you told your daughter, knowing very well how your husband would react to the news.
so much for keeping it a secret. you mentally slapped yourself, seeing the aforementioned male standing near the doorway, looking at you skeptically.
hong woojin tilted his head in confusion, unwilling to believe his wife and daughter were actually hiding something from him.
“don’t tell me what?” he asked, immediately turning towards your daughter when you didn’t answer. “what is it, misun-ah?” the smile on his face brightened, and you bit your lip, knowing it was a tactic to get the news out of your child.
deceive her into thinking you are not mad, and then get to know everything.
and of course, the young child took very much after her father, and wasn’t the type to keep things to herself — especially when she had a hard time controlling her expressions and lying.
“a boy kissed me at school today,” she blurted, unaware of the storm she created. “during our break-time.”
woojin’s eyes widened as his mouth fell open, staring in disbelief at you and his daughter.
“i’m sorry? what now?” he scooted closer, crouching near the child as you did. “did i hear that right?” you nodded as he looked towards you, snapping him out of his trance.
“a boy …” misun spoke slowly this time, genuinely believing her father didn’t hear her. “… kissed me … at school.” you sat on the floor, ready to enjoy the show.
“kissed you? where did he kiss you?”
“everywhere.”
“every … where?” woojin’s brows were furrowed, repeating the words he heard multiple times in his head to make sense of it. “where is everywhere?” he had a hard time believing his daughter was kissed at school.
but then again, he also thought about how misun was his daughter and that it was inevitable which such a face that she — but how could this unnamed boy try to steal his beloved misun using kisses?!
“like …” misun trailed off, gesturing to her entire face. “everywhere.”
woojin stood up from his place, turning as he grabbed his keys that were lying around.
“okay, then. let’s go meet him.” he had the most solemn look on his face, and for a second, even you panicked, thinking he’d actually drive to your daughter’s playschool.
“woojin, please don’t–”
“no, no, we must go see him. he needs to know the father of the girl he kissed.” misun looked terrified at her father’s behavior, turning towards you for help. “he needs to know your father is a really good boxer, misun-ah. should we take uncle gunwoo with us too?”
you sat there speechless, covering your face with your hands as you contemplated the life choices you made to get married to him.
“stop it, woojin!” you held your daughter close, covering her, so she didn’t have to see the extravagantly exaggerated expressions he did. “you are scaring her with your overreacting,” you complained, pursing your lips as he frowned.
the male took a deep breath as he held out his hands for his daughter to hold. “did you kiss him back, misun-ah? you didn’t, right?” he inquired, causing your mouth to fall open as your eyes widened.
misun had the same expression as you — except hers was more of disgust while you were shocked. “of course, i didn’t! ew, boys are gross. yuck!” she shuddered, bringing the biggest smile onto woojin’s face.
“yes! boys are gross! totally yuck!” he smiled as he spoke, playing with your daughter’s hands. “never kiss them, okay? at least until you are older.”
the last few words were under a whisper barely audible.
you held misun’s face, giving her a little smile. “yep, and the yuckiest one of them all is your father.” you and your daughter laughed at the joke you made, especially with the ‘hmph’ you got out of woojin.
“now go change so we can go to the park!” you hurried your daughter, smiling fondly as she ran to her room before turning to look at the grumpy male beside you.
“me? the yuckiest one? really?”
“you said it yourself; boys are yucky.”
woojin cracked a smile, chuckling as he stared at you. “i never thought i’d have to worry about misun kissing anyone at such a young age. kids move so fast these days.” he shook his head.
“kissing has always been normal, jagiya.” you teasingly patted his head. “even kindergartners back in my days did.” you hid your laugh as woojin furrowed his brows, twice as confused as he was before.
“well, i might’ve been doing all this wrong since kindergarten then.”

