I should NOT be thinking about another AU because I have enough to manage as it is but I have thought about this before so screw it, HLVRAI2 AU or Double Stasis AU
Like Half Life 2, post HLVRAI Gordon is put into Stasis. He’s not the only one, however.
After Benrey was defeated, G-Man was ordered to put him into Stasis too, though most assumed he was dead rather than suddenly missing like Gordon.
Cut to about twenty years later, Gordon and Benrey wake up on a train and are not happy to see one another since y’know, last time they saw each other, they were trying to kill each other. Butttt Benrey’s powers are on the fritz and he’s exhausted and Gordon wants to avoid violence at all costs so since they’re lost with no idea with what happened or how they got there, they form a reluctant alliance.
Doesn’t help that Gordon is a wanted man and since Benrey appears to be aiding him (and they would hunt him down if they knew he wasn’t human and had powers regardless), Benrey becomes a target too.
Luckily, the Science Team, while scattered, is still around and are very surprised to see their friends again.
For this AU, I’m still working out some of the details but Joshua takes the place of Alyx, now all grown up and wants to help his dad (And whoever this other guy is) and is quite good with technology.
Forzen has a Barney-esk role where he’s a spy inside the Combine (Though he really doesn’t want to be) and is the first to find Gordon and Benrey.
I really like the idea of Darnold taking Issac’s place and remaking Gordon’s HEV Suit + making the teleporter.
I don’t know why but I think it would be interesting if Coomer is in Ravenholm-
I feel like the team collectively goes through different levels of shock after seeing these two come back after all these years? Not to mention they’re all dealing with their own problems already because the world’s gone to shit since they were gone.
Gordon and Benrey on the other hand are grappling with how much time they lost in their own ways- Gordon missed his son growing up (Tommy raised him with help from the others) and Benrey’s starting to feel like he really didn’t matter in the long run (Though a few aliens may beg to differ) and now everything’s changed for both of em.
