It wasn’t like he wasn’t used to Vienna brushing him off, but it did always sting a bit. Yet, he simply shrugged a shoulder, acting as coy as ever. “I thought I was the therapist here,” he offered as a joke before running his fingers through his hair to try to fix it. As much as he wanted to discuss the ongoing investigation involving her father, he knew it would be breaking protocol. So, instead, he geared his attention towards her again. “Besides, I don’t want to talk about me. I want to hear about you.”
Although she was normally good at deflecting, when it came to Garrett it seemed to be a lot harder. She’d change the subject or attempt to put the attention on him and he’d somehow find a way to steer it right back to her. Letting out an overexaggerated sigh, Vienna rolled her eyes, leaning forward to rest her chin against her fist. “But you are SO MUCH more interesting, truly. You know what my day consisted of? Getting really fucking high and laying out by the pool. See? Boring.”
“Are you kidding?” he laughed, leaning back against the sofa. “That sounds a hell of a lot better than my day,” he mimicked her exaggerated sigh as he continued. “I spent all day trying to fix the AC in your dad’s office,” he lied. Well, partially. Garrett had snuck in early and messed with the wiring; it gave him an easy in to look through his belongings once Hawthorne couldn’t stand the heat —literally. “Now that’s boring.” he looked over at Vi, she was as beautiful as ever, and it killed him. Clearing his throat, he got up from the sofa and headed towards his kitchen. “I’m gonna grab a drink. Do you want anything?” he offered, glancing back at her once he grabbed the whiskey from the cabinet. “Just like old times?” he grinned, waving the bottle at her.