it was almost two weeks of hong woojin visiting you whenever he could to brighten up your day and fill in for your brother.
ever since your brother, kim gunwoo, left for his tournaments, you were a mess. and woojin knew that — which was why he volunteered to check on you every so often before his best friend could even ask the favor.
woojin could never admit it to gunwoo, but the truth was, he had a crush on you — and just couldn’t bear to see you so sad. but little by little, with his visits, he brought a smile to your face.
and little by little, you started falling for your brother’s best friend.
you never really meant to, but with woojin being so caring, there was no way you could stop yourself from liking him. sure, he was your brother’s best friend, and if your brother found out, he’d probably not like it, but that problem would never arise.
because you were so damn sure nothing would ever happen between you two.
“gunwoo said you cried during your video call with him earlier.” woojin sat next to you, his voice soft. “you know, we can talk about it. it’ll just be between us, i promise.”
this was exactly why you kept falling for your brother’s best friend; he was an absolute gem.
“when we were together, gunwoo would nag me every day, but now it’s not as often,” you muttered. “weirdly enough, i miss it.”
“well, i mean, i can always nag you. you know, just consider me your big brother. i’m your brother’s best friend anyway, right?” woojin bit his lip, regretting his choice of words as soon as they left his lips.
“there’s no need for that, woojin.” you scoffed, shaking your head. “i have no intention of considering you as my brother.”
the male raised his brows, surprised by your response. “oh? then what do you want to consider me as? your boyfriend?” he playfully responded, leaning closer to your face as he grinned.
“w-what? no, i–”
“your husband?!” woojin enjoyed the way the heat rushed to your cheeks, feeling his heart flutter when you pouted at him. “woah, i didn’t think you’d have such long-term plans with me.”
you chuckled, wanting to give him a taste of his own medicine. “of course, i planned for the long term, hong woojin.” you leant closer, your smile never fading. “i also came up with baby names. wanna hear?” you quipped.
the seriousness in your voice paired with the proximity of your faces was too much for woojin, causing him to choke on air as you laughed, satisfied with the outcome.
you had played an uno reverse on your brother’s best friend, and he seemed to believe every word.
“w-wait, are you for real?” he couldn’t help but ask, not having noted the sarcasm behind your voice. “like, baby names and all?”
you stood from your place, walking towards the door before looking back. woojin followed your steps, the clueless look on his face giving you butterflies with how adorable he looked.
“take me out on a date first, and we can find out if the baby names are real.”

you cursed your luck, sitting at the bus stop while contemplating your life decisions.
should've watched my step. you wondered, looking down at your arm, which was in a cast. but i could've sworn that step wasn't there before.
after a minor accident that resulted in your arm in a cast, you were informed you had an appointment for your passport picture.
and with your roommate away for the weekend, you had absolutely no one to help you. it took you all your effort to get your clothes prim and proper, but you forgot about your hair in the process.
upon seeing your phone's reflection, you realized you needed to be absolutely professional for the picture — and this meant having a proper hairstyle.
and as a last resort, you took a deep breath, turning towards the male beside you who was also waiting for the bus. he looks nice. you wondered, politely smiling.
“hi. i’m really sorry for disturbing you,” you apologized as you greeted him. “but could you please help me tie my hair?”
kim gunwoo seemed confused at first, wondering why you were asking him before he saw the cast on your arm.
“i, uh, haven’t really done this before,” he admitted honestly, feeling bad when he saw your mood deflate. “i could try, though.”
“that’d be much appreciated,” you thanked him. “i have to get my passport pictures done, and my roommate’s also not home. i’m really sorry for troubling you like this!”
you felt terrible, and weirdly enough, that brought a smile to gunwoo’s face. he knew you genuinely meant every word you spoke, and your politeness warmed his heart.
“i’ll touch your hair now,” he announced awkwardly, standing behind you as he gathered your hair in his hand. “is your fracture really bad? does it hurt?” he asked, trying to make some conversation as he tried to figure out what to do.
“it’s a minor one, but it hurts a lot more than i thought,” you replied, oddly feeling comfortable with this stranger. “i’m sorry about this, really.”
gunwoo chuckled, shaking his head, though you couldn’t see it. “it’s alright. if anything, i’m sorry if i’m doing anything wrong,” he apologized. “i don’t want you to ruin your picture because of me,” he muttered.
his touch on your hair was very gentle, and you could feel him trying his best, and you deeply appreciated that.
once he had tied your hair, gunwoo stood in front of you, taming your flyaways before taking out his phone and turning the camera towards you.
"wah!" you exclaimed, totally in awe. “you are really good at this! thank you very much!”
the male only smiled in response, relieved to hear his shoddy work of tying your hair was acceptable. “well, that’s a relief,” he muttered, nodding politely as he moved away.
“seriously, i mean it,” you commented, grateful for the help. “it came out so pretty. i can't believe you’ve never done this before!”
the raven-haired male shyly smiled as he looked at you, admiring the absolute golden retriever energy that was radiating off you.
for the first time in his life, kim gunwoo wanted to get to know someone, and the someone who pulled on his heartstrings was none other than you.
“ah, well, i’m glad i was able to pull off a pretty hairstyle for a pretty you.”

"oh, shut up," woojin scoffed, pausing for a moment as you expected what his next words were. "i love you, you know, y/n? i love you so much."
