Stargazing in Zion // From our campsite on the butte, we could see it all. Planets and galaxies, and the perseids arcing across the sky. It's easy to forget how much is out there and above us when we spend our days and nights in cities, what's the best place you've ever watched the stars from? #magnacartamedia (at www.magnacarta.tv)
Spanning two states, the bridge over the Black Canyon of the Colorado River is a marvel. Caroline stands on the state-line between Arizona and Nevada, on the first real day of the Land Art adventure. We had the world's highest concrete arch bridge, and all the open road anyone could ask for. #landartroadtrip #magnacartamedia (at Over Hoover Dam)
From the shores of Yuba Lake, the sky was clear enough to see the sheet of stars above. Just like where I grew up, the Milky Way was peeking happily over the horizon, and we found ourselves with no choice but to capture it lighting up the night. The full moon cast a spotlight on us, and some old fashioned long exposure brought everything to life. (at Deep in the Milky Way | On The Road)
Edges of Heaven // Here in Zion National Park, there's a rock formation known as Angel's Landing, formerly the Temple of Aeolus, that's stands over a mile above sea level. The story goes that in 1916, upon seeing the peak, an explorer of Zion exclaimed: "only angels could land on it." Standing atop it nearly a hundred years later, is an almost mythic experience. #landartroadtrip #magnacartamedia (at Angel's Landing | Where Heaven Meets Earth)
After the Storm // On the outskirts of Zion, just after the skies had cleared, we took in the last of the setting sun. I've been in many storms before, but this was the first time I'd seen lightning touch down. Our hair standing on end, we watched. Katerina, stands ankle deep in the red mud of Utah, after the storm. #landartroadtrip #magnacartamedia (at The Smithsonian Butte)
First Meetings at Hoover Dam // As one of those iconic pieces of American lore, the dam holds a lot of stories. The Depression, engineering marvels, the WPA, being there feels like a deco museum, smaller than you'd imagined, but still mighty in it's way. As our first destination, it's where many of us really first met. And Genevieve, featured here, stood for a few lovely portraits in the shade of this concrete marvel. #landartroadtrip #magnacartamedia (at In the Shade of Hoover Dam)
Wanders On The Great Salt Lake // One of many incredible moments captured out here on the flats, everything stretching out like a sheet of glass. And even as the salt gets into your boots and between your toes, you already know how special a place like this really is. #landartroadtrip #magnacartamedia (at On The Great Salt Lake)
Elliot taking in the breathtaking views from our remote campsite in Zion National Park #landartroadtrip (at Zion National Park, Utah)
The Second Trial, The Golden Colts // On our accidental odyssey through the Utah plains last week, we came across this incredible herd of wild horses out by the salt flats. Made docile by tourists, they were very friendly, allowing me to get close for this shot. Our friend with his head raised was clearly in charge. #landartroadtrip #magnacartamedia (at On The Road | Everywhere)
On the road at the Valley of Fire // From early on in our journeys, our first night in the wild. Caroline shooting roll one of who knows how many. Nevada's first state park, the red sandstone was formed over 150 million years ago. #landartroadtrip #magnacartamedia (at On The Road | Everywhere)
