hey geminis babes! as some of you know, we’ve been discussing the direction we’d like to take geminishq in. with the help of some of our lovely members, we have it all figured out, and it’s super exciting. under the cut is everything you need to know about what is happening next. i apologize for its length but if you could please read it all, it would be beneficial for all of us to be on the same page through our next exciting chapter of this group! thank you in advance for all the time, love, dedication, and patience y’all have given to geminishq so far. if you have any questions at all, please feel free to send them our way!
we don’t know about you guys, but to us, the way things took a turn after evie’s disappearance made the vibe throughout the island far too heavy. while that’s a great, natural reaction, it seems like there’s no coming up from it any time soon and that can really put a damper on some peoples’ muse. so, we’ve decided it’s time to steer away from that and get the dash going with that good, juicy shit again (not to say your character can’t still be upset about it, but time heals, and a time skip will make a nice difference in the variety of threads on the dash).
so as of when we start posting again, the time is now a few weeks since the yacht party, so like, early july. nothing odd or disturbing has gone down around the island since. moods are lifting, people are spending more time outside, partying all night and all day is becoming a staple for some people once again. all in all, everyone is getting back into the swing of enjoying themselves again. gone are the days of hiding and worrying, and the island is sprouting up its regularly scheduled parties, friendships, love connections, hookups, enemies, fights, arguments, injuries--everything that comes with being stranded on an island with mostly people you just met a couple months ago.
let us make this clear that this is a continuation of the plot, not starting over! some of you might need to change or discuss your plots and connections with certain characters thanks to the time skip, so we’re going to give a little bit of time for people to see this post and clean up their plots and such before everyone starts posting once again. we’re going to be clearing out inactive members and updating pages on the main so please keep an eye on the tags and the main so you don’t miss anything!
we are also now going to be incorporating discord into geminishq, which is a chat/messaging system (like aim or line) for those who don’t know. there are three ways to use discord: 1) phone app, 2) the discord website, 3) downloading discord to your desktop. any of them are super easy to use but if you need help getting it going, message us. you can get the app free from the app store or go here to use discord on a computer.
incorporating discord into the group is going to be super fun. it’s like a 24/7, faster, easier way for our characters (and members ooc) to connect and interact when you can’t be on the dashboard!
discord allows you to make pretty much infinite amounts of servers (chat rooms). you can use them to have characters hang out, whether that’s in groups or 1 on 1, and we’ll have a server for everyone on the island when we do events and such.
we are now giving each character the ability to text each other from their phones, but they are still unable to communicate outside of the island! discord can be used for group texts, individual texts, and we will also have a server that is just one big group text with every character on the island.
using discord is not mandatory. however, it is now going to be a big part of ic interactions within the group, so we would recommend using it.
while we have a feeling discord will be used more often than not now, we would still really like to see the dashboard moving. general starters are not necessary, but they are still welcomed if you’d like to post them! otherwise, the dash will be used for longer threads and really whatever you would normally use it for if you like.
we are still going to be using the main for everything you need to know so please make sure you are logging in to tumblr or checking the main frequently for updates!
if you are still interested in continuing on with geminishq after reading about these changes, please send a message to the main’s inbox telling us so, and please include which character(s) you’re going to continue to play and your discord username/#. if you do not plan on staying, please send us a message to let us know as well.
this is now a “closed group,” meaning we won’t be advertising for new members anymore, but if you have friends who want to join the group, they are welcome to send in applications to the main.
feel free to do what you need to do to freshen up your blogs, drafts, threads, plots, etc. we are going to be starting with all new threads (although if there are some you still want to continue, that’s fine) and starters.
please do not start posting starters on the dash until we give the all-clear to do so.
