The holiday season is a hectic one, but one of Georginaโs favorites. The rapid preparation of Thanksgiving takes hours of perfecting, perhaps even days because of who weโre speaking of, for a celebration that will last a few hours. Either way, this time of the year is one that transpires one after another. Just as you finished the turkey for leftovers, one is rummaging through the plastic containers in shortage to decorate the halls, and holiday jingles being blasted through Alexa as she remains parched in the kitchen. So, the maniac within her has spent the last couple of days wrapping the presents in preparation for the short, three-minute car drive to her motherโs house for Christmas Eve and Day festivities. If she isnโt overly-prepared, thereโs a part of her that tenses up, and the eldest Livingston knows itโs a fault that should be worked on but not during the holidays.ย
After three days of packaging presents, pondering from her family roomโs distance about how many gifts she has managed to purchase this year. All of the items sit in five sizable usable bags near the front door for their Christmas Eve departure. For now, the chocolate-tressed woman is impressed with her efforts this year, and how things seemingly fell into place. Itโs just when sheโs lost in a trance about her capability; the doorbell retrieves her attention. A few steps from Georginaโs from the multi-colored carpet before the patron make them feel at home. Gen, she sees waltzing through the door in what comes across as a flush of exasperation. A hand waves over the totes in her cousinโs hands, not surprised about her spoiling Asher and Joannaย โ at this point, everyone spoils each other.ย โThis happens every year,โ she points out in a hearty chuckle about the wrapping paper, rapidly sending her cousin a pointed expression. Head motioning to her cousin to feel at home, she turns on her heel. โLet me grab the wrapping paper while you go to the kitchen. Then, Iโll fill you up a nice glass of wine, yeah?โย
Geo was right about one thing... somehow, each year, Genevieve managed to run out of wrapping paper, where she'd find herself in the exact place she was in now; inviting herself into her cousins house and demanding the other for something she could easily purchase from the local party shop. Lord only knew that Georgina was the organized one between the pair. Even with Gen barging into the front door, she could see the presented neatly placed by the front door in large reusable shopping bags. Preparation wasn't Gen's strongest quality, and it was almost guaranteed that every Christmas her present purchasing wouldn't begin until December 20th, with wrapping taking place a mere two days before the big day. With a short chuckle that rumbled from deep in her chest, Genevieve handed over the bag full of presents and shook her head. โYeah, I know. Sue me.โ A quick shrug followed as she stepped over the threshold and rushed to shut the door behind her. It wasn't too cold outside, but the warmth of Geo's home was certainly more inviting. โPlease. Though no more than two โ my drink driving days aren't as sharp as they used to be.โ A joke which could only release from someone as dark-humored as Gen.
Following her cousin's instructions, Genevieve made her way forward into the kitchen, easily finding the cupboard which housed the wine glasses. Grabbing two, she set them down on one of the counters and helped herself to a stool. She rummaged through her bag and fiddled around on her phone, letting her mom know she'd try to stop by for lunch. She'd taken a few days off over the season to spend with the family, much to Sean's excitement. Placing her phone back down, she wondered whether they'd all be spending Christmas evening enduring fun and games. Sean was a wizard when it came to Monopoly. โSo, what exactly are the plans for Christmas evening?โ she asked as her cousin made a reappearance. She reached across, presenting a hand for the wrapping paper. Her sights quickly took in the variety on offer. โPlease don't say caroling. I'm suffered enough over the last few days.โ
