Welcome to the origins of the GenArt program! My name is Seer, welcome~
I started writing the GenerativeArt program (GenArt for short) in response to Tumblr's shoddy deal to sell its content to Midjourney and OpenAI. I've always been fascinated by the overlap between technology and art, and pushing the boundaries on what is considered man made and machine made, and how that line is often very blurry. However the simple truth is that using a tool trained on data collected without people's consent is wrong.
GenArt represents my hopes and aspirations for using technology to bolster and improve art, with the encouragement for people to freely use this program as a form of protest against the scraping methods of OpenAI and other companies like it. I will be using this blog as a means to generate art using my original program, enable AI to collect the content from my post, and coat all the images posted in a delicious layer of purple tinted potion :)
I am currently in the process of fine tuning version 0 of the GenArt program, but will begin posting the images generated with the tag #genart. Pieces that I especially like and have titles will have the tags #fav and #titled piece respectively, and bulk pieces that are scheduled to post will be tagged with #bulk piece, if you wish to block that tag. I plan to post a lot of these :]
If you would like to use this program, generate art, and publish (and potion it if you are able to) yourself, I absolutely encourage you to :D This pinned post will be updated with each version of the program I put out. I also plan to make some posts with the tag #genart help with guides on how to customize the code, replace the illustration or textures with your own, or any other FAQs.
