’t wipe my own ass.” Tabitha is a happy kid who runs around and loves the outdoors - her need to start up a few different sports teams at Leviathan is only fueling her passion for them. She loves drawing, music and playing the drums incredibly loud... She’s getting better at them.

{Fern Mitchell is a Seventeen year old resident. Her powers include all kinds of Feeling Manipulation and Periodic Time Travel. She looks like Sophie Turner and is Available}

This Woman’s Tale Begins With:

Fern Mitchell is from a long time ago. She doesn't know exactly when - no one does, really; maybe some kid with mental abilities has figured it out, but no one is openly sure. The last thing Fern remembers is waking up, dazed and confused, behind the Leviathan Institute. She was covered in blood - it drenched her dress head-to-toe and matted her hair into a large and thick mess of knots. Since then, Stella Lunsford has taken Fern in and she has been scrubbed clean and given a room. Thanks to some of the mutants, they've collectively managed to get her name, her age, her power and the fact that she's come from a really long time ago, but that's it. It's like Fern has been wiped clean, a fresh slate type deal. With this all going on, Fern may get little snippets of a time from her life, but they seem like dreams and she always have to try and figure out what they mean. When the snippets first started, Fern tried to push them away and wanted nothing to do with them. She gets that she’s from the past but right now she is happy where she is and having someone like Stella in her life has helped her remarkably. Fern isn’t used to all the technology and the motion of time that seems to sweep over her everyday, but learning her powers and about herself has been a wild and fun ride for Fern.

As far as they know, Fern has the ability to jump through periods in time, but with some rather unattractive side effects, not all of which they even know yet. She also has the ability to control feelings. She can empathize with your feelings, and change them to whatever she wants. This is a help to her, because when she enters a room she can assess exactly how people are feeling towards her, and make them more friendly. Because she has only just come to the present, however, she is trying to minimize the powers she uses. She understands that she is learning about her powers but having them in her life has made it occur to her that she could slip away and never come back. Fern isn’t ready to leave and forget the people she has met and being at the Institute is a big deal to her. Being around other mutants feels different for her. Despite not knowing her own decade or how old she truly is (compares to how she looks) she is very at home as a student who learns. Having her feeling manipulation has helped her out a lot as she can make people feel the way she wants. There are a few people she won’t touch with her powers and that’s because they didn’t need to be influenced. She likes to charm people but if it doesn’t work then she is all about manipulating their feelings towards her and making sure she is wanted or loved. Fern uses her powers for good, but other than that she is quite open to learning how to use them for bad; the problem is that Fern wouldn’t understand she was using them for bad until she saw the end result.

Fern is sweet, but innocent and naive. She doesn't know anything about herself and is trying very hard to discover herself by trying new things. She is taking every subject available to her at Leviathan - which means she doesn't have a lot of free time. Her thirst for knowledge is fueled by the fact that she can't remember anything, and she wants to fill her brain with information. She gets along well with all of the teachers because she respects their roles, but has slightly more trouble getting along with people her own age or younger because they are simply too rowdy for her. She prefers a simple and calm existence, at this point, anyway. There are several problems with that in her eyes and everyone else’s. She always thought that she would be able to handle the situations that she was thrown in to but when it comes down to it, there’s a war about to be waged. Of course Fern thinks she’s on the good side, but with her little snippets and everything that she’s starting to learn, her view has become skewed. There are things that stand out as good and bad for sure, but she knows that there are things that could pass for both no matter how you look at it, as issues are not always as black and white as she had hoped they could be - everything is grey. Those things mess with her head and she’s upset by that. As it turns out, she always leans more towards the bad side, wanting to rebel against some set of rules ingrained in her very being, but she hopes that she won’t hurt anyone whenever the time comes to truly choose. With lessons designed specifically in combat, Fern knows she can take people on if she continues the high intensity training, but doesn’t ever intend to kill. If Stella never spoke to her again she doesn’t know what she would do; the woman has taken on a mother role and Fern can’t lose her like she lost herself and her real mother, if she had one. Her continued research into her past gives her some glimmer of hope that she will be able to eventually understand herself and her origins.

