my resources page is still under construction, but i definitely will get around to doing it! i'm finding it a bit confusing on how to go about listing some of the cc i use though, since a lot of it disappeared after the creators deleted. currently though, my default skin is this and my default eyes are this ❤️ just a head's up though, i always layer on top of my defaults so using those alone won't look the same as my sims! i hope that makes sense! thank you for showing interest btw, i'm very flattered you enjoy my sims hehe ❤️

How to Have Fun Weddings in The Sims 4

If you’re like me and you’re not buying or acquiring the newest GP any time soon out of spite, here’s how I play weddings in my game. I love to throw parties and have weddings and I’ve come up with a process that always works for me. It doesn’t take much and it makes for fun gameplay in my opinion, so I thought I’d share.

1. When planning a wedding, don’t do the goaled event. It’s too much stress with little reward.

2. Want extra time to party? The Longer Parties mod removes the timer and the party lasts until you say it ends. There’s also an optional download that allows you to invite anyone, even sims you don’t know. That way you won’t have to run around introducing your sim to everyone you want to invite at the last minute.  (This mod doesn’t seem to work with the new GP btw.)

3. Do not hire a caterer! Something always goes wrong. I always put out the buffet table from Luxury Party Stuff. To make sure no one’s eating during the vows I don’t actually fill it until the reception.

4. Do hire a bartender and a DJ. I like to put the bar and the DJ booth near each other. Lots of sims congregate by both and it makes for fun screenshots. I like to hire the DJ right when the reception starts so sims don’t get distracted.

5. Don’t worry if you forget the cake! No goals remember?

7. And most importantly, use the Please Sit mod (https://modthesims.info/d/604394/various-seating-fixes-additions.html) to make your guests sit for the vows. (Check the comments for the most recent version and it also doesn’t work with the new GP.)

I’ve done this lots of times with different venues and it works well. The aim isn’t perfection, but fun gameplay and screenshots. Something always goes wrong, but it’s fun so you don’t care.

All the tips above are super great! I’d like to share some more that I personally do with my gameplay to make weddings feel a little more special! 

A day or two before the wedding I have an “engagement party”! So I’d throw one of the three: a dinner party, black & white bash, or house party! It varies on the sim I’m choosing for since some of my sims I envision having something more formal and elegant while others I see just having a very chill gathering. There’s a mod here called Congratulate More where you can congratulate others on their engagement, wedding etc! 

If you want to take it a step further, you can download a wedding boutique lot and dress the mannequins in wedding and/or bridesmaid dresses. Afterwards you can take your sims there to do some shopping! (This is for people who want to take screenshots and make the wedding prep a bit more immersive for their followers). 

The day before the wedding, I like to plan a spa day with my sims! Either they go with their friends or with who they are going to marry. They get a massage, manicures/pedicures, maybe a quick relaxation in the sauna! You can build on this by having them get coffee at a cafe or even grabbing brunch. It’s totally up to you!

As for rings, I really like this mod called Auto Wedding Ring which automatically gives both of your sims a wedding ring once they are married! There’s three versions that you can choose from.

For the wedding reception I’ve recently gotten really into taking pictures of all the guests (and married couple too!) so I can keep them and use them as a part of decor for my sim’s home later. I use this set by Ravasheen as a backdrop for my simmies to pose in front of while I have a random sim in my household take all the pictures! (Feel free to use other kinds of backdrops, it can be anything really!) This set of frames from peanutbutterjelly02 offers an awesome variety of frames that come in different sizes and styles! For the poses, I like to use the teleporter and use custom poses but sometimes I just use the normal EA model ones!

One last thing! If you still want your event to be the normal EA wedding event, here’s a tweak to the gifts you get from completing the event! You can download it here and it’s called the Wedding Presents Tweak! I think the gifts you get from this mod are a lot more thoughtful than the default ones. 

As for after the wedding, 9 times out of 10 I have the couple go on a honeymoon! If they have kids, I usually take them and if I don’t then I’d only take the couple. I like to have them learn or share a hobby together while on the honeymoon, whether it be yoga, painting, or anything really!
