Reminisce!
His smile.
It disarmed her to realize the depth of which she had missed it.
Whatever light passed over his expression, Silas hoped it wasn’t in discovery to whatever he might have seen before she regained her composure, throat clearing as she promptly shrugged further into her jacket and looked past him toward the market.
"Yeah, I’m… back for a spell. Graves needed to check on her kid, and I needed to resupply. You… getting ready for another contract?"
She hazarded a look back at him from under the brim of her hat, checking to see how he might have faired since their last encounter.
Still that smile.
Slightly bent at the hips sideways, Gerick tried to capture a glance of the elusive judge. Seeing her usual stoic expression he smiled though it pained him a bit due to the wound hidden under the patch on his cheek and chin.
"I am!" he exclaimed righting himself. "There are some settlers aiming to start a ranch east of Galeras. That hired me to scout it out and see how hospitable the flora and fauna are out there."
She felt a tick catch along the corner of her lips, a hand reaching out to dab tentatively along the patch of bandages.
"Yeah?" a faint inquiry as he straightened, Silas’ chin lifting to follow her gaze. "Only that, right?"
Gerick winced a bit from the pain of her touch but only squinted an eye. “Of course. I did some research on that area. The only danger seems to be running into an unknown indigenous tribe but I plan on keeping my distance either way.” He was fairly certain nothing would go wrong. Scouting missions were tentatively safe pending the rogue stemdragon or pumera.
She dropped her hand, head likewise bowing in a thoughtful nod.
It sounded like an easy enough job. Panning a pointed glance back up over the bandages, Silas’ expression closed back off a touch.
"What happened there?"
Gerick gently cupped his hand over the bandage on his chin. "O-Oh this?" He waved his hands dimisively "Just some minor grelkin problems...and an explosion or two." The last bit muttered under his breath through a toothy grin.