{Darren Matthews is a Twenty Five year old resident. His powers include all kinds of Vision. He looks like Sinqua Walls and is Available}

This Man’s Tale Begins With:

Darren Matthews never met his parents, or never that he can remember. He has always been with his Uncle Adam, an only child and an orphan, with no family outside of his uncle. He remembers nothing before living with Adam and has no wish to - all of his memories are of the institute and the people who have come through. He grew up on the grounds, always believing that you should be mutant and proud - and no other way. For him, mutant is the norm, and when he comes across humans with no exceptional ability, it throws him off. Darren is all about protecting people, and especially humans. He sees them as small and defenseless because they don't have any sort of mutation that can help them defend themselves. But he understands, thanks to his uncle, that they don't always want to be treated this way - luckily he has only had to experience this a few times and has never really had to learn it the hard way. He discovered his powers at the institute, but he thinks that even if he hadn't his uncle wouldn't have made him leave. Adam was all Darren has ever had and even if he had ended up having little to no mutant abilities, their relationship and bond would have been as strong as ever. There was always a place for him at Leviathan. 

Darren has the power of vision, in all it's forms. He has night vision, x-ray vision, heat vision, freeze vision, telescopic vision and even concussion beams. Basically, if it can be done with your eyes, he can do it, and every day he is learning that this only appears to be getting more and more true. Thankfully, even mutations appear to be evolving, so he doesn't have to wear anything over his eyes to stop them from hurting the people around him without warning. He has complete control over his powers, thanks to growing up in the institute and the fact that his uncle is one of the co-founders, so he has had a lot of help. His experience growing up with many people with many different methods used to control their powers means that he has plenty of information to pull from to help him contain his own. His complete and utter control is some of the strongest control observed at Leviathan. His powers are often used for a lot of things - he can fight with certain ones, track with certain ones and find out things with certain ones. He is a great asset to any team - whether defending the institute, attacking a force coming against them, tracking down new mutants or escaped mutant convicts or even just in training situations. Also, being the young man he is, he uses them for every day uses - heat vision and freeze vision come surprisingly in handy for making food, and night vision allows him to get up to pee in the middle of the night without turning on a single light.

Adam Reyes has raised Darren well. He is independent, but friendly enough that he makes friends easily. He can be aloof and standoffish at times, sometimes allowing an unknown prejudice about his growing up at the institute to fool him into thinking he has more say over everyday happenings - no matter how big or how small. He enjoys helping other people, as he's been taught to do by the people he has grown up with. His uncle has had a massive effect on his life (being the only family he has ever known), and so Darren acts much like he does, except softer. He is defensive, and likes to protect people. His only downfall, really, is that he is too trusting. He doesn't consider the fact that people could have anything but good intentions, and sometimes this leads him to protect people who are going to stab him in the back. At least it means that he always defends the people who need it, or deserve it, without question. He usually doesn't hold grudges, unless you're one of the people with less than good intentions, and even then he'll protect you again if it comes down to it. Darren has been aware of fighting between mutants, humans and anything else that could possibly exist in the world that he lives in; he’d be an idiot not to. His close involvement with the running of the institute means he has always had inside knowledge about underground battling or strife, whether it has risen and become something more, or stayed hidden and beneath the surface. What Darren refuses to do, is take the opposite side of his Uncle, Adam Reyes. Darren doesn’t care what side they’re on, but he’s with his Uncle Adam, no matter what. The man who has given him life and clothes and shelter is the only person he has ever had in his life that has been more than friendship, his only family member, and to go behind his back and have to oppose him is something that Darren will never allow to happen. They are with each other 100% and nothing Adam could do would ever convince Darren that ending up on the other side of the battle from his own family is the smarter decision.

