it was incredible how something so simple like that small word could make gala all happy and fuzzy inside. her stomach dropping slightly and the smile on her face just grew bigger, not being able to hide it anymore. it was so random and unexpected, it sounded so casual too. when did they get to this point again? calling each other names like that. it wasn’t like she could feel surprised by it though, it was just a matter of time. after all they were already all close with each other again. after all, it wasn’t the first time she found herself waking up in gemma’s apartment in the past few weeks. “mhm, you’re spoiling me all over again.” gala replied, running her thumb against the girl’s cheeks when she nuzzled into her hand. it was so sweet and cute, she couldn’t help herself and when she less expected it, gala was already leaning in just to give gem’s lips a small peck. “yeah i didn’t think they would, but i’m still hopeful you know. at least some jumper? and it’s okay, thank you i just need for today i’ll give it right back.” she reassured her placing her hand on top of gemma’s, “i’ll be right back?” she was already getting off the table but still said that for some reason.
gala easily found her way around her ex’s place, and as she walked away into the hall she made sure to move her hips just a little bit more than usual just in case the other was still watching from the table. it didn’t feel that weird to be alone in the girl’s room, looking through her stuff. after all she was the one who told her to do that, and she’s always been so comfortable around her that it wasn’t odd. however, when the first drawer she opened was full with gem’s underwear she closed it right away, as if it were something she wasn’t supposed to see or whatever. gala wasn’t even sure which drawer to open, and after opening two wrong ones she finally found one that happened to have some sweaters. the first thing that caught her attention was a quite familiar one that she hadn’t seen in ages, as soon as she recognized it gala couldn’t help the big smile tugging at her lips. she also found it kind of cute how gem decided to keep it after all this time. when gala took it out of the drawer something else came out too, a small box falling to the ground. as she leaned down to pick it up, she realized she didn’t need to open it to know what it was. it was more like common sense, her stomach dropped and unlike just a few minutes ago it wasn’t in a good way at all. still, gala went for it and opened it. just to close it right away. for some reason, gala’s mind went straight to when gem confessed to be dating someone after their breakup. of course, that was the only logical answer right that moment. she didn’t know much about the other ex, and she didn’t want to but gala assumed this must have been for her.
not wasting any time, gala searched for her clothes that were scattered around the floor and quickly got dressed. not even caring about changing or taking a shower anymore, all she wanted was to get out of there. perhaps her reaction was too exaggerated, assuming things wasn’t the responsible thing to do of course but it wasn’t like she wanted to confront gemma about it either. it was kind of like she just blocked everything else, putting on her boots with a blank expression. she left the small box on the bed and put on the sweater she just found before leaving the room. gala didn’t even look at gemma when she stepped into the living room to pick up her handbag, checking to see if everything was there and she wasn’t forgetting everything. “i took my jumper, i don’t know if i’m forgetting anything but you can keep it it’s fine.” gala said trying to sound as neutral as possible but ultimately failing.
gemma was curious to see gala’s reaction after she called her that certain term on endearment. not that gemma never called gala any type of nickname, clearly. ‘princess’ was usually her go-to term whenever they were together. however, in the past it was usually gala who called gemma things like baby. either way, she liked the cute cheesy names. it appeared that gala did as well from gemma’s current sight of a beautiful growing smile on the other’s lips. she swore that gala was actual sunshine, especially when she smiled. she had such a warm, welcoming personality. unlike gemma, who was quite the opposite. the thing was, they worked together. in the past. history seemed to be repeating itself over again, though this time gemma hoped for a different outcome no matter how difficult it would be to figure out. “i enjoy spoiling you.” she simply responded, eyes shutting upon feeling gala’s thumb brushing over her cheek in such a soothing manner. suddenly, she felt gala’s lips against hers. it was sweet, short, and perfect. her eyes finally opened when gala started speaking again. the sound of her voice was warm and kind, as per usual. “alright, great. there is a towel on the counter for you in the bathroom.” gemma recalled as gala was moving off the table.
even if gala was no longer looking in her direction that didn’t mean gemma had to look away, right? she couldn’t help herself, really. gem’s teeth sank gently into her bottom lip--her expression was so blunt, surely she would feel embarrassed if gala were to turn around and catch her checking her out. thankfully, she didn’t. once the taller girl was out of sight, gemma exhaled a breath and turned back towards the table--more specifically what was in front of her. gem knew she had dishes to do and a bit of cleaning up, but first she wanted to resume the work e-mails on her phone. only for a few moments. once she built up a quick agenda for the upcoming week of work, gemma left the table and walked to the kitchen area. it didn’t take her long to start the dishes and thankfully there was not much to do anyway. she would be finished in no time, which possibly meant more time with gala. although, gemma did not know if gala had any type of plans for the day or certain things she needed to get done. she was humming quietly, scrubbing all the grease and grime off the pan she used to cook bacon.
from the corner of her eye, gemma saw gala enter the living room. she stopped what she was doing, grabbing a dish towel from the counter and wiping her hands dry. gala wasn’t looking at her but instead in her handbag, as if to make sure everything was still in place. gemma was...confused, to say the very least. just when she was about to speak, gala beat her to it. the tone of her voice had changed within a span of several minutes. something happened. gemma’s eyebrows pulled together, lips parting but no words coming out. gem noticed the sweater gala was wearing and then it hit her like a ton of bricks. “hey,” she finally spoke out, though her mouth was growing dryer by the second. she walked into the living room, hoping gala would look at her but she also didn’t want to force it. gemma couldn’t imagine all the different things that were running through gala’s mind. “please don’t go.” she damned her mind in that moment--wanting to say something way more than those three words. her thoughts weren’t clear, she was in a panic. “you saw it, didn’t you?”
