“Ruby!” She laughed loudly a dark blue blush painting her cheeks.

Somehow she managed to make Sapphire laugh with that dumb joke! Sapphire either had a sense of humor as embarrassing as Ruby, or she was faking it. But there was a sincerity to that smile that Ruby knew.

She leaned into Sapphire, a dumb smile spread across her face.

She smiled softly clinging onto the red gem’s arm.  "You no one’s ever been able to make me laugh before. My whole life was all business. I had to be serious because of my status but with you I can let go. Actually have fun.”

She smiled softly as she grasped Ruby's​ hand. She pressed a soft kiss to it. “It’ll be alright. I’ve got you and you’ve got me. We have each other and if we’re in real danger we can form her again to fight off the drones okay?”

“Yeah…” Ruby said in awe. Every time she touched Sapphire, it felt like the first time they fused. Something was so awe inspiring about Sapphires touch.

Ruby felt warmer just thinking about being fused with Sapphire again. The comfort of knowing Sapphire will be there with her wherever they go, made her feel happier about the abysmal fate the crystal gems looked up to.

She giggled in amusement. Ruby was just so damn cute. Especially when she got all nervous like this. “You’re heating up again.’

Ruby blushed in embarrassment. She didn’t even notice the ground under her starting to smoke. But at least it made her Sapphire laugh.

She chuckled lightly. "My little eternal flame." She caressed her cheek and gave her a quick peck on the lips. "You really are adorable you know that?"