{Fawn Becker is a Twenty One year old student. She has Wings. She looks like Aja Naomi King and is Available}

This Woman’s Tale Begins With:

Fawn has a normal childhood. She grew up as an only child with both of her parents in an average house in an average neighborhood. Fawn wasn't popular or unpopular; she was in the middle just like everything else in her life. Everything was mild and a little boring, so Fawn adapted to her lifestyle and followed suit. She had friends, but none she took an active interest in outside of politeness, and more often than not she got along with her work, and didn't cause any trouble. It is very rare to see her angry, but when she is you need to watch out. Her temperament is generally placid but when infuriated, Fawn is a force to be reckoned with. She can use the silent treatment for days if you’re lucky, and if you’re not she can blow your head clean off. She knows where it hurts, and will use it if she needs to. Fawn had a healthy relationship with her parents - they didn't argue much and everything in the house went smoothly. They took turns doing jobs around the house and everyone respected everyone else. Fawn sometimes wished she’d been given siblings as when her parents went away the house could be quite cold and lonely, but she was happy nonetheless. The only thing the Becker family didn't agree upon was Fawn's obsession with butterflies, and even from an early age an obsession was what it was. Her shelves were covered with books and magazines detailing many species of the insects. Any science fair project she would do their life cycle and many items around her room were adorned with their patterns. She had a flower box beneath her windowsill full of plants that attracted the creatures which fascinated her so much. At all times, other than when it got dark, her windows were wide open to allow butterflies to enter her room.

One morning, stepping out of the shower and looking in the full length mirror in her bathroom, Fawn saw them. Tiny wings, sprouting from beneath her shoulder blades, light blue and patterned like those of a monarch butterfly. At first she’d thought it was a psychotic break, the weight of school bearing down on her as it does on all university students to the point of losing touch with reality, but she was to be proven wrong. Each day her wings got bigger, until she was unable to hide them beneath her clothes. She told her parents and they took her to a doctor who said he'd never seen anything of the sort. After a few referrals to different doctors and specialists, it was clear no one has ever seen anything of the sort. After one of the last visits to the doctor’s office she would attend, Fawn swore to herself she'd only lie on her front from now on, to stop her wings from becoming crumpled or damaged, especially at the size they were. Her parent's kept her home from school and did all they could for Fawn to make her comfortable. Her wings grew rapidly until they stopped, spreading in size from taller than her head and down to behind her knees. With her arms outstretched, she could touch the edges of her wings with her hands. Every item of clothing she had was adapted to allow her wings to break comfortably through and Fawn wondered how long she could stay inside the house harboring a secret as big as this from all the people in the world outside. She pretended that, like her parents, she was concerned, when in reality she couldn't be more ecstatic.

A particularly big coincidence concerning an unidentified man led Fawn’s parents to hear of the institute and decide it was wisest to sign her up. Fawn was having no life staying inside the small space she called home and Leviathan seemed the best option at this point. Fawn still hasn't mastered flying - she can get a few feet off of the ground before she falters. She is still quiet, but much more interested in the world now that she has experienced and witnessed all the great things nature has to offer seemingly normal people. She attends all of her classes and is particularly fond of history - learning abut the first mutants like her and how far they’ve come since is so interesting to her. She also enjoys her private sessions that hone her specific skill. Her teacher is the only other person she has seen on campus with wings and he is the one teaching her to fly. It gives her courage to see that Ellery has it mastered so perfectly, because it means it can be done. Fawn doesn't like the fact that some people who come here act like it's no big deal, but she respects that everyone has grown up differently, and for some people this was always where they were going to end up. She is too new to the mutant system to know of the rivalry's within it, but given the choice she was always side with those who have treated her and the people around her best. She is the kind of person to let her heart and brain work together to make the right decision, but ultimately her heart leads and her brain follows and reassures. She hopes to make many friends at Leviathan Institute but knows it can be a little difficult when you’re the new girl.

