Josie reading out the house rules:
i can't believe netflix had the fucking nerve to cancel anne with an e just a few HOURS after the season finale the AUDACITY
Imagine if we could get 2 more seasons....
Season 4 about college, ends in a shirbert wedding, maybe get a okay ending for my girl Ka’kwet, introduce some new characters (preferably queer ones), maybe delve into deaf/disabled issues (I can’t remember the name of the deaf maid at the boarding house but I feel like she was introduced for a potential story line.) Season ends in a shirbert wedding.
Season 5 about Anne teaching and figuring out how to connect with her students, trying to live up to miss Stacey’s example. (Teaching is HARD,,, you want to be a good teacher but your tired and it can be hard to figure out what each kid needs,,,). Idk what else. I know I hear a lot of people wanting babies for shirbert but... idk I am a firm hater of baby plots in general so cool if that’s your thing but not for me thx
Okay but do Shirbert really have the skill to be pen pals? They seem pretty bad at reading letters....
Ka’kwet didn’t get any resolution there had better be a season 4
Desperately hoping that Cole returns for the finale and is the one to do Anne’s hair for her Blue Dress look
I rewatched some of season 1 today and I was prepared for fetus Jerry but Gilbert’s not quite dropped voice? Took me completely unaware
Me seeing Muriel burst randomly into tears over maybe not having children in the future:
Me seeing Muriel then segway into making a good point about parents that Bash should maybe think about with regards to his mom:
You know what, I'm kind of worried.
Anne thinks writing to the papers about what's going on/the outrage of the people of Canada will save Ka'kwet and the other kids like her stuck in that Residential School...but...these schools aren't just there, they were all over Canada...
And history shows...the out outcome wasn't too bright.
AWAE was not afraid to show the racism that was once showed towards black Canadians and Aboriginals...AWAE cares about realism. Mary's injury made her ill, deathly sick and they didn't save for the sake of drama...she died... realistically.
What if despite all of Anne's efforts...she fails. She's trying to help change Avonlea, she's trying to open their eyes, but the people she's fighting against this time isn't just a group of town's folk or a small board of bitter old men, like it was with the paper.
This is the government...this is the church...these are men with weapons.
Protesting isn't going to sway them or change things.
And I'm worried that maybe we'll get a happy ending on one side...but what if we get the bleak reality on the other side.
We already saw the trauma of what being in the Residential School has done to Ka'kwet, now she's being locked in 'solitary confinement' basically, I'm just so worried for her and all of those kids 😫😫😫😭😭😭
We will prevail...
I don’t want Gilbert to propose but hear me put wouldn’t it be funny if he actually was going to but someone had the shell instead of the ring in his pocket on accident....
One of the things Anne with an E does best is represent intentional families.
AwaE is fantastic for portraying that nuclear families (Dad + Mom and 2.3 kids) are not necessarily the ideal we should be striving for. In fact, all the families that are blood-related, and therefore forced to be a family, have major relationship issues - think the Pyes, the Barrys, or the Andrews. Let’s look at a few intentional families in the show:
The Cuthberts
Matthew and Marilla are siblings who, for one reason or another, never married or had children. As would have been socially acceptable at that time, they lived together because Marilla wasn’t able to be on her own as an unmarried woman. They acquire Anne by accident, and come to love her almost immediately. Although they have their fair share of squabbles, the three of them support each other through a multitude of issues - from health problems and financial instability, to identity crises and romance troubles. They may not be conventional parents, but Matthew and Marilla raise Anne the best they know how, and with all the love they have to give.
The Blythe-LaCroix Family
Perhaps the ‘oddest’ family portrayed by the show, we have Sebastian Lacroix, a labourer who has emigrated from Trinidad; Gilbert Blythe, an orphaned teen whose father left him a farm; and Delphine, the infant daughter of Bash and his late wife, Mary. Gilbert and Bash call each other ‘brother’, and to Delphine, Gil is referred to as ‘Uncle Gilby’ by others. Initially, they worked together on the boat, and later on the Blythe farm. Now, they live together as a family, cook and share meals, and provide emotional support to each other as they face many hardships. The death of Bash’s wife hits the entire family hard, and they are forced to accept help from many women in their community to raise Delphine. While they have occasional arguments (usually related to miscommunication), Gilbert and Bash are the ultimate example of intentional family.
Josephine Barry + Cole Mackenzie
An elderly ‘spinster’ (widowed after the death of her female life partner) and a gay teen runaway make the perfect pair. After growing up in a working-class family, and struggling to be himself in a closed-minded community, Cole heads for Charlottetown, and is welcomed, as well as unconditionally accepted for exactly who he is, by Josephine. She has company after being alone for many years, and he has someone he can relate to. Also, it helps that Aunt Josephine has money, so they can have extravagant parties with all their flamboyantly gay friends. It’s beautiful, and I love it.
In conclusion, Anne with an E features beautiful relationships between people who are a family because they choose it daily, not because it is required of them because of their genetics.
ok but where was jerry this episode?? my heartbroken son I hope he’s okay
If you’re looking for a sign, Blythe, you’ve gotten about 10
These people and their laws won’t break us. We will prevail.

-I correctly predicted that the feds would come to take Ka’kwet back but oooohh shit why....
-honestly I loved how they show the damage that’s already been done to her when she tells the kid to speak English. She’s been taught to hate her culture and she’s already internalized it... which is heartbreaking but it is what happened so it’s important to show.
-I wasn’t expecting Anne to be so forthcoming about her feelings for Gilbert but I’m so proud of her!!! Although the moment I saw that jug I knew something was gonna happen to the letter
-I really don’t know how they’ll be able to give Ka’kwet a happy ending. I legit thought that Ka’kwet’s dad was gonna die when he got shot. I have no idea how they could possibly get Ka’kwet back now. I literally cannot think of a way it could turn out right... indigenous people didn’t get a happy ending irl
-I feel like Bash’s mother is more understandable now. I liked that their conflict felt natural and understandable from both sides.
-I liked Miss Stacy talking to Bash able losing a spouse and pointing out that children are hard and super high commitment, but her crying over the baby was dumb and I hate it. Let her be independent and complete on her own!!! Children are not a the only thing that makes ones life meaningful!!
-I liked the scenes of Gilbert remembering all the things Anne’s done and what an exceptional person she is. It kind of serves as a reminder to the audience as well. Doing what is right is what’s important to Anne. More important than what Gilbert or anyone else might think. I also really hope that this means Gilbert is going to realize that proposing to Winnie when his heart isn’t completely there isn’t right REGARDLESS of whether Anne likes him or not.
-honestly I think Anne is at peace with herself. She’ll talk things over with Gilbert when they see each other next and I think she’ll be okay no matter what happens. She is rightfully more concerned about her friend Ka’kwet, who needs help and who’s safety and happiness are more important than any romance Anne might have. I don’t think she would regret losing Gilbert like Marilla regrets losing his father under these circumstances. But of course I hope things will go well with shirbert anyway.
