(  mint ranchrawee,  female,  she/her,  muse  01  )  was  that  DARIKA CHAIYAPHAT  i  saw  heading  towards  the  water?  you  know  the  TWENTY FIVE  year  old  from  LANIKAI COVE?  can  you  believe  they've  only  lived  in  manoa  bay  for  TWENTY THREE YEARS,  it  seems  like  so  much  longer.  last  i  checked  they  were  known  around  town  as  the  THE GOLDEN GIRL because  of  their  tendency  to  be  EXTROVERTED and  SECRETIVE,  but  what  else  did  you  expect  from  a  LEO  who  reminds  you  of  LONG SUMMER DAYS ON THE BEACH, LOUD LAUGHTER, KALEIDOSCOPIC SUNSET, and TREATING YOURSELF TO A SPA DAY…  since  hayden's  disappearance  they  have  been  happily  working  as  a  SALES ASSOCIATE at  LUXE,  but  that's  all  about  to  change  because  the  eye  HAS  set  their  sights  on  exposing  all  of  their  lies,  as  well  as  SECRET.  i  really  hope  they  don't  incriminate  themself.

her dad is the chief financial officer for a major software company and her mom is the classic trophy wife

darika was born in thailand but after her dad's software company took off they moved to hawaii so that he could help integrate his software for the u.s. navy

her family was not considered wealthy when they first came to america. in fact, they didn’t have much money until darika was in elementary school so some people who met her as a child may remember this version of her family though her parents act like this history never happened

darika is truly the golden retriever type. very loyal to friends and family and is a leo as well so she loves the spotlight

she always looks happy but wears her smile like a mask - shes lowkey very depressed and anxious

she's a perfectionist

she feels a lot of pressure to be perfect for her family because shes an only child. they expect her to be very prim and proper but shes goofy around her close friends

she's instagram famous because she takes a lot of pictures of her lavish lifestyle but she doesn't see this as a viable career so she only does it for fun

she currently works at luxe mostly just to fill up her free time because she went to college for business management but has not done anything with her degree...her dad expects her to join his company but she keeps avoiding that topic

one of the ways that she de-stresses is through yoga, pilates and reading on the beach

she was popular in highschool because she knew everyone and was a cheerleader but ever since she turned twenty-something shes been lost

“ yeah,  maybe,  but  you  also  need  to  finish  the  suggestions  that  are  given  to  you, ”  she’s  quick  to  reply,  a  soft  snicker  slipping  past  her  lips  —  thinking  about  the  (  what  seems  like  )  a  never  ending  list  she’s  consistently  giving  to  darika.  which  was  basically  every  single  book  hailey  finishes  and  knows  her  friend  would  enjoy:  their  tastes  not  so  different  from  each  other.  

a  confirmation  of  such  is  given  when  the  other  says  such. “ exactly.  i’m  not  giving  you  any  other  recommendations  until  you  finish  that  one.  especially  since  it’s  been,  like,  what?  two  weeks? ”    then  her  eyes  drift  towards  the  clock  quickly  before  falling  onto  the  opposing  brunette  again,  “ about  ten  minutes  ..  if  you  don’t  mind  waiting  that  long, ”  obvious teasing,  “ do  you  want  to  get  some  ice  cream?  or  go to the  boardwalk? ”

“I would’ve finished this book earlier, but it’s taking forever to get to the good stuff. I’m on the sixth chapter, and no one has taken their clothes off!” Darika’s lips tightened to a line just as she plopped down on one of the reading chairs nearby. It was a familiar spot that she often settled in. “Yikes! Ten minutes?” She pretended to contemplate for a moment. “I guess I’ll wait…You’re lucky I like you.” Pristine white sneakers kicked up on the nearest table. Darika never waited for an invitation to make herself feel at home around her friends. Her parents would have been appalled at her behavior. “Both! I can’t say no to ice cream or a good time at the boardwalk.” She grinned.

“ don’t  tell  me  you  came  all  this  way  just  to  see  me, ”  hailey  remarks,  walking  up  to  the  counter  and  placing  both  hands  flat  against  the  surface  —  eyes  never  leaving  theirs.  “ ‘cause  it’s  hard  to  believe  that  you’d  actually  be  coming  in  here  for  a  book. ”  though,  given  everything  that’s  happened  recently,  there  doesn’t  seem  to  be  much  else  that  can  surprise  her.

"That's not true!" Darika grinned, her slender fingers traced the row of books in between them. "You know I love a good dirty romance every so often." Underneath her bright exterior was a storm swirling in her head and a hard lump in her throat that wouldn’t go away. To be honest, the recent news about Hayden's phone had freaked her out and she couldn’t sit alone in her condo for another minute. “But you’re right. I’m still reading the last smutty book I got from you. I figured I’d stop by and bother you for a bit. When does your shift end?”