{Garret Summers is a Twenty Two year old resident. His powers include all kinds of Energy Attacks and Generating Force Fields. He looks like Bob Morley and is Unavailable}

This Man’s Tale Begins With:

Garret Summers is the youngest of three mutant boys. He grew up in a close knit household up until his father started going out on missions. When his father was younger, he had been a part of the X-men and Garret was left at home with his brothers. All had exhibited signs of being mutants, but Garret never really paid attention to his. He felt that his powers seemed to run through the family and he wasn’t special enough to receive anything that would be different from his father’s or brother’s; A few energy kinks through his family made him sure that he would also get some sort of energy attack. Having to grow up in a small community in the Philippines, he was able to be around young children and have the fun childhood he did. All Garret wanted was to be normal, it took him a while to come to terms with his powers but he arrived with the help of his brothers. Having the supportive house that Garret did, he was able to enhance his powers with the people around him as well as stay in the ‘normal’ head space as well as area that he had so fondly grown up in. His friends were never allowed to know that he was a mutant and when his mother passed, it seemed it was harder for him to hide his powers. Having one of the biggest Typhoons he had ever seen happen, his community was almost wiped out. His father had been away and when it came to losing his mother, his heart was ripped out of him. The emotions whirled around him and felt himself and his self awareness expanding a little too late. He realised that he had force field generation running through him and he didn’t realise this until too late. Garret blamed himself a lot for his mother’s and everyone’s death once he realised. he could have stopped it. It’s taken years for him to grow from that but he’s been able to learn from his emotions and to elevate himself to learning about his powers.

Garret spent most of his time after that helping his brother’s rebuild their community with the few others that survived. It seemed that he couldn’t help as much as he wanted too and when his father came home, he decided it was time that Garret did what the rest of his family had done. Garret packed his stuff and ended up going to Leviathan Institute. At first he was a little quiet and reserved. It seemed harder for him to settle into such a bustling area and with everyone around him, he finally found himself relaxing and being able to explore even more of his powers. He was able to talk to people like Professor Stella Lunsford who also generated force fields and relate to her past. He found himself opening up and using his energy attacks to practice with others and help them further their powers. He found his calling at the school and that was something he thought would never happen. Garret wants to be a professor when he grows up and he’s aware that it’s taking after his father but he knows that deep down his mother would want that for him and he wants it for himself too. Having his powers that are easily hide-able has made his life easier and he can go out in public and not have to use them, but the controlling them is still something he’s learning to do. He’s been doing better now that he’s come to terms with his mother’s death and he’s able to feel comfortable in the place he lives. He doesn’t seem to be in full control, but he’s getting there. Garret found a helpfulness inside of himself when he was able to get a job at the Institutes library. He enjoys the bustle but the relaxing sensation of it; reminds him of home.

Being in Leviathan has been a life changing experience for Garret. He’s become a fun loving and energetic young man who enjoys causing trouble. It’s like himself as a child, but able to be an adult at the same time. He’s come to grips with his mother’s passing and he’s okay to talk about it. He still writes home to tell his brother’s about what he’s learning and he loves being around new faces constantly. With the new atmosphere came new friends and it was amazing to him. He’s become such good friends with Avery Black, Connor Lewis and many others. All walks of life are in Garret’s life and being able to pick up on experiences from them, which makes it feel very community like for him. He’s met all kinds of people and he enjoys getting to know more about other people’s powers. Being a mutant now excites him rather than makes him ashamed and he hates telling people that he was once ashamed of something so magnificent. Being a grateful person (now), Garret enjoys everything that he’s given. He enjoys the friendships he has, the fact that he can go to the gym and other places at much as he can. He can’t tell the future, but he knows it’s going to be good and he’s full of excitement and mischief every day. He’s aware that there’s trouble brewing and if he’s called upon, he’ll fight and he’ll do it for the right team; he’s just not sure which one that is yet.

