He pulls a face as the hypo is administered, but doesn’t fidget. He’s learned the hard way that squirming only makes it worse.

Oh shit, she’s pouting. And it’s not exactly a habit she would’ve picked up from her dad, so Jim has only himself to blame. At least Grace can’t talk yet, so she won’t be calling him out on his bullshit anytime soon.

She gives a brilliant, triumphant smile, and picks up the hypo again. That pout works wonders if she uses it right, and she gains just a tiny bit of satisfaction from using Jim's own tactic against him. She's seen him use it on her father countless times before.

"I know. But you love  him, so I know you  don't mind it really."

Did she just call him Captain? Now that’s weird. Very weird. He realises he’s squinting at her like she’s just grown an extra head and tries to go back to looking somewhat like a normal person.

She ignores his squinting, favouring a pout instead. She's not sure it'll work; that pout is trademark Jim Kirk. She had to learn to get her own way from somewhere.

He doesn’t care that Jo is like a daughter to him, he does notwant to be prodded any more than necessary today.

That's her "big girl" voice. She's pulling out the "big girl" voice. She means business.

"It'll take two seconds, 'n then we'll be done."
