I'll admit it. I was hugely sceptical about Scooby Apocalypse. I'm a huge fan of the creative team, but that concept? But, being an anal-retentive collector I had to get it (I've got everything else JM DeMatteis has written. Can't break the collection). OK. It's great. It's exiting. It's intriguing. It's funny. There are plenty of nods to the classic versions of the characters but that isn't what drives the characters or the humour. I enjoyed it so much I'm thinking of giving Future Quest a try (but I still won't go near Wacky Raceland)

GEEK PRIMER TOP 10 COUNTDOWN - NUMBER 1: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

Yes. Not a dream! Not a hoax! Far and away the most popular Geek Primer module was for the revival of a 1960’s spy TV series as a big budget movie. And I didn’t need much encouragement to make this a topic as I’ve been a fan of UNCLE since I saw it (maybe in the late 1960’s).

This module had nearly three times the views of any other module.

GEEK PRIMER TOP 10 COUNTDOWN - NUMBER 2: SUPERGIRL

There were two topics on my list right from day one – Batgirl and Supergirl. I’m a big fan of both characters but had to wait for a reason to create a Geek Primer on them (or faked a request). I finally got to do Batgirl in the Killing Joke module (and no, I haven’t seen the movie and am not sure I want to) and the new Supergirl series was all the reason I needed to do this module.

This module was done not long after some casting announcements had been made. If I’d been able to find a reason I would have done additional modules for the end of the first season and the start of the second season.

GEEK PRIMER TOP 10 COUNTDOWN - NUMBER 3: FREE COMIC BOOK DAY

I think this is the Geek Primer where the geeks really came into their own.

GEEK PRIMER TOP 10 COUNTDOWN - NUMBER 4: AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON

The idea for the Geek Primer came after seeing lots of videos of people just talking about what they were reading or watching. There were so many of this type of video that I thought, “if you’re going to do a video series it should, at least, take a different approach.” And lo, the Geek Primer emerged.

Number 4: Avengers Age of Ultron.

This was the very first Geek Primer. Before there were Geek Primer geeks and before I had a camera to film on.

Nearly half of the Geek Primers have been related to superheroes but occasionally another topic slips through.

Number 6: X-Files

There’s nothing a geek likes more than a good conspiracy theory. (or is the idea that all geeks like conspiracy theories, actually a conspiracy?)

Number 5: Sabrina

Sometimes, the announcement of a new direction in a long running series was used as a flimsy excuse to look at a topic I was already interested in. So, when the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was announced, it was a great opportunity to cover Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

The Geek Primer top 10 modules countdown continues with two early entries. This was before the Geek Primer geeks were introduced and when t was being filmed via the built-in camera on the laptop.

Number 8: Doctor Who

Made almost immediately following the end of Season 8 of Doctor Who, spoilers abound.

Number 7: Star Wars the Force Awakens.

Early modules included reactions to trailers. And no matter what you loved or hated about the Force Awakens when you finally saw it, MILLENNIUM FALCON! WOO!

The Geek Primer geeks love their super-heroes. So, its no surprise that the top 10 Geek Primer modules are full of them.

Number 10: The Flash.

Made to coincide with the start of the second season of the Flash, this module included a favourite special effect and a mistake with one of the images. Was the mistake intentional? It is now.

Number 9: Wonder Woman.

This module was prompted by the change of costume for Wonder Woman’s relaunch in the DC New 52. It also features the first guest star with Kate Patricia Lumsden playing female versions of the Geek Primer geeks. Yes, the Geek Primer did gender switches before Ghostbusters.
