this game was made as part of a Tic-Tac-Toe assignment which was part of a bigger path-finding assignment .
when making this project I was really REALLY into Vlambeer’s Nuclear Throne. the main aim of ACTIC-TAC-TOE was meant to be the love-child between Nuclear Throne, Tic-Tac-Toe, Bullet Hell.Â
I had less than a week to make it!Â
What did I want to do for the game?
Chunk-based Level Generation.
Chunk Level Editor for chunk content. (Export/Import)
Simple Enemy Path finding
Tic-Tac-Toe AI to beat so that a new level is generated
Never got to finish the game properly to the point that it as fun to play but it did get me a super decent grade! everything you see in the GIFs was what I got working pretty much.
wiggling character sprites made 4 frame walk cycle look decent. (felt like a cheat code)
How to build a simple level editor (web).
using a limited colour palette made life easier and prettier.
how to pick my colours better.
new techniques and uses for Juice/Game feel tricks (Colour Flash, Movement Particles, Wiggling, Object shaking)
hahahahahhahahahaha no! enjoy those GIFs though.
What’s next for this game?
I won’t be coming back to this game since I don’t see much of a design progression for this game other than introduction artificial difficulty by just adding these following things;
Bigger Tic-Tac-Toe board.
in addition to that I didn’t think it would be that interesting to work on or even be great challenging experience.
