My dear, it would be a shame to miss the nupitals of the Princess of Dorne. And in any case, someone has to represent House Baratheon and it was never going to be my husband.
Oh yes, your husband Robert. Where is he? Attending to his duties as the Lord of the Stormlands?
Ah, my elusive friend finally decides to grace me with her presence.
I suppose I arrived earlier than most of the guests. I was beginning to wonder if you had lied to me when you told me you were to attend.
One hears so many tales of the heat in Dorne, but to experience it is another thing entirely.
I agree.
"You would be just as surprised if I had said he starts sword fighting at ten and five. It will never be different" Contay had calmed down long ago, but his pride wouldn’t allow him to take the first step. He nodded at her then, smiling lightly. "It’s quite alright. I should’ve waited for a better moment to tell you, that i am sorry for."
She was a mother. There was no appropriate time for her son to pick up the sword. Or her daughter to get betrothed. She would never be ready for such moments. It felt too soon to her. Genna could see how wrong she could be, but she still couldn't stop herself from fretting over her children. She loved them and didn't want to see them hurt. "A better time would have never come. We were both unfair to each other the previous night. I believe we should put this behind us."
"I understand that you are worried, but you should also trust me with my decisions. He will have a good teacher and is good for his age. I said some things that weren’t proper last night, but I’m not changing my mind about the matter" Contay held out his arm for her to hook hers into his elbow, eyes staying on the path ahead though. "He can hurt himself playing outside or in his chambers as well, the difference is that he’ll learn how to handle weapons that inflicts worse wounds."
Genna accepted the gesture as she listened to his words. At least he was admitting he was not innocent himself. They both made a mistake, they both said things they shouldn't had. How much she wished the previous night never happened. Fights with her husband were something rare and it made her feel strange every time when they disagreed with each other. They usually got along so well. "Yes. I'm only worried, that is all. And when you suggested it, Lyonel carrying an actual sword, I suppose I was not ready. I was surprised. It's such a common thing, but it somehow never crossed my mind."
"I did not say you’re not allowed to be here. I’m merely surprised to see you here" Contay replied, sounding less friendly than he intended to. He was still angry at her for talking to him in a manner like the previous night, but didn’t want to discuss something like that in the mid of the training field. "Not here, come" Walking ahead towards the path that lead towards the coast, he brushed his dark hair back and wiped his forehead as sweat tickled down the side of his face.
"Go ahead, talk."
Nodding in his direction, she followed him. Genna did not know where to start from. But she also did not want to let the wrong words leave her lips. She was tired. "About what happened last night." She began, "Some statements were made. I admit I should not have lost my temper. I should have thought things through before announcing them out loud. I am just worried, Contay. Like every other mother." Maybe he would understand her now. It was the morning and perhaps he had slept better than her.
Unusually early had Contay made his way on the training field. The arguement from the last night certainly didn’t sit well with him either, but chose to get rid of some steam by training with some of the swordmen. It had been quite a while since he last found time to do so, but it was nice to have somewhat of a distraction every once in a while. He wasn’t someone to ignore ones opinion on a matter, but his wife trying to argue with him about his son starting proper swords training was nothing he’d change his mind about.
Contay never liked wearing heavy armor, preferred to be as fast as Dornishmen he had seen fighting when he was a kid. Something about the elegance of their fighting and the smooth movements had him captured and he refused to wear anything that would hold him back ever since he was a young lad.
Just as he unarmed the men he was training with, he spotted a blonde head in the distance that without a doubt, was his wife. He sighed loudly and was preparing himself for another fight as he handed the swords some younger male and excused himself. “What are you doing here?”
Genna remembered how during the first years of their marriage, she would always secretly watch him training. She loved watching him. It was not because she was interested in sword fighting and the various techniques, but it was because it was Contay she was watching. She was so proud every time her eyes would lay upon him. And some voice inside her head would boastfully remind her, That's him. That's my husband. But it wasn't the case this time, as she watched him, she felt nothing. She had still not forgotten. Genna felt guilt and sadness but at the same time anger, anger for all the spoken words between them the previous night.
He was annoyed to see her, she thought. Perhaps he expected from her to have arrived there only to continue their argument. But she was too tired about that. "I have every right to be here. Do you mind?" She asked, before realizing how bitter her question might have sounded. "I wish to have words with you. That is all." Her next words were delivered with softened tone unlike a moment ago.
She had spent the night in her youngest daughter's chambers. Genna and her husband for the first time in many years slept separately. She was surprised, surprised that she had let that happen. Had not expected such an argument to arise, big enough to make them feel upset with each other. The Lady of Parchments had not slept, she couldn't sleep without Contay. Their married life was seemingly perfect, they had children and were happy. But if they were so happy why had they had such an argument? In the morning after, everything seemed ridiculous to her.
Genna walked up to the spot where her husband was training with some of his men. She kept her distance though and did not say a word, waited to see if he would notice her.

It seems I’m not the only one taking it as an opportunity to see more of the South then. You’ll be going to the wedding then?
I think many people would be doing just the same. Yes, I plan on. I made the travelling arrangements already. Will you be in attendance, my lady?

"No. You can’t throw me out of my own chambers, Genna. Calm down and go to bed,"
"Do not tell me to calm down. Then I will be the one to leave our bedchambers. I wish you a good night rest."
"Good. But I won’t change my decision. "
"As you wish. The children will sleep with me tonight. You are more than welcome to pick one of their chambers to spend the night in."
"Do you think I don’t care about him? He’s young, but he’s not dumb. Better have him prepared at a young age than not be able to adapt later"
"I do not wish for us to discuss this any further. My head is hurting."
"You’re overreacting. He’s not going to poke his eye out, trust in him and trust in my word. But it seems like you’re not trusting my view on thing, doesn’t it?"
"That is not true. I do. It's just....really dangerous...and he is so young. You cannot get upset with me for caring."
