Big City, Big Sky

Photos, paintings and musings from Gary Conger, New York artist. Since moving to Harlem and enjoying a panoramic view of the city stretching from Southwest to Northeast, gazing out from the ninth floor at the roofline level of so many buildings and water towers, I am overwhelmed by the magnitude of the sky behind and over those myriad buildings and those humble, wooden water tanks. Even a city like New York, which fancies itself the center of the universe, the energy source for all creative endeavors, the hub of the human world’s economy, even a megalopolis like New York is dwarfed by the sky, the infinite sky, the ever-changing beautiful sky. So, my blog, as you may have surmised, will be mostly about that big sky that hovers over this Big Apple and changes its colors and clouds constantly.
