if u have to leave the fandom and stop writing for it because someone critiqued u (satirically or otherwise) for writing racist and transmisogynistic stereotypes and ideas into your fic — and at times basing the whole of the fic itself on those racist and transmisogynistic ideas — then i do in fact think it’s a you problem and not fandom toxicity. dumbass lmao
for a fandom that loves to talk about gender u guys sure don’t use that love to think for even .2 seconds about how trans women of color are fetishized and disregarded especially when they’re butch like so many of u talk the talk but are physically incapable of walking the walk. and some ppl can’t even do the talking part lol. lmao even
genuinely very gross that honest and necessary critique on how women of color, specifically trans women of color, are mistreated and objectified within fandom spaces has been spun by some into fandom being toxic and mean-spirited. way to miss the entire point.
god you guys are so fucking annoying. "actually ianthe has a huge cock" NOT THE POINT. STILL NOT THE POINT OH MY GOD.
i would think that the take that trans women specifically trans women of color are overly sexualized should Not be a steaming hot take considering the years of both fandom and irl history. and yet. sorry people are being parasocial assholes to you
IDK the whole thing has stalled at "well some trans women LIKE to be objectified and some of them arent even white so shut up" as if that overrides others discomfort with it. i keep reiterating i cant stop anyone from writing and i dont want to. i was frustrated and made a piece of art, a thing a do a lot when i am frustrated, this one was just more focused on what i dont like than what i do, and it was going to hurt people, and for that i am sorry but i cannot stand people treating it like i should have simply written in my notes app and gone outside as if this literally isnt the most popular shit in the fandom. like i cannot participate in the fandom without actively ignoring transmisogyny and racism, and i do not have the energy to check everyones fucking blogs and twitter to see if theyre marginalized enough to write about gideons horse dick. and this is a problem with all fandoms!!! across the board!!! i didnt invent an issue to get mad at so many people are frustrated and i made something that reflected that, and it was harsh, so i wont do it again. ill make a very long textpost about how some people are incapable of not treating gideon nav like a slab of fucking meat
my first griddleharks designs when i started reading gtn (they have changed a lot ever since then but i'm still fond of them)
sketch dump in the cut?
notice how… everyone mad about this whole situation are not even addressing the racism that quinn is rightfully criticizing in fanon/canon spaces. you do realize that nonwhite and trans people can perpetuate harmful racist and antiblack stereotypes..? why is that fucking point being ignored? it’s driving me crazy. everyone is being so dense about this when the problem to address is RIGHT THERE and no one is looking at it in the eyes
crazy how every single time racism gets brought up in this fandom sensitive white people turn it into a conversation on "bullying" and "harassment" and "toxicity" in fandom as if they haven't created a fandom space so toxic that many fans of color feel that they cannot engage with it at all. and by crazy i mean completely predictable because telling people of color they're being too mean for talking about racism is the oldest trick in the book.
just on the most baseline, basic level i also wish people in fandom who feel tlt is not a political work in some form or another would consider what statements like that look like to nonwhite fans who share that fan space with them and whose lives are impacted on a day-to-day basis by white norms and ideals, especially regarding a series of books which has a majority cast of characters of color. anyways
