I’m trying to remember to share some of the older outfits I’ve made for #memademay Today we’re going full on Frida with an Alexander Henry skirt.

Time for my next sewing project
I was trying to pick an outfit to wear to Hamilton today when I realized it was International Women’s Day. I knew exactly what to wear then. This dress that I made from Alexander Henry Stronger Together fabric.
I’m not used to having to trim down my fabric to blocks. This is a new experience and this pile of trimmings is making me feel like I’m wasting fabric. I know I’m going to enjoy the end result but I might need to start a new scrap bin just for these tiny trimmings. Maybe I’ll use them for stuffing for something one day.
Front, back, and pocket panels are all stitched. I think I’m going to use bigger scrap pieces for the lining. While looking at the scrap panels I was thinking I would love this for a cropped jacket or something. Something like that might be a multi year project for me.
I did so much sewing, trimming, and ironing this weekend. These are not all tasks I do in my regular sewing so this is definitely a new experience. I think the end result is going to be fun but I’m not sure how I feel about the process yet.
For those of you that don’t know, in my day job I work for IKEA. So, I decided it was time to put my @ikea fabric scraps to use and make a scrappy backpack for work. I don’t know how long it will take but I’m excited for the outcome!
Disclaimer just in case: this post is my own and doesn’t represent the brand. None of this was given to me. I’ve just bought a lot of fabric over the years.
One more post with just a picture of the things I made with the scrap jar was passed on at the Houston Modern Quilt Guild meeting.
Now that the scrap jar was passed on at the Houston Modern Quilt Guild meeting today I can share what I made!
