I was debating whether or not to share my part of the recent IDW Issue #68 Redraw Collab hosted by @star-crimson, since it was a small and simple part of the whole thing.

But then I remembered I could show off what it looks like without the panels covering it and that made it funny.

I knew certain parts of my piece wouldn't be visible in the final comic, so I decided to be efficient lol

Tails’ attachment to Classic Sonic in Forces needs to be studied 😭😭😭 He was SO SAD when he went back home, and clearly he was comforted by the presence of A Sonic in the wake of His Sonic’s “death.” Many many many many MANY thoughts.

Update time!! (+ an announcement)

We're estimating the release date for Beware the Alien Freaks (the pilot) is likely to be summer of 2026 instead of spring.

We're still making steady progress ✨ it's just become clear that the project grew in scope from our original vision, and we want to give ourselves the time to see it through!

...can you believe I originally thought this thing was going to be 10 minutes long?

The pilot had different plans. At this point, we're expecting the runtime to be closer to 30 minutes. That's a number subject to change as we continue drafting and editing these boards, but it will definitely be at least twice as long as my initial estimate.

We still have plenty to show in the meantime, and will continue to give updates as we go! 🤸 Thank you as always for following Beware the Alien Freaks!!

It's a quiet thing, love. Always hand-in-hand with fear because they both often creep up too close and take everything from him eventually. It's the subtle ache in his heart he feels when the sun goes down and the chilly wind blows too hard for him to sit still and admire a beautiful thing, dying. Even so it remained, and he carried it willingly, for he knew no other companion.

But growing up meant love could be loud. And not in an overwhelming way that reminded him of running endlessly from shadows that never solidified. In a way that was safe, like the bright light of day that chased all of the fear away with its comforting chaos. It's weird at first-everything he'd ever loved he feared just as much...what was love without fear?

Freedom.

He almost hopes they stay strangers forever, so they never run out of things to talk about.

It's a boisterous thing, love. Fraught with demands and an image that's larger than him, far too large to support on his own. Could be conflated with admiration, since they're both just as fleeting. It's the tidal wave of voices and faces he'll drown in, but the world buzzes, chants his name too loudly for him to ever rest comfortably anywhere. Even so, he failed to cultivate it since he never stayed anywhere long enough to let it grow.

But getting older meant love could be quiet. And not in a shallow way that reminded him of all the people who pretended so they could get something out of him, too. In a way that was terrifying, like the waves of an ocean he refused to go near that, in spite of everything, refused to wash away the name this kid had written in the sand as if it was meant to be eternal. It's frustrating at first-why was he so afraid this one would slip out of his fingers when all he's ever done is throw caution to the wind? What was love entangled with fear...?

Family.

Alternate timeline where tails joins forces with sonic solely thinking that being famous will bring him the recognition, attention, and love he’s always wanted but he doesn’t find out what love really means when despite his worldview flipping upside down sonics there to sit on the ceiling with him and talk to him as always, like he’s a person

this one is a spiritual companion to the i am icarus thing from last year, focused on sonic obv

anyway firm believer that sonic is kind at his core; but being kind doesnt always go hand in hand with being nice or gentle or plesant to be around, esp in sonics case due to his pretty isolated upbringing. he isnt cruel, but he can be mean and short tempered: he acts on negative emotions without caring about the impact of his actions, impulsively snaps at anyone he feels threatened by including people who mean no harm

that is until tails - someone he has to constantly interact with - enteres his life, which forces him to actually consider his behavior and confront it (enter the propaganda)