{Avery Black is a Twenty year old student. Her powers include Invisibility and some kinds of Intangibility. She looks like Hayley Williams and is Unavailable}

This Woman’s Tale Begins With:

Growing up in a small town where rumours, true or false, spread quickly, everyone knew Avery was different. Her parents had tried to keep her secret under wraps, constantly telling her to try and contain herself - Avery was an only child and so her parents were raising a child for the first time. With experience, maybe they could have been good parents, but for Avery they were not. Without a sibling to confide in, or any friends at all, Avery felt alone in the world. Even from a young age she tried to tell them she couldn't control what was happening to her, but it was no use - she was pushed out into the world constantly being told she had to be normal, she had to be the same as everyone else. It wasn’t her fault that she was so different. Every night she would lie in bed and wish that tomorrow her real parents would come for her, tell her she was normal on their planet and take her away. After 13 years of wishing, Avery put the childish idea to the back of her mind and refused to believe in something so pathetic. All the children at the primary school she had been to had stayed away from her because she was different, but when she entered high school, this became even more so because she began to actively rebel against fitting in. Any of the few people who tolerated her or would briefly greet her in the hallway began to pull away from her, and at this point the girl didn’t even mind. She caused trouble as much as she could and this led to her being further excluded; Avery was used to the treatment from her family and the people in her community and no longer cared she wasn’t liked. However, this did attract the attention of Hale Brooks, who would grow to be her best friend.

Fortunately, Avery's powers would become useful to her when she realized she could control them a little. It took her years and a few lucky coincidences to work this out, but eventually she managed to do more than have them start up at any time and freak nearby strangers out. At whim, she could walk through walls and turn invisible, but the harder she tried to turn it on and off, the more she realized how difficult it was. As her powers progressed she saw it wasn’t only walking through walls. Instead, after research, she discovered it to be a small form on intangibility. Though her stronger power was invisibility, Avery picked up a few strains of intangibility, but not all of them. She still managed to walk through walls and ignore physical matter other than the walls, but she also managed to ignore energies (heat, electricity, etc.) and a few steps of walking on water. Hale helped her, and eventually the two of them combined their specialties to be used for sneaking in and out of places they weren't allowed, or taking things that didn't belong to them. When Avery's parents found out what her and Hale were up to, they realized she could potentially hone her powers with a little help and if they could find somewhere that would take her, the trouble would be out of their hands and she wouldn't be their responsibility. When they read about Leviathan they immediately enrolled her and as she left, they told her not to come back. This stung her, no matter how hard she tried to pretend it didn’t. Some small part of her had hoped that after she managed to control her powers, her parents would want her. On the ride to the Leviathan Institute, Avery made a final decision. She would never try and be someone she was not and would embrace the fullness of her character as much as she could. She wouldn’t hide her powers, she would trust everyone she met and she would be as naughty and fun as she’d always been in her teenage years. The time of being invisible was gone and she wouldn’t conform any more.

When the girl first arrived at Leviathan, she felt utterly alone. Her plans to embrace her personality were temporarily put on the back burner as she tried to settle in without Hale - the only person who'd even bothered to get to know her was now far away. When she arrived at her dorm room, a quiet but friendly girl was already inside. Avery was thankful that she had been given someone so kind as one of her first interactions with students at the school. Her classes were okay when she attended them, although trying to control her specialties was still a pain - at any moment she could become invisible without noticing, or when trying to walk through walls could end up walking straight into them. Once Avery realized that the people here were just like her, she blossomed. She continues to be the trouble maker she's always been, enjoying a good laugh wherever she can get one. After years of being avoided, Avery takes every chance to make friends, easily trusting the people around her and defending her true friends loyally. She is competitive and stubborn, but often doesn't take things seriously enough. For the first time in all her years, Avery has multiple friends. Garret, Blake and Hale are her closest friends, though she has many other mutants around her age that she talks to and would happily get to know better. She doesn’t need to bend her characteristics to each individual and instead acts the way she feels is natural and makes friends with similar interests. She is silly with each of them and for the first time in her life she is fully and truly happy. The only thing she has been seen to take seriously is the fact that she could be taken away from Leviathan at any point, and with nowhere to go, this isn't really an option. Avery is still oblivious to the turmoil between mutants at the school and mutants outside of it, and has no idea a war is being planned between two very distinct sides.
