((Okay, so. It’s been about a week, tbh I still don’t feel stable enough to come back. Friend accurately pointed out this is a sup situation so I gotta work out how/if I’m gonna address this in my head first. Tumblr really isn’t safe for me at the moment, it’s started to sour my feelings on things I enjoyed as well as people that don’t deserve it, and I don’t want that to happen.

Truth be told, Arlert’s assessment wasn’t entirely off. He’d caught the Commander’s attention with his outstanding intelligence, as he’d had Shadis’ during training, but the young recruit was undeniably lacking in other areas - Areas important to the task Erwin was giving him. There were much better candidates to be put in charge of the team’s practice.

But that was the point. Failure outside the walls was unacceptable and cost lives, but here the worst that could happen was a loss of time and some feelings of frustration. Here, the stakes were low and Erwin could step in if things went wrong.
