About 10 years ago, I first started slamming. The first time I got on stage was with @austinpoetryslam I wrote a group piece with Christopher Lee and we performed it in a little stage at Ego's in Austin, Tx. Since then I have known San Antonio Puro Slan as family, grown @laredoborderslam as child, loved BCS @miccheckpoetry as embracing, and seen the beauty of community with @wanpoetry Tonight marks the first time I've made a team that's heading to a national competition! I got 2nd place tonight, and I am so honored to be part of the first WAN team with such inspiring talent: slam powerhouses (and fellow 4 guys poems and rhymes team members) Zachary Caballero and Amir Safi, the incomparable light and truth that is Christopher Diaz, and the silent thunder, quiet storm of Ryan Doubleyou McMasters!! Tonight was a blessing. Tomorrow is possibility! WAN for all, and all for WAN!! #wechangelives
