Lightsome - Will You Ever Know
Lightsome - Texas Is the Reason influenced emo from Germany.
There isn't much good emo in the vein of Texas Is the Reason these days. Sure, there's a whole new movement with bands like Snowing, and they're great, but they just don't seem to have the same touch. Lightsome is a different story, though, hailing from a place called Duren, Germany.
If you're a fan of Texas Is the Reason, you'll know that their last show took place in Germany as well. Needless to say, I think that it may have rubbed off on them, because they play a brand of emo that stays true to the scene. Unfortunately, though, they also seem to be very underrated.
With music this good, it's a wonder how they've got so few fans (they currently have 79 likes on facebook). What's even more interesting, though, is that they've been around since 1994 and began playing as Lightsome in 1998. I can't say I've heard any of their material prior to 2000, but I imagine they haven't changed much stylistically over the years.
According to their facebook, despite the fact they lost the female vocalist, they're still going strong. Currently working on writing music, and hopefully a new album. If you're a fan of Texas Is the Reason and other similar bands, you definitely don't want to miss out.
Their first album, The Essential Things is available on bandcamp for free.
