genuinely curious what you consider to be a "real trans person" tho. do you define it as anyone with dysphoria? or do you define it by the easy to define state of being transsexual, as in, someone who transitions?
Someone who has dysphoria that has been determined not to stem from other issues (such as low self-esteem, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, etc.) and attempts to alleviate their dysphoria by transitioning and passing as the opposite sex -- or as androgynous as possible if they're nonbinary -- to the best of their ability given their situation.
So, a dysphoric transman who cannot transition and make bold efforts to pass because of his abusive family environment is still trans. If he doesn't have the money or means to transition medically but he does have the means to socially transition, then I see no reason he shouldn't try to do so to alleviate his dysphoria if he is really trans. However, if someone has the opportunity to try and pass safely and still doesn't (e.g. all those "he/theys" who make no attempt to not look exactly like a woman) they are not trans. That's the way I see it.
Thank you for the respectful question.
TL;DR for those who need it: in my opinion, you must have true dysphoria not resulting from other problems and attempt to pass as much as you can in a safe manner to be trans. (this includes NBs and NB dysphoria.)
Okay, so basically - you believe it to be a combination of evaluated dysphoria as well as choice? As in, intent to transition, rather than dysphoria alone? Before I ask more I just want to be clear on that. Many transmeds equate being trans with just the concept of “true dysphoria” but have many varying ways of qualifying that and i find the “true trans” narrative in that regard to be a headache personally.
