“AAahhahah-ahah-hah- Sapphireplease-” The red gem’s face was ablaze, Ruby trying to cover her cheeks. She was not embarassed- Sapphire could never embarass her- but she felt so flustered and pleased by her lover’s reaction.

“I- you really like it, huh?”

“ I do!” She said eye wide and sparkling before she gasped clapping her hands after setting her down, and with a glow her outfit had also changed.

She was now in shorts, her hair in a ponytail, and having a cute tank top with a shawl on her shoulders.

“There, now we are swapped.” She said with a hum, feeling a bit exposed. Especially since her gloves were quite smaller, but she didn’t mind. She liked showing off her legs.... once and a while.”What do you think?”

            The small gem giggled and grabbed her with surprising strength spinning her around. Oh, how pretty she looked! She began to kiss her all over as she held her close.

          She was hoping that the question would never be asked. Ruby didn’t want to remember any of it, and she didn’t want to startle her love, but… she deserved to know. After all, what was happening to her was a great tragedy.

          “D-during the battle, your gem… i-it was cracked. After it ended, though, Rose healed you, and I’ve kept you safe here, making sure nothing happened to you.” Sniffling, she leaned in closer to Sapphire, before her arms were around her again, holding her as close as possible. “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry… I should have protected you back there, none of this would have happened…”

“....Ruby, it’s not your fault.” she said after a few seconds. “There’s no way to stop how fragile my body can be. I’m not meant for battle. Of course, I can bearly reform, it hurts to honestly, which is why I take my time.” she gently touched her cheek. “If I got cracked while poofed there was a high chance I could come out with any number of defects. I can still see, in a sense.”

She gave a smile, leaning over and kissing her face. “Thank you, for putting up with someone like me.”

As soon as her hand was against her cheek, one hand quickly came up and held it there, not wanting to lose her touch. She had missed it dearly, and she wanted to be as close to her as possible.

“Huh? Wh-what… what do you mean? I-I’m right here!” Panic settled into her voice and before she said anything else, her other brushed her bangs away, praying that maybe this would help somehow. It had to…

“I’m right here in front of you… I… I…” Then the tears came, and instantly, Ruby felt horrible. “No, please don’t cry, Sapphire…” She started to wipe them away, but what good was that going to do? Sapphire couldn’t see, and she didn’t know why, or how to fix it.

“I know, I know you are, I can feel you.” she frowned and shifted a bit, before shifting, he had heard Roses dress.

“What happened after we got separated? I don’t remember anything but being in great pain, then poofed.”

She wasn’t sure what was going on, but she hoped that this would be worth it. And that she could understand as she frowned a bit.

          When Sapphire had poofed, Ruby felt so alone and frightened. Her gem had cracked, and she only blamed herself. She wasn’t strong enough to protect the one thing she cared about the most. Of course, she was healed, but the wait was horrible.

          Today, after so many days had passed, was the day she was looking forward to. Her beloved blue Gem was returning, but when she returned, Ruby was surprised. Why didn’t she come running to her? “Sapphire…?” She mumbled quietly, confused and worried. Something was wrong, this wasn’t like her at all.

          Almost immediately, Ruby began rushing towards her, tears quickly beginning to fall from her eyes. “Sapphire!” Soon enough, she was by her side, and her arms moved around her fragile form. “I-it’s okay, I’m right here…”

“Ruby?” She recognized that voice, another quick vision of herself crying, she was going to cry? Why was that? Ugh, this was fustrating. She reached over, a hand pressed against the others cheek clumsily.

“I can’t...” she frowned confused.

“Ruby, why can’t I see you?”

Oh, well, there came the tears.

She always took her time with reforming, she had to just be patient, her form would come to her in time, it wasn’t often she was retrating into her gem.

Eventually she came out, exhausted, and stumbled forward surprised by how dark it was.

Had she reformed in the middle of the night? Though... she heard tons of worried voices. Her vision flashed, revealing them all running towards her worried, wait, what had happened? She frowned as she heard them actually come up, and sat up a bit straighter. Wait, why didn’t she just see them?

Wait. She couldn’t see. No, this wasn’t good. What happened!?
